Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

I need help planning what to do for our port days on our next cruise which is in May to the Bahamas.

In Nassau we just want a beach day with snorkeling.  I was going to book Blue Lagoon but that is no longer available at this time.  There is Pearl Island but the snorkeling is only a 30 min. guided trail.  On Cocoa Cay we are just going to the Chill Island part and hopefully find chairs in the shade for the day.

For Grand Bahamas I am thinking the caves and beach excursion that is offered.  We have never been to the Bahamas before for so I need ideas.  We like beaches with amenities and hopefully good snorkeling.  We would like to avoid most of the vendors in our face as much as possible.  I really appreciate any help.

Hi Greg:How is Linda feeling ?

Actually pretty good. The nerve block is wearing off but her pain is not bad at all. Still having problems getting a good sleep as she can’t get comfortable. She doesn’t need the ice machine 24 hours now just for 30 minutes 4 times a day. Hopefully the pain will not be bad. I’m sure she will feel it when she starts physical therapy. Hope you are well Lenny!

Almost had a sunrise.

This is the most sun we have had the last few days. Unfortunately it has been cool, and if the sun was out it would be warmer. Currently it is overcast.

Same for us. Cool and overcast, and no sunrise.  Waves crashing at the beach.

The pool and spa heater quit working overnight, so now we have to run it in service mode, and manually switch between the pool and spa.  Kids said the pool was getting a little cool.

And Daryl?  Somehow, he has evidently ended up in the hospital.

WE have been having a  lot of solid overcast weather lately here in south Florida.

Looks like Andrew is experiencing the same thing in Cancun.

Has an email from the HOA that our community pool is a bit cool at 80F, the target temp is 86F.  I never expected to see them keep it that warm.

Ghosts US is really funny, and we enjoy it.

We used to love Being Human, British version. The US Version was a poor imitation. In this case, we enjoy (US) Ghosts. Young couple buys mansion to turn it into an Airbnb. Ghosts make up most of the cast. She can see them, but he can't. Lighthearted comedy. Even at $300/month, we don't watch much TV but enjoy it. ☺️

We also enjoyed the british version of Being Human (much better the US version).

Bit overcast and chilly here today.   Will be so nice to have a 3 day weekend.   Last weekend flew by with Christmas and all the prepping.      I guss we have our Son Chris and his Wife Donna hooked on cruising.    Last weekend they were showing us some cruises they really want to try and wanted our opinions.     Possibly looking to book a Norway and Med cruise for 2025 with them.

My SIL Linda is doing really well after her knee replacement (surgery was on the 13th).    My Brother has a problem with her sitting still he said she gets up and is trying to do more than she should then complains at night.       Very sad to hear that her Sister passed away on Thursday at the age of 63..    She was in the hospital last weekend for rectal bleeding and released on Christmas Eve with a list of tests to get scheduled.    She was found dead on her toilet after the visiting nurse called her emergency number because no one answered the phone or door.   Horrible way to go!   May she Rest in Peace.

Her poor Mother lost her Son (Linda's Brother) last year and her Sister earlier this year.   Linda said she was in shock / disbelief when she went to give her the news in person.

Good afternoon.

The last 26 hours with out a iPhone was very interesting.

To start the last couple weeks it has been doing weird things.

Namely:

It could be on charger with no one near it and call someone.

Attempting to send a picture was a joke. All my contacts disappeared and when you hit airdrop to send to person next to you could not find them. Yess their phone was on.

Sending a text was hit or miss.
Sometimes it would open messenger and others by touching it did nothing.

So not being smart phone savvy I took pictures of my phone screen when it acted up.

So off to the Apple Store in the big city (Cleveland). And at first when I told the apple man what was going on I got. “The look”.
I told him. Here’s pictures.

So he pushes many buttons on his I phone which was now linked to his and goes it works fine.

Now, totally frustrated. I go let me show you.
So I attempt to send a picture to Rick. And airdrop would not work.
Then I tried to text a message to my daughter and the friends bar was greyed out.
He goes.
Simple fix.
Completely shuts phone down by the apple way. Then he goes that will fix it.
Uh. Nope. Still not working.

Then he re links it to his computer and and does a program search. He goes it checks out fine. Try it now.

Funny man.
Frustrated man.
Unable to fix it.

Then he calls over the main rocket scientist.
He does the same things already done.
Not working.

Next thing you know he calls the technician from the service room out.

Yup. Nada. Nothing works.

90 minutes later …,,

So thank heavens we purchased Apple care. Our phones are 12 months old.
So the kept the camera and shell case and replace the internal brains of an iPhone.

So my iPhone camped out last night at the store and we were there  as the store opened.

So they bring out my phone and we were unable to check it because new phone, new SIM card. not activated by phone carrier.
Screen protector removed.
So bought new screen protector.
If I did not pre purchase Apple care I would have had to pay $569 for a repair I did not know if it worked.

Off to AT&T.
New SIM card

Memory restored from all Apps to pictures to things I forgot.

So now I attempt to send a text.

OMG!!! It worked.
Able to send pictures.

Happy in Ohio

AKA Sue.

@Sunshine3601  So sorry to hear the sad news. Prayers for your family.

@ReneeFLL  Love your purse.  I remember the beautiful one you had with you on the Bella cruise.

@mo&fran  Hope you see some sunshine soon.   We've had about 10 days straight of nothing but clouds and rain.  There is no snow in the whole state.  The skiers and snowmobilers are very disappointed in the season so far.

@Sea Dog  Glad Linda is doing well.  As others have stated, the physical therapy is very important.  I didn't think I'd ever be able to raise my arm after my rotator cuff surgery.  Now, I can't even tell I ever had an issue.  I did take about 6 months to a year to have full recovery.  Tell her to hang in there.  It will get better.

@A&L_Ont  Looks like a wonderful place.  Glad you are all enjoying it.

Busy week ahead.  Finishing up packing, haircuts, pedicure and all the other pre-cruise stuff to take care of.   We fly out on Friday to Baltimore where we'll catch Vision of the Seas on Saturday for a 13 nighter to the Southern Caribbean.   It will be nice to see some sunshine and warm weather.

Hope everyone has a wonderful and Happy New Year!   Wish you all peace and good health for the new year ahead.

This afternoon by our pool they hosted a water ballon fight. Not sure the end resolve but it looks like they had fun. All I could thing of is latex in the pool pumps, but that’s the pool owner in me.

Our New Year’s Eve meal will be hibachi.  They should be able to squeeze the 9 of us around one table.

That looks almost as crowded as a Royal pool.

I agreed with you.

Thankfully this is the smallest pool on site for the Diamond Club. We have found out that if you are a Marriott Bonvoy Elite you also get access to this area and other perks too. We have chatted with a few along the way. It is like Royal’s highest ranked Casino members getting Pinnacle Perks.
