TBH I’ve never snorkeled. I have been meaning to try or learn. Not sure I would pick up the whole breathing thing and I can’t float at all.

As others have said, the vest or noodles keep you afloat. I have one of the full face masks, and I love it.  You just breathe like you do when you are walking around. After using it, I will never go back to the other types.

Yesterday, found a nice orchard of American Chestnut trees.  After seeing those posts about Christmas decorations, I couldn’t get those “chestnuts roasting on an open fire” lyrics out of my head.

I know I will be back here in a couple weeks to collect some when they are ripe.

I have never managed to be on a ship with a stop in Bonaire. I have only seen lights as we passed by during the night.

Celebrity has many 8 night ABC itineraries from FLL.

Perhaps you will consider?

Your fav airport in Florida😁, Royal Caribbean D+ will be Elite on Celebrity, trying a sister cruise line, etc etc.

Will vouch for that. The food is very good there!

We take a taxi/van shuttle every time we go there. $5 pp shared ride.

We also like Klien. Very pristine in its true sense. There is nothing there, except for a small tin "shelter" and some garbage cans. No food, no bars nothinggggg. NO REST ROOMS.😁 So go before you board the ferries. And hold thereafter. It is truly a snorkeler's paradise. I don't snorkel so I just sat in the sand for 3 hours till the ferry came back for us. There is no dock, you either get off the ferry via their ladder, ramp, or jump off in calf deep water. Some ferries have a ramp right out to the beach. We also dd the submarine, which goes from Karel's dock to Klien.

Delfin's is good for a day pass. Plaza resort (now Vander Valk) hotel next to the dock is also great, as is Divi Flamingo. DF does not have a beach as such but lots of snorkeling, pool, casino, great vibe. We used to go to Harbor beach all the time. Their pass was $50 with a meal in La Balandra their restaurant. Went up to $65. Now no passes, only for hotel guests. Eden /Spice Club are ok. I find them very crowded.

I haven't ventured out on a golf cart.

We’ve done woodwind which was very good but I did get cold snorkeling there as it was a bit stormy. Huge waves that day but we did swim with turtles.  We’ve also done the golf cart rental which I really enjoyed too.  It was great just to be out alone on the salt flats and then snorkeled a bit on our own at the 100 steps I think it was called.  Next time I want to go to Klein island.

I’m definitely bringing more than a hoody or jacket next year. Brrr.  It will be fun packing for that trip since it’s down to the Southern Caribbean first and then up to Greenland. The parka, boots and gloves can stay packed for the first half and will put the snorkel, swim suits and shorts away for the second half.

Has the new season of Reacher started streaming yet?  I was looking for earlier in the summer and thought maybe delayed due to strikes.

Season 2 is due out in December, definitely looking forward to that . I liked cast of season 1 even though I never heard of any of the actors.

We called on the ABC Islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao on our first Caribbean cruise a 15 nighter on Crown Princess in Jan 2007 from San Juan Puerto Rico.

One other point about snorkeling at Klein Bonaire, it's what's called drift snorkeling.  You get in the water at point A and the water current "carries" you over the sights below water.  No real effort required to swim...especially if you're floating on a noodle.  Just stick your face in the water and watch the ocean floor go by.  We had a woman traveling with us who had never snorkeled before and was somewhat afraid.  She floated on a noodle and they had a guide essentially with her the whole time.  She ended up loving it.

The downside to drift snorkeling is that you leave the water at point B, which can be a ways away from point A if you're drifting for a while.  Woodwind has their boat slowly follow you as you drift so they are always there in case you want to get out of the water.  They have a few guides in the water with you, as well as an underwater photographer.  I can't remember if there was a charge for the photos but on our trip, they were fantastic.  I've snorkeled many times and love diving down to the bottom for a closeup look at things (although my form isn't great 😁).

In 2018 we were on a Caribbean cruise with 8 port stops. We did the cruise because it had stops in the ABC islands. We had never been to Bonaire before and always wanted to go there.

We have been to Aruba and Curaçao several times and they are two of our favorite places to visit.

@Sunshine3601 @Jimbo I think @Arzeenaand anyone else sailing, continue to enjoy your cruises.  Great pictures especially the Northern Lights, something I doubt I will ever see in person.

@dani negreanu Dani, I'm sure you're having (or had if you're back home) a wonderful time in Amsterdam with your beautiful family.  I know it will be (was) so hard saying goodbye.

I have a painful tooth saga.  My regular dentist referred me to an Endodontist for root canal on 2 teeth.  Long story short, both really have to be extracted.  Regular dentist doesn't pull teeth and gave me a few referrals.  The one I chose, looked 21 and when asked, informed me she was practicing dentistry for 1 year.  I told her I would think about it and asked if she could prescribe a pain killer for now.  Imagine my surprise when she told me she wasn't certified to prescribe meds.  Huh?  How is it possible for her to pull teeth and not prescribe antibiotics or pain meds?  I heard enough, didn't ask questions, just thanked her, walked out and found a dentist on referral who has been practicing more than a year and is certified to prescribes meds.

It should have been a wake up call when I checked the young dentist bio on the group website and she wasn't listed.  I asked the front desk and was told she worked out of a different location and was filling in while one of their dentists was out on maternity leave.

Sorry for such a long story for two such little teeth!🦷🦷
