Finally....A Little Excited

Like just about everyone here, I've booked, been canceled, booked, been canceled.....a lot.  

 

After this weeks Joy cancellation I booked the Gem NYC-Bahamas for Jan 2022...and I'm slightly excited.

 

One port is GSC...where there's nothing to do or see; the second port is Charleston SC, where we've never been, so a NCL excursion would be ok; the third port is Port Canaveral, for the very rare 9am-7pm day, where you could actually spend time at Kennedy Space Center.

 

I'm gonna follow Celebrity's requirement (masks, social distancing etc) and decide if I could live within those rules for a week.

 

Oh well, final payment isn't until early Sept....lots of things could happen....hopefully for the better.

You should be fine to go by then, I just booked RCL Harmony of the Seas for May 2022.. feeling confident that we will sail by then.

It warms my heart to see you feeling excited again.  I know you have struggled through this entire pandemic just as well all have.  Keep faith, I think Jan of 2022 should go for you!

Nothing to see or do? I’ve gotten to swim with pigs there and make some amazing crazy memories. It was a lot of fun. 
I’ve also tried parasailing there. 

I wouldn’t say there is nothing to do at GSC. Maybe, rather, nothing that interests you.

I wouldn’t say there is nothing to do at GSC. Maybe, rather, nothing that interests you. 

GSC is very relaxing- all you need to leave the ship is your key card . I enjoyed my 3 visits there.

Charleston is also great I went there on a non cruise music trip.

I wouldn’t say there is nothing to do at GSC. Maybe, rather, nothing that interests you. 

Nothing to do or see in terms of shopping or sightseeing.   No mandatory ship excursions if you want to leave the ship.

 

I used to like GSC years ago...before it was built up.  We used to go to the "now built up area" and it was really like a private island.  Now....just rows and rows of lounge chairs on a crowded beach.

Charleston is perhaps the most beautiful small city in the USA.  Tons to see from historic houses to nature safaris. Great food! It sounds like a wonderful itinerary. I have two NCL cruises booked for 2022 from New York🤞🏻

I too am a little excited about my May 2022 cruise....enough so I am researching the ports, something I have not even brought myself to do with my upcoming August cruise.  I just don't want to make plans and be disappointed.

Very strange...the price of flowers seems to have gone down.

I still have a gut feeling that USA ports will open in October. I have zero plans to cruise anytime soon (hoping to be pregnant later this year) but am excited to see something different on these boards!  I’m looking forward to the new Ships. I have a feeling that will be my first cruise in post covid world.

Wow!  I just got another one of those one time good deals today, book now and get two free offers.  But this good deal ends today!!!!!!   Again.....          I better jump quick.   There is no end to NCL's BS offers over and over.  I know I get at least two of the slick brochures a week.

I just rebooked again for Hawaii in April of 2022, and I’ve actually gone so far as to pull out my old list and sketch out a plan for the trip. My husband said it was nice to see me doing what I do best...obsessing over a cruise that’s over a year away!🤣

 

We’ve scheduled this one cruise SIX times! The first cancellation was for Dry Dock, but the rest were COVID related. This is the first time since our April 11, 2020 sailing was cancelled I’ve really felt optimistic we’ll get to go.

I know....fantastic deals never stop comin in! (I'm in a great mood today....impossible to rain on my parade.)

 

My deal was so good I'm only paying double for the same cruise as 3/2020.  But, I'd pay triple if necessary just to get back on a ship.  The good news is that I think I saved a few dollars on the flowers I ordered!

I've booked the 15 day Transatlantic in Apr 2022.  Hurry up 12 months.  I guess I will also try to get a shorter one in the summer.

I'm with you and MsTabbyKats.    I've had 5 cruises cancelled, but I am optimistic that we will be cruising in a few months.  (Just got my first vaccination!)   

 

I'm ready to get my cruise clipboards out and begin to work on those plans.😊

Sailed the GEM a few years ago. Absolutely loved it.  Met a lot of wonderful Cruise Critic that became cruise friends on that ship.

I've been on the Gem multiple times and although I think it's a great ship  I was hoping to go on "a new ship" (new for me) because I consider the ship "a port" and each "port" has new shows, new shops, new casino....each ship is unique.   

 

However, the itinerary was the deciding factor.  DH has been wanting to spend "the day" at Kennedy Space Center, and except for our first time there (10 years ago!), all the ships docked @ 1pm...which didn't leave much time for a visit.  And then there's Charleston.  As "Charleston virgins"...it looks like there'll be lots of things to choose from.  GSC...been there/done that....and more times than not it becomes a sea day anyway.

 

Now, it's up to the powers out of my control to make this happen.

Today....along with the relaxation of mask rules (transparency: I stopped wearing my mask outdoors 2 weeks after #2...which was 2 months ago) I am in  "extremely optimistic" cruise mode.

 

I booked an excursion with NCL; being that Charleston is a port we've never been to, I would have booked directly anyway.

 

Looking forward to life returning to normal normal.

I also booked in January of 2022.  On the Escape in the Haven.  We used our FCC to purchase from two cruises. The third we only used deposits and got those back.  So it won't cost that much "more" but we are down two cruises to one.

WE have been to Charleston on a cruise before,  LOVED it!  My question, think I understand as of now can only take NCL excursions??  OK with that.  But are you allowed to walk off the ship and explore town on your own.  this is what we did several years ago.  I guess this would apply to any cruise, no tour, but just walking about any Port??    Still waiting to push the buy button for a cruise, lol

So...logically, since Charleston is in the United States, and the president said we could walk outside without our masks, as long as we are vaccinated....in the normal normal world....we should be allowed to roam around on our own because no vaccine = no cruise.

 

My personal plan is to roam around and then go on the NCL excursion (2 pm...last one of the day...ship leaves at 5 pm).  Obviously I don't know what January will be like...covid, covid rules, NCL covid rules, even if the ship will sail.  If we can't roam, we'll just do the excursion.  But, I'm really feeling positive about life and the resumption of "living".
