I forgot to take food picks. But breakfast in MDR is a little slow. Could be because everyone decided to show up right at 8am.

But the line moved fast.

I had the Eggs Benedict and French Toast. Sorry no pictures. I love Royal’s French toast on thick brioche bread. The only problem  with the Eggs Benedict is that it was warm and not hot. Still edible but there’s nothing like a hot breakfast.

Up there in the middle was where the Chef’s Table was. We have not docked in Grand Cayman yet. Looking forward to today’s adventure Stingray City Sandbar and Camana Bay.

Could you describe 'The World' chocolate dessert, please?  Thanks!

A chocolate filled globe with beautiful peanut butter ganache, velvet smooth chocolate mousse and perfectly. balanced salted caramel ice cream with a good dusting on the top of the dome. Hot caramel sauce  is poured over top to melt and break open the sphere. It is a chocolate lovers dream and the best dessert I’ve ever eaten.

It has to be incredible if it beat out that amazing chocolate croissant at Sunflower Bakery in Galveston.

Here's YouTube video that someone posted a few months ago showing the melting of the sphere that Greg described.  You can also get The World for dessert at the Wonderland specialty restaurant.

This is one dessert we need to add to our list, when we get back to cruising.

Stingray City Grand Cayman

Our excursion started by boarding a tender to take us ashore.

Then board a bus that took us to a marina where we picked up a boat.

After a 20 minute boat ride we ended up to a beautiful sandbar  with about 3-4 feet of unbelievable clear warm water. I could have just stood there for days and be happy.

The stingrays were very gentle and docile. Many knowing that the tour company brings plenty of squid to feed them. To touch they are so soft and a little bit slimy. I loved petting them as they swam right by me.

Kiss a Stingray and it supposedly gives you 7 years good luck. I wish I would have kissed one before my fall. $40 got us 13 pictures.

I hopefully got some great Go Pro video which I’ll download, edit and share later. Great day to be in the water swimming with these beautiful creatures.

Thanks!  Someone brought Widow Jane a few months back and it was very good!  I'll look for the others - I always need something interesting.  I almost always have to go out of state for anything good - Alabama's liquor board only buys what they want us to have, and a lot of stuff is "allocated" - and not crazy stuff like Pappy, but typical choices like Blanton's and Woodford.

I have not been able to find Blanton’s in my area of VA in years.  When they get it in, it is only sold by lottery basis.

Ditto around here.  The only place that I've found it is Gulmohar's Whisky Paradise in St. Maarten.

I miss the warm water, as I see the chunky rain/snow mix fall down from the sky.

What a great day.  We did something similar and until you feel one it is hard to explain it.  You nailed it.

It sure looks like the stingray is trying to besmirch the sea dog’s good image in this photo.  He’s just rubbing up against you.  I guess, if it was rubbing your leg it would be a different situation. 😂

Glad you enjoyed it! They are great (and for us it’s important that an animal encounter tour doesn’t impinge on the animal/mammal like requiring them to be captive). We did a private snorkeling tour in St Maarten a few years back where we encountered sting rays. The boat hat squid onboard to give them - the instruction was to hold it loosely and they would take it. Apparently I was holding my squid too tightly as the sting ray took a small part of my finger trying to get it away from me. But it was kind of cool, now I’m part of a stingray somewhere out in the Caribbean 🤣

I think the ray is trying to get Mr. Seadog's attention away from Mrs. Seadog.

Totally agree. The fact that we were in their environment and they could come and go was very important to us. As much as I would like to swim a dolphin I will never do one where they are in captivity. One of the handlers from another tour group was telling me that his Stingray Sally has known him for 10 years. She recognizes his outfit and comes to him every time.

The bus looked like it was really packed in.  Agree with the touch of a stingray, smooth and silky.

How did you manage with your arm out of the sling?

It seemed ok in the water but it’s really hurting now. I’m sure pulling myself up out the water on a ladder did not help things. Going to take some Tylenol and lay down for an hour.

I bought some Blanton's at Publix in Florida back in August.  They had two bottles just sitting on the shelf!

An incredible dinner and what does that have to do with Neil Diamond? Well apparently not once but twice (early and late seating’s in the MDR) the staff was introduced and starting dancing around and the “Sweet Caroline” began playing and you know what happens. Normally I don’t mind but when it’s during the sommelier or Head Chef trying to explain the course it was annoying. Does anybody know how Sweet Caroline ended up being a people’s anthem. I remember when the song came out but never thought or imagined that everyone in the world would want to sing along.

After the world some celebratory cheesecake was served to several who had birthdays and finally to Linda and I who celebrated 25 years of marriage today.

I couldn’t think of a better dinner to share with the love of my life, my best friend and mother of my only child. Cheers to you love. Thank you for 25 incredible years. Let’s keep this party going and what better party than one at sea.

What a range of emotions! Your not great  hotel stirred up some bad memories, including a trip to the ER,  then meeting Elaine and making something special out of her first solo cruise, a shore excursion that made it possible to remember and honor  friends and loved ones, an extraordinary meal (for those of us who haven’t experienced it), ending with a lovely pair of then and now pictures!

What a great review it’s been so far!

But now you’ve planted Sweet Caroline in my head!

Dang! Forgot to say Happy Anniversary!
