What is the most beautiful Caribbean island ?

Recommended Posts

In 1994 my wife and I were on our first Caribbean cruise. One of the port stops was Martinique and I could not believe how beautiful the island was.The second time we were there ,in 2010 it did not seem to be that nice.

If I was asked the question today I would have to say St.Maarten.We have docked there 11 times.

My favorite is Saba, but you won't find any major cruise lines going there.

St. John is a close second, which is an easy jump from St. Thomas.

My honorable mentions would be Dominica, Bonaire, and Virgin Gorda.

It’s funny - People like different things.  I’m looking at a six stop Caribbean cruise and Barbados is the one port I haven’t found anything that calls to me. Though I have been thinking about golfing.

It depends what your definition of beautiful is. Some people confuse beautiful with exclusivity. You're not allowed to like anything everyone goes to.

I love me some St Kitts. Driving through it, it just feels different than most islands. A mountainous island, largely undeveloped, and has wild monkeys! Even the port is very well-kept. Hugely underrated island IMO.

St John also has some of the most gorgeous beaches. Trunk Bay is one of, if not the best, beach I have ever been to. It's an expensive hassle to get to on a cruise, but worth every penny to experience at least once.

They all have their pros and cons. Hell, the Bahamas have some gorgeous spots too. Went to Sandals Grand Bahamian and greatly enjoyed the crystal clear water and private island. No one can convince me that wasn't absolutely beautiful, no matter how many people go to Nassau.

For me Jamaica can be a great land vacation, but not so much on a cruise. I have a villa booked for next January on the far southern of the island. Away for massive tourism experiences and lots of quiet time and wonderful views.

To pick one island is hard for me, as it depends on my mood. I am not a fan of not being able to get away from the hawkers. One thing that my wife and I like to do is take tours that take us away from the main tourist spots and to areas where you learn and see more of the 'real' island. Not as good as an extended stay, but still very nice.

We have enjoyed Jamaica both ways. When we were there on a cruise, we took a Bob Marley bus tour excursion. And in addition to the wonderful music, it took us through parts of Jamaica that tourists usually do not see.

A vote for Jamaica among the most beautiful islands, but with the least guest friendly citizens.

I love rain forests.  Martinique, Dominica, and St. Lucia:  they are my most beautiful and with citizens with whom I have enjoyed pleasant--even memorable--interactions.

Are you interested in aviation history?  If it is still available, near their airport there was exhibit created around one of the Concorde aircraft that carried Queen Elizabeth II to Barbados during a visit to the island.  One could enter the aircraft at the tail and walk through the plane.  One could sit in one of the seats and listen to an informative presentation about the plane.  By sheer luck, my seat was the one in which Her Majesty sat.  (Afterwards, however, my posterior did not feel any more "royal" than before.  🤣)

Sounds awesome. But sadly is currently closed. Bummer.

Not surprising.  As tourism resumes and, if you are interested, keep checking.  This facility occupies a good sized amount of land and to maintain the conditions within the hanger type building to preserve the plane, someone is having to pay some good amounts of money, I suspect.

We visited the Harrison Caves when we were on a cruise stop in Barbados, and it was fascinating.
