Do people really pay this price per person?

I booked last year on Beyond for this October.  I was lucky to get a sky suite at a casino rate and am paying $310 per person per night. which is more than I've paid for 11 prior cruises.

I'm looking at the same sky suite pricing now on the same cruise and it's over $1,000 per person per night!! (sale price after discounts)

Do people really pay this much for a sky suite on Celebrity?  I know it's all about supply and demand, but this price seems nuts.

What are your limits for a Celebrity cabin?

What's the price point you're looking for, for an Inside, Verandah, Aqua or Sky suite?

Yep and they still sell out.

It depends on itinerary. For the Caribbean, I plan for around $700-$800 per person per night during busy periods for an Edge class Sky Suite. It would of course be higher during very peak periods and lower during the off seasons. The Beyond is likely demanding higher due to its newness and the popularity of Captain Kate.

Apparently people do. We have a SS2 booked on the  Beyond for $350 pp pm  slightly more than you (no casino rate for us 😂) Suites on our sailing have been sold out but final payment is approaching and some suites have opened up.  Prices now start at just over $900 pp pn.  Final is due next week so I expect there will be more cancellations

I agree , we have Beyond booked for end of November, got a good deal I think, corner aft sky suite for under 3k per including everything plus 400 each OBC , shorty after it went up 1k per person , now as you said about 1k per day. Before booking I also looked at allure grand suite and for same week it was more than beyond and didn’t include liquor package, tips and OBC.

Simple answer.  People pay what is comfortable for them.  As in all walks of life.  Not just cruise cabins.  Why does somebody else's price point really matter?

I think this 60% off the 2nd guest offer is screwing everything up - it’s way more expensive booking for 2 people, let alone the rate it says it costs for the fare for one person.  I keep waiting for the sale to end to see normal prices again, and just got an email that Celebrity has extended the “Greatest offer of the Year” again 👎

I wouldn't pay that much on a mass market cruise line.

The Suites sell very quickly so Celebrity is only reflecting the demand. I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices would continue to go up as long as the demand is strong. I wouldn’t book at these prices since I can book a more luxury lines at the same price, but they don’t need me to book. They only need enough to sell out the suites and they don’t have a problem filling them.

Are you suggesting they raised prices before they offered a 60% off discount?  😲

More power to those willing to pay $1000 pn pp.... People who are willing to do that..help subsidize my significantly cheaper 1A cabin. If not for them... I would not be able to cruise that often. And since they pay so much more than I am willing to pay...I do not begrudge the extra perks they get..they have paid for them...  A few years ago.. I looked for 7 day cruises on Royal (balcony) for less than $150 pn pp... But in moving towards Celebrity and its longer itineraries and better food etc.... it creeped up... but last cruise was about $188 with AI and next one is about $180. But looking at the price increases over the past month the same cabin would now cost an estimated additional $50-$75 depending on the sale...with AI.

When looking at the 60% discounts...you really need to drill down and look at the pre discounted gross price... I noticed my cabin when up about 45% vs when I booked in Jan

Must be a high demand itinerary + an overpriced E class fare combined.  That's just crazy.

There's a Celebrity Suite that just popped up and has been lingering as available for a few days on an S class 13 nt cruise we're going to be taking, and even at today's inflated prices, it's $16,750 all-in, so $644 pp pd.

For $1000 pp pn, you can buy a lot more cruise elsewhere around the X fleet.

Im not sure the pre-discounted gross price really means anything anymore.  It's like the "Suggested Retail Price"

I drill down an look to see what the end price is made of... when you see a large percentage discounts.. it matters if the price it applies to had changed dramatically... so I like to look at each component including perks...but then I am cheap...and retired with the time to do that..... While you are correct in that the base price is meaningless...the discounts are applied to that. So to make deal look good..they have to raise the base to allow big discount...

I agree with this.

One has to value each of the perks in the "deal" and do an apples to apples comparison.

If one "deal" includes OBC, tips, drink packages, etc that has to be factored.

The itineraries are a bit unique. The only October cruises on Beyond are the last 9 night France/Italy/Spain cruise, the TA, then the 9 night New Jersey/Bermuda/Aruba/Curacao itinerary which has always been expensive.

But to answer the question, yes, people are willing to pay for it. Whether it's worth it to someone else and their circumstances is up for debate but ultimately it doesn't really matter.

For another perspective:  We are paying $163 pp/pn for our upcoming Equinox 9 nighter in a balcony on 9. Our upper limit probably would be @ $225 for a balcony on X. (Our first cruise was 10 nights in Aqua in April 2019 for $220 pp/pn.)

Had a balcony on Allure in October 2019 for a 14 night b2b that cost us @ $128. Too much for the Central Park balcony we had, but I was not willing to go up to $150 for an Oceanview cabin.

We don't have the resources to spend more, but I retired at 50 and the tradeoff is well worth it.  I admire those who worked harder and longer and earned their suites, but I am not envious because the Retreat deck, the drink setups, the butler, and Luminae would be lost on me.

Now, the extra space...oh, well, leg bruises go away in a week or two!

The amount of people that cruise out of the total population is very small.

Most people in my area, and people that I worked with  have never been in a cruise.  None of my relatives have ever been on one.

Many that do take a cruise look at it  as once on a lifetime for a special occasion, splurge, and think they will get something special because it is their special occasion only to find many others are doing the same and it isn’t really that special.   Others do it because they can afford to spend the amount,  are addicted to cruising, willing to pay the price and accept it as the cost of everything is rising.

Happy cruising  🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
