We just got back from a TA on Odyssey.  Any questions, just ask away.  We really like Odyssey.  It seemed like a long ship but it was manageable, even for me.  On Deck 5, from one end of the elevator in the back to the front where the Royal Theater and Diamond Lounge is really is not that long a walk.  People say that this ship is narrower than the others and that’s why it rocks a little more with motion.  The captain didn’t agree with that theory.

DH did the FlowRider on the first day.  There were so serious riders here.  Always long lines.

Then he tried the iFly.  Free on the first day of the cruise.

For our January and March cruises I purchased yesterday at $13.99 Surf and Stream for one device. Additional device for $11.99 but as others reported that came out more expensive in the cart, so I purchased one plan per person for one device.  Today it is $14.99.
No "surf only" option seen.

When and where are you sailing OB?

Looks like Odyssey Jan 28 to Labadee, Aruba, and Curacao. I haven't been to those islands in quite awhile and looking forward to returning. I'm also hoping to finally getting the opportunity to climb the California Lighthouse in Aruba.

This will be my first time on a Quantum class ship and I'm looking forward to exploring a ship that is new to me. I'll have three sea days for exploration... and relaxing. I have not had a lot of interest in Q class ships as they don't have a Royal Promenade but timing and pricing won out. We will see how it goes.

Sounds like a great itinerary. I too like the 3 sea days. I will be anxious to hear about your adventures.

Great to hear your little grandson was discharged and is his normal happy lively little self.  Best news, Sue!!  How is your other little guy feeling?

Thank you 😊

He went back to nursery on Friday and all well. Our baby grandson Theo , the two month old, is fine, just a cold.  He's pretty robust. His parents took him out last night to see some Christmas illuminations. He was all snuggled up in a warm Teddy bear snow suit and looked so cute

Thank you for this info 🤩

That would be awesome if you join us next September on the Serenade repo🥰    We, also, love the Serenade and nice itinerary for the repo too!  We booked an ovb on deck 7 towards aft with the extended balcony for $1945 with port fees.  Pretty good price for a 12 night sailing.

Would be fab if you could join us on the Serenade next September 😀

I'm super excited!  My Ukulele group just got invited to play at one of the biggest concerts in the city (which is hosted every year) next week and today I found out I have a featured part in the concert!

I'm singing the lead part in John Lennon's "So This Is Christmas ("War Is Over)"!

Oh and it's my birthday next week!

Congratulations,  how wonderful to have musical talent.👏

There isn't a Royal Promenade but there is a two level Royal Esplanade that is a little narrower than the Royal Promenade.

Is Linda better?

Have fun tonight.... DH has just invented a new dish today, and it was a smashing success all around.

Great itinerary! Curacao is my favorite.

Have you ever considered the Anthem, considering it is in driving proximity to you? Just curious.
And the Sorrento's on the Anthem is the best in the fleet, I promise (among the Sorrentos I have tried on Royal ships). LOL!🤣🤣Is that incentive enough?🤣🤣 😛

This is where I sit to rest and people watch on Deck 4 Royal Esplanade.  Get my Cappuccino from the Diamond Lounge and find me a seat near Starbucks and watch people shop for T-shirts, watches, etc.  Somehow, I still call it the Royal Promenade though.

Wow, so many dishes. I like the way you "think" 😉

Since we're 7 hours ahead of you, DH was asked by our dinner friends to prepare some kind of salmon ceviche. He marinated the salmon, cut it in small cubes, added small cubes of avocado, smallish cubes of persimmon, purple onion, slightly grilled pine nuts and squeezed half a lemon. Delish.... and no leftovers.

The other dish was pasta which he prepared himself, "teared" it and mixed it with his own recipe of Bolognese sauce. Shredded parmesan cheese on top.

Myself - I've baked the fluffiest, airiest cheese cake ever. 2/3 -- 5% fat white cheese, 1/3 - 9%. The "trick" was 5 eggs, with the whites whipped to a "flexible foam" and then slowly "integrated" into the cheese.

Reminds me of growing up in Williamsville during the Blizzard of 77.  The worst hit areas of Buffalo had 100 inches of snow over 5 days.  As a kid, it was a winter wonderland.  Not so much for the adults.  Some houses were literally buried in drifting snow from 50+ mph winds and snowmobiles were the only way to reach some people.  My best friend's parents kept their camping trailer parked about 4 feet from the side of their garage.  We packed the snow between the garage and the trailer and made a skip jump.

Remember the Blizzard of 1977 quite well, we were on our Senior(High School) Class Trip in the Catskills Mountains in upstate NY.

The storm prolonged our trip and got us a few  extra free 😁 days longer trip because it was unsafe to leave the resort.

Not much difference between Esplanade and Promenade in my opinion. I kinda prefer Esplanade because it has two levels for much of it

The Q class has a 2 level esplanade.   1st level is retail shops with sorrento, parks cafe and pub mixed in.  Diamond lounge has some windows, which is better than O class where you feel like you are in a basement.    2nd level is restaurants and I think the stupid bionic bar and schooners.

We use the 2nd level a lot of time to get from one end of ship to other.

I think you will like it😀

I like the outside path to avoid the crowds when Two70 gets out. Dumps you near aft elevators

I have thought about it. However, I cruise in winter to escape the cold and I don't want to spend 1-2 days each way in cold weather. Also, I really enjoy flying. It is part in my vacation. So cruising from Florida or San Juan really works best for me.

I do, however, enjoy cruising to Bermuda from Boston or NYC.

What can you tell me about the shows on Odyssey? Is something a "not to be missed"? I am feeling like such a novice all of a sudden. I actually need to study deck plans for the first time in a very long time!😮
