Princess Cruises introduces all-inclusive Premier Package

With love to Johnny Carson (may he RIP):

SWAMI Says:  Plus Beverage Package

Question:

What will Princess rename the pre-existing Premier Beverage Package to avoid confusion with the brand-spanking-new Premier Beverage Package?

SWAMI Says:  ROFLMAO

Question:

What will Passenger Service Desk reps do when guests booked on the PLUS fare show printed out Travel Summaries that indicate "Premier Beverage Package"?

  • Princess Standard cruise package, including the standard cruise fare
  • Princess Plus
  • NEW! Princess Premier

So, the important word is 'Princess' so, 'Princess Premier' is different to Premier Beverage Package.

On Princess's website about their drink packages, this new drink package is just called the "Premier Beverage Package". The old one is now called "Plus Beverage Package".    https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/food-and-dining/beverages/

It’s already more difficult to make specialty restaurant reservations due to so many receiving it as a booking benefit & it will get even more difficult with these Premiere dinners.

This right here. Most people are not enjoying having to pre-book everything long before their cruise just to get an enjoyable dining experience.

Sometimes I think there is a huckster at PCL HQ dreaming up ways to separate guests from their money aside from the Casino games.

Mr Padgett should be focusing on fixing the MC App and DMW instead of more lame-brained sales tactics.

In the current economy, Padgett has a choice to make:  1.  Raise the cruise fares (inflation.)  2.  Keep the fares stable and reduce some services (shrinkflation.)  Name your poison.  I for one would opt for No. 1 as I at least know what I'm getting for my hard-earned money (even if it's a little more.)  I think many more people would be angry booking a cruise for about the same cost as pre-pandemic only to find out that the Buffet is included in the fare, but the MDR will have an upcharge for each sitting and the theater will be charging an admission fee.  (Maybe watching the shows playing in Princess Theater on your cabin TV could be included in the fare.  🤷‍♂️) I'd rather know up front what I'm buying.

While it may be cool to have a premiere package with all the extras, I was hoping for something between standard and plus that cost a bit less but included the coffee and soda package - something suitable for those that don't/rarely drink alcohol and for minors too young.

Good point and under Onboard Services, Beverage Packages, the old package is still referred to as Premier. If you click 'learn more' on your link it shows: My point is I doubt they have upgraded Plus to new Premier.

I'm curious about the Princess Prizes. Is it only available to premiere customers? Can you purchase it separately?

Yep its pretty ridiculous at the moment, I have the Premier Beverage Package listed as complimentary from Princess (old Plus package) but do I have the Premier Beverage Package or the Premier Beverage Package ? 🙂

If you're cruising in the Australian region you'll have the second one otherwise you'll have the first one. And neither of those are the new package.

That’s included with Princess Premier but Princess Prizes can also be purchased for anyone:

For a one-time entry fee per stateroom of $20 per day, when purchased separately, every time an adult guest accesses their stateroom with their Medallion*, they will have the chance to win grand prizes that include $100,000 in cash and a cruise for two every year for the next decade, along with prizes won on every voyage that range from a cruise for two in a balcony stateroom, onboard cruise credits from $25 up to $250, wine tastings, and chef’s table dinners. Guests can also win entries for an end-of-cruise drawing in which someone will win at least $5,000 every voyage.

That verbiage is the same as in the past. I pulled a copy of my travel summary from last month and that is exactly the same verbiage.

I booked a casino comped cruise and my "gifts and summary" page says I have this.    So, do I have the Premier or just the Plus?     Guess who'll be fighting this when I get on board.....LOL

You have a good point.  In my two upcoming sailings it does show "Premier Beverage Package" so I am going to be printing that now! LOL!

Now we know why Princess is holding back on releasing fall/winter Caribbean voyages.  They would have been normally released a least a month ago but by holding back everybody wanting the package will have to pay the new price.

I swear to God that I never saw any mention of PLUS in the name of a Princess Drink package before posting the above.  It said Premier twice in my Cruise Personalizer under Onboard Services.

Now, it calls them both PLUS!!!  Clearly the IT Team is doing their usual bang-up job!! Surely they are due for a raise or at least a bonus.  Here is my Onboard Services page now:

Packages are not added to your booking until they are paid for. Prices include service charge.

Your link to an informational marketing page shows the new names for the drink packages (i.e. outside the Cruise Personalizer).

I feel pretty proud of myself - if I do say so myself - at nailing the new correct package names which I honestly had not seen before posting.  If only I was as smart at some other things...........

Oh darn, it was Carnac, wasn't it?  Very good.  Thanks so much for the correction.  Now I feel bad and my apologies to all the Carson fans out there.  There was only one and they broke the mold.

Our bookings now show Premier as well, with a higher list price, so it looks like they are upgrading folks to Premiere.

I'm not sure about that. I actually think that prior to the new pricing tier, it was always listed as "Premier Drink Package" in the personalizer.   So I have a feeling that once the Premiere pricing goes into effect it will be renamed in the personalizer.

Where are you guys seeing the spelling "Premiere" used?  I am not seeing that.

When I click on the links for full T&C, both links pull up the same pop-up page which is for the old Premier package - the lower-priced one.

Another anomaly they have is that they have not changed the purchase price for the old Premier/new Plus package from $71, so the new Premier Package is set at $87, which is not 50% higher than the old Plus package.  Kind of dumb in a way since the Cruise Fare differential is 50% ($50 for the Plus and $75 for the Premier).

Nonsensical pricing IMO.  With $87 on the new package, the old one should be $58.  Looks like someone screwed up or forgot the 18% in one case, or just made up a number that was something more than the Cruise Fare up-charge so the package would cost something more in the Personalizer.

This change to "Plus Beverage Package" in the cruise planner happened today sometime.  When I looked earlier today it was calling it the "Premier Beverage Package" for those prices and with those dollar limits.  When I log in now, I see what you show in this screenshot.  If I scroll down though to my Reservations and Purchases, it still says I have the "Premier Beverage Package Including Service Charges".  We'll see if that changes in the upcoming days.
