rocklinmom Posted November 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2022 Is Bingo still a thing on Princess? I can't seem to find an answer. I search photos of current Patters and don't see it, or I'm missing it? Can someone who has sailed recently please confirm if we can still go the Vista Lounge and play Bingo? Or is it all online app stuff now?
memoak Posted November 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2022 You can still play but in my opinion it is a diluted product with the advent of tablets where people play tons of cards at a time and the tablet tells them when they win 1
Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted November 11, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2022 I do Bingo on every cruise. It is definitely "still a thing". Yes, some people really don't like the electronic tablets...you can still play with paper cards. Personally, I like the tablets. They let you manage a large number of playing cards at the same time. I'll be honest...I usually don't win but on our last cruise I actually won $340! (On a tablet) You really should go even if you don't play. You will not hear any cornier jokes other than those delivered by Fortuna Luck! 1
geniesue Posted November 11, 2022 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2022 We were recently on the Caribbean Princess for the Canada New England cruise. There was no Bingo. There was a new game Deal or No Deal, you bought cards for this in the Casino. The game was held in Princess theater. We did not go and have no idea how it works
PrincessLuver Posted November 11, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2022 Every cruise we were on this year had Bingo this year and so glad they jointed the 21st Century and you can play on tablets now too.
Rare oskidunker Posted November 11, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2022 If you don't pay the ransom to rent a tablet you have little chance of winning . It takes all the fun out of it as you really dont have to pay attention. We don’t play anymore
Rare Shelly97060 Posted November 11, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2022 (edited) @Rick&Jeannieor @PrincessLuver I haven’t played bingo on the ships since 2020 so interested in learning about the tablets, Do you use your own or is this something you rent/purchase from Princess when you purchase your Bingo tickets? looks like Oskidunker posted the answer to my question as I was positing my question 😄 Edited November 11, 2022 by Shelly97060
Sprocket Posted November 12, 2022 #8 Share Posted November 12, 2022 My husband goes I quit playing years ago. I did stop by last cruise to see how he was doing and it was so painfully slow no way I could play a session.

Papa Yoda Posted November 12, 2022 #10 Share Posted November 12, 2022 I won $150 on the Grand Princess this past April playing 3 paper cards. Only time I played. I guess I'm weird that I enjoyed the corny jokes, but FL was a lot over the top for me otherwise.

We don’t play anymore We'll have to agree to disagree on this one! 😃 I have played MANY times and in any given session of 4 games quite often someone on a paper ticket will win. I can't quote actual odds or likelihood but it is not at all uncommon to hear someone call BINGO who is using a paper card.
ChemistBabe Posted November 12, 2022 #12 Share Posted November 12, 2022 How much is BINGO and can my kids come and play? (They like to play on Disney cruises, the adult has to buy the cards and "win", but they are still welcome.)

Kids can definitely play...but since it is run by the casino staff any winnings will have to be collected by an adult. Now, what that adult chooses to actually *do* with those winnings is at your discretion!

We did not go and have no idea how it works It is played the same as the TV show -Deal Or No Deal that was hosted by Howie Mandel. If you get randomly selected to go up on the stage you can win money. Those in the audience who bought cards also have a chance to win a prize - though no one ever came close to the $1000 or free cruise prize

You can also choose to play on your own connected device if you download the OceanCasino app. If you have your own device you don't even have to be in the Bingo venue. We did this once when we had a conflicting event and even won when we weren't in the room. Talking to the Bingo staff afterwards they said it was a first for them and was terribly confusing until they realized it was a remote player.

SomewhereGirl Posted November 12, 2022 #17 Share Posted November 12, 2022 (edited) I played one game on my last cruise on a free single paper ticket they were handing out in the casino for like 15 minutes at one point. Didn't win. It was just something to do. Edited November 12, 2022 by SomewhereGirl

There is a cost to use the tablets and usually a person has to be in the room, call out Bingo and be verified to win. I do not understand how being in another part of the ship could qualify a person as a winner in Bingo and that they would allowed to be able to claim a prize?

Although I have never done this, I understand that if you play on your own device you actually *can* be anywhere on the ship. The "system" knows who you are just like in playing with the Princess supplied tablets. You log in using your device and play...but as I said, I've never done so. Fortuna talks about it in her opening spiel.

We have also won many times that way.

They always give you three chances to let them know you have a bingo before they close the game. I always thought you had to be present to win but maybe the times they are a changing. The bingo system is in constant communication with all tablets being played as well as any "standalone" devices located around the ship. That way, they know if you made *bingo* so you do not have to be in the room to audibly yell "BINGO".
