How do you keep your patio area so incredibly clean, Andrew? There aren't even any leaves. Do you have a force field over the area? ☺️ We always have at least a few leaves, twigs and sunflower seed shells and bird poop on the deck. 😃

DH, in the perpetual quest to "diversify" his "repertoire", please welcome .... "lahmajun"

Lahmacun, Lahmajun, or Lahmadjo, is a Middle Eastern flatbread topped with minced meat, minced vegetables, and herbs including onions, garlic, tomatoes, red peppers, and parsley, flavored with spices such as chili pepper and paprika, then baked.

I've just finished posting here when the air raid alarm was sound.... again. I couldn't believe my ears and had a hard time convincing DH that it is a "real" one and we should rush to the shelter.

It doesn't end. So many casualties on both sides and, after almost 8 months of war, we're back to square one 😢

Dani, I am so sorry that this horror just seems to go on and on.  I pray every morning for peace in Israel🙏.  I watched on the news today as the sirens were sounding and saw people running for shelter.  Stay safe, my friend.  Peace for you, your family, and for Israel.❤️

LOL!  After looking at Andrew's patio area, @A&L_Ont, Deb's @Momof3gurlz pool pavers, and other posts on here, I asked Jim "how come no one has weeds on their pavers?"   I feel that we're so behind since coming home from Florida last month, and having no Spring, weather-wise. to work outside until just recently.  My eye is still a mess from last Monday getting the bug in my eye while mowing the lawn.  I just hope the eye surgeon will still perform the lazer procedure on Tuesday that I've been scheduled to have before this happened last week.

@jagsfan  So sorry to hear of your awful fall that has you in Rehab for your leg, and of how painful this is for you.  I was wondering where you had been!  I do hope you feel better quickly.🌹

Congratulations on your granddaughter's Wedding!

Yep - $2/bag sale however they are the 1.5 cu. ft. bags.  The spring sale in April was $2/bag but was 2 cu. ft per bag.  Little mad I didn’t get the better deal but I didn’t have time in April.

Enjoy the outdoor time! 🍻

I feel the same.   We, too, missed the April sale.

At least it is easier to carry/handle 1.5 bags.

I had umbilical hernia surgery almost 3 months ago and truthfully I don't recall being on a post hernia diet.  I had enough pain the first 3-4 days post surgery that my appetite was next to nothing.  Everyone recovers differently and I hope yours is less painful than mine.

4 hours ago, StanleyandGus said:

My surgeon pulled my stomach back below my diaphragm and did a fold so it remained in place. Probably the diet is to make sure that no seeds or bits of vegetables get stuck in where it’s healing.

Mine was laparoscopic, so I’m feeling fine now!

Umbilical and hiatal hernias are two very different entities. Post op treatment is very different.

Yet another severe storm rolled through and now we have been without power for over an hour.  hopefully power is restored soon.  Good news is that we have plenty of candles and a couple batteries charged for phones and pouring bourbon requires no power  🙂

Baseball games are finally over for the day.  What I neglected to mention earlier, was that these games were all-star games.   Teams made up of the best players around the region would play elimination games until one was crowned as the champions.

The original plan was to play two games on Saturday, and advance to the elimination games today.  When the heavy rains came yesterday, they decided to play all of them today.

I mentioned that grandson’s team won the first game 7-3, and the second game 2-1.  After a couple hour break that allowed us to pick up some things for Memorial Day cookout, we returned to watch game 3 for the day.  The starting pitcher for our grandson’s team gave up four runs by the second inning and bases were loaded with one out when our grandson came in to pitch.  He closed out the inning and didn’t give up any runs the rest of the game, and they won it 14-4.

What I hadn’t known earlier was that by winning that game they would play in a fourth game for the day for the All-Star championship.  That had to be the best game of the day, with two well matched teams.  They had last at bat, and were down 3-2 in the final inning when they came back for a 4-3 win.

Finally off the field at 6 pm, with enough time to cut the grass before the latest storm arrived.

Right, you are.  We bought all her costumes this year, so I know how much they are.

Went to dance recital for one granddaughter 2 weeks ago and the other one yesterday.  The first in in 4 dances and the costumes and cost of the classes etc is quite pricey.  On the other hand, her brother plays basketball and soccer and there are games, practices, travel etc.  I help out financially as well.  Seeing all my grandchildren dance / play is definitely a highlight of my life.

Sue, I don't want to "interfere" with @twangster 's thread, so here's our day in Cobh (Cork) --

The train station to Cork is right at the pier. We took the train into Cork, walked to the English Market, had time to browse at Marks & Spencer (which you still have in UK 😉), coffee break, and then took the bus to Kinsale. Wandered about this small and quaint place for less than an hour, took the bus back to Cork, and the train to the pier. Had still time to walk to the Cathedral there and took our sweet time to re-board the ship.

I hope everyone has a safe, and enjoyable Memorial Day.  It is raining here, so it looks like our cookout will move indoors. Photos later.

I think we spent way over the average cost that some stories have reported. Filet mignon and ribs are on our menu.

I saw this on our walk earlier this week.

What happens when you send some boys out to pick up some things, and they want to pocket that cash.

It wasn’t long after I took the photo that uniformed officers put a stop to their dumpster diving. 😂

What do you think?   The blue layer without the crushed ice.

@dani negreanuI haven’t been here  in a long time for various reasons, but had to come today to say how sorry your national nightmare is continuing and you had the sounds of rockets and air raid alarms in Tel Aviv.
It just goes on and on, big conflicts that destroy hundreds of lives at a time, and small ones that destroy families.
I had a very bad fall and fractured my femur as well as breaking off pieces of it.
my surgery was May 15, just 11 days after my granddaughter’s wedding.
I am so grateful I was able to be healthy for the wedding.
I am not allowed to put my right foot on the floor for a minimum of 3 months.
my left leg won’t hold me up,

so they’re working on strengthening it.
With not  much luck so far.
Getting me into a wheelchair requires a sling and lifting machine.
very painful.
I don’t know what my future holds, or what will happen when I leave the rehab hospital.
But I am grateful for the physical and mental safety for my family.
I hope and pray for the same in the future for the rest of the world.

Mimi, I’m so sorry for your terrible fall and injury.  Hope you’re on the road to recovery soon.

Just yesterday I was thinking about you, Mimi, and you had me worried that you didn't post anywhere for more than a month.

So very sorry about your unfortunate fall. Sincerely hope you'll be back real soon to your usual self. Glad you've at least got to enjoy your granddaughter wedding. Heartfelt congratulations and Mazal Tov 💐

How awful Dani. You are always in my 🙏

Your story brought back great memories of All-Star and playoff games back when my girls played softball.
It’s a very cool, dreary Memorial Day here after two absolutely perfect weather days. We have nothing planned, maybe some yard work if the showers let up.  It would be a good day to read, but lately I’m having trouble getting into anything I really like.  Maybe I’ll just browse cruises?!

Wishing all a safe Memorial Day.

Prayers for all who served as their lives and sacrifices are now just a memory.

And I still will respect those who live to share their hardships. Your service is truly appreciated. Wishing you safe peaceful days.
