Thanks for the Fleet update and general info.

Interesting days to celebrate. I can seize the day by going to the Carnival or sailing on Carnival and enjoying my favorite nuts! Well, let’s skip sailing on Carnival. That was my first cruise in 1978 (except cruising around Dairy Queen) and my last Carnival cruise.

The drink of the day is Juan in a million!

Good morning friends!  Yawn...I woke up all night long so am pretty beat.  Today it's 60 right now and we expect cloudy skies with a high temp of 72.  Not very exciting but at least it's not a blizzard or something like so many others experienced lately.

Thanks to our friend Rich @richwmnfor the Daily and Fleet Report info for us to enjoy.   I'm happy to present it for him and Roy @rafinmd.  Thanks also to the food and beverage department ladies, and Vanessa @JazzyVwho posts the C & C lists for Roy while he recuperates.  I will pray for our Care list people and all around the world who suffer during war, earthquakes, cyclones and train derailments. 🙏 Hoping that list improves in our near future. Special prayers for Annie @marshhawkand Chuck. 💔 Cheers to our friends and family experiencing happy events.  I bet the cruisers who embarked yesterday are having a great time already!🥂 Maybe we will hear from some of them this week.

Today we have Carnival Day to celebrate so all you party people, go for it. 🎉 That's not me.  Carpe Diem Day represents the feeling that we should focus on the present, instead of worrying or planning for the future because this may be the only time that we get.🤗  National pistachio day is your chance to celebrate pistachios, which I can take or leave.  Today's quote will make the Jane Austen fans happy.  Hope Debbie @dfishhas some butternut squash mac and cheese recipes to tempt us all.  Another mixed drink I won't have because I really don't care for many liquors, and an Argentinian Malbec for the red wine lovers to savor.🍷

We have not been to Safaga, Egypt and probably won't because we cancelled the Grand Africa.  The port was last listed here on Oct. 16, 2021 and April 4, 2022.  Thanks in advance for any photos posted.

Since I'm not posting any photos of Safaga today, let me remind you that St. Patrick's Day is coming up in a few weeks.  DD has decorated her foyer Celebrations tree for March 17 so here you go!🌲00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVI_fFhS0OiCMMpi-XW2PVaOUnDnu4gHHWpfyYq5WwzmNg?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1677407497

All these round wooden ornaments were made and painted by her.  She sells them on her Facebook page.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJUF83fWctbGaeFOTSSczvOVZV51t4MhjbEwRNyGscOgg?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1677407499

So cute!  Really gets you into the spirit of the holiday.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIVgHWW7kh-2XpmyLZ1U2ibUnDnu4gHHWpfyYq5WwzmNg?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1677407498

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!  Be well and stay safe.🍀

Nice decorations! St Patrick’s Day on March 17th is several celebrations for me.

One, we leave on a cruise out of Tampa on 3/17!

Two, it was the day we moved into our house years ago.

Three, it was the only St. Patrick’s Day I was sober when we moved into our house years ago.

Four, wait, there are only three things!

PS: St LouisCruiser, you answered my question from yesterday. There is a port you haven’t been too. You need to start planning girl!

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  The kids let me sleep in until 5:30, of course Jasper had me awake at 2 for some attention.  I’ll pass on today’s meal suggestion, instead we are having a roast pork.

Yesterday’s Social Security session was worth attending.  My biggest takeaway was that I’m working at least until full benefits kick in.  I was planning on that anyway thanks to my addiction to sailing on those dam ships.  I think I’ll attend one next year to stay current and see what changes.  I’ll also make some time soon to setup a Social Security login.
After we had lunch/dinner at Texas Roadhouse we went to Loyal Companion. It’s a chain of pet stores that are closing at the end of the month.  We bought a lot of canned cat food, high end stuff, at 80% off.  The owner saw our our purchase and then offered 90% off if we bought more.  We wound up with about 370 cans of cat food for approximately $100.  Now I’m debating on going back and buying some stuff for a local rescue.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Report.

Chance of flurries and a high of -1°C (31°F).  Another storm is coming tomorrow, so we better enjoy today!  Bertie and I will go out for a walk soon.  It's nice the days are getting longer, the sun comes up a little after 7.

@StLouisCruisers Love the St Patrick's Day tree!

@Crazy For Cats Great deal on the cat food.  I hope the kids enjoy every bite.  It would be wonderful if you could get some good deals for the cat rescue too.

Just heard that Canadian great Gordon Pinsent (actor, director, writer) passed away at 92.

An interesting collection of days.  No Carnival in this house, we're very quiet.  Not sure how to "seize the day", maybe after breakfast.  I'll pass on the pistachios.

Love the quote, I can hear Colin Firth saying it.

I'll pass on the meal, but I'd give the cocktail a try, I'm sure I'd like the wine.

Another port we have not been to.

Prayers for everyone.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay safe.

Good afternoon on the first Sunday of Lent.

We had a lovely church service this morning.

It is currently 37°F and raining.

Thank you Sandi for posting today's fleet reports and Daily.

Interesting days and quote.

I will give today's food and drink a miss.

Wishing everyone on the care list much better health.

Graham.

Sandi, thank you for starting us off this morning! Rich thank you yet again for making sure we could meet every day! Vanessa, your keeping of our lists is much appreciated - you often catch something that I miss.

Another spectacular morning.  Yesterday was just filled to the brim with fun, activity, food and even some wine. I am hoping to sneak a quick trip to the gym in this morning. Then we all gather one last time for breakfast before wishing our visitors safe travels.  They are heading South to Vero Beach for a few days before flying back to Boston.  My Grand-nephew had a lot of “man time” with his Uncle, and we hope this has helped him deal a bit with his grief.

Perhaps a bit too much wine?

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone!

Familia Zuccardi Malbec Paraje Altamira Concreto 2021

This Argentinian Malbec is enjoyed by critics and consumers. I tend to veer away from them, unless they are very smooth. So I would be willing to at least taste this for the team. 😎. Several online distributors with prices starting at $31.92.

Winemaker Notes

#43 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2022

Red color with violet hues. It expresses a great herbal character with notes of red fruits. In the mouth is long and with a distinctive mineral texture. A wine of great structure and acidity.

Blend: 100% Malbec

JS95 James Suckling
Such a brooding nose with black pepper, violet and fresh blueberry and blackberry fruit. Spicy and tight on the palate, but super polished, racy and refined. Medium-to full-bodied red with beautiful tannin tension and expressive, floral notes in the finish. Exemplary and authentic! So delicious now. Why wait?
RP95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2021 Concreto Malbec has to be one of the finest vintages of this wine despite its youth and still shy personality. But there are tons of flowers, wild herbs and berries there waiting to emerge in an insinuating way, with austerity but unfurling layers and layers as the wine sits in the glass. It's incredibly fine-boned with chalky tannins that scream limestone, full of precision and purity. For Sebastián Zuccardi, they didn't do anything different, it's just the character of the year. This is the wine that explains their philosophy without breaking your piggy bank. Rating: 95+

WS92 Wine Spectator

A youthful, lively and expressive red, showing floral macerated cherry and plum flavors amid toasted herb and espresso bean details. Ends with minerally tannins, which are firm yet perky, and a note of baker's chocolate.

Good Sunday morning.   Thanks for starting us with the Daily each day Sandi! Your daughter's tree is lovely!   Yesterday as we had expected we got the letter about laundry service for passengers ending during our time in the Amazon.  We had fun watching horse racing and I cleaned up on the bets even though I recommended favorites for John to bet it didn't shake out that way. The broadcast from Saudi Arabia was strange because they do not bet so there were no odds available. I had to see the entries on a miniscule PDF of the Daily Racing Form.  I heard we didn't miss much in Fortaleza other than a fabulous church.   We had a wonderful cellar master dinner in Canaletto last night.  The food was excellent and the wines were interesting.

Today is Rijstaffel lunch in the MDR and it is dressy night.  I think we will have a rare dinner in the Lido.  Today the captain is giving a talk about navigating the Amazon in the Main Stage. It follows a Brazil expert lecture so we would love to go but I am sure the place will be packed. Too many masked people on board for our comfort

Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine.  We saw a heartbreaking long story on BBC this morning about the destruction of the country.  Last evening I got an email from Santa Richard that our friends had made it safely home after their long journey home from Santos.  The lady that passed out in the casino the night before was back at her machine last night.  Have a wonderful day! Nancy

Thanks for our Sunday Daily, Sandi.

Nice collection of days - I think I will do my best to seize the day in honour of Carpe Diem day.  We should all try to do that every day.  I like the romantic Jane Austen’s quote.

Sad day yesterday - anniversary of my mother’s death - and even sadder to hear that Gordon Pinsent has passed away on the same day.  He was a true renaissance man, a great actor and Canadian icon.  A Newfoundlander and proud of it - he paved the way for others from that province in their acting careers.  Interesting fact historically - he actually immigrated to Canada as Newfoundland was not yet part of Canada until 1949.  He will be truly missed. 😞

My excitement for the day will be a little grocery outing with my neighbour and cleaning up the mess in the kitchen from the planting.  I managed to have 3 messy accidents which, while we attended to need some more serious cleaning 😌 It had NOTHING to do with wine, sadly but still couldn’t resist…

A bit warmer today - of course that’s all in how you look at it and what you are used to.  I guess it could best be described as this.

Actually got out last night to visit friends I hadn’t seen since December. I had a slew of multi quotes that I planned to do when I returned and poof - they were all gone 😡

Prayers for those on the Care list and those that need them world wide and a toast 🥂 to those on the Celebratory list.

Happy Sunday and thank you Rich, Sandi, Ann, Dixie, Debbie, Graham, and all the rest of you who make the Fleet Report and Daily a special place.  I slept well last night but it looks like my use of a light jacket Friday was a one and done for the forseeable future.

Been to Safaga just once, on the Silver Whisper, for me a totally forgettable cruise and port.  It's the gateway to the Valley of the Kings and by the time Silversea sent me my documents the deadline for booking tours there had passed.  Safaga itself has nothing to offer,

A bit of a coincidence yesterday.  My first cruise was in 1993 on the Carnival Fantasy, a 3-day getaway with the only stop  at Nassau.  Across the Dock from us was the Cunard Crown Jewel.  It is now MS Gemeni, and I learned that it is now chartered in the Med but currently housing Turkish refugees.

Good Sunday morning.

Thank you to Sandi @StLouisCruisersfor getting us started today.

I like the Carnival Day and Carpe Diem.  Not a big fan of Pistachios.

Quote is interesting.

Like the wine but will pass on the drink and meal.

Have not been to Egypt.

Thank you to Vanessa @JazzyVfor the Cares and Celebration list.

My prayers for all that need them.

Cheers to those with something to celebrate.  And hope those that are cruising are enjoying their days at sea.

Thank you Graham @grapau27 for Father David’s sermon.  Always welcome.

Hope Sarah is doing okay.

I have not been around for the last two days so I have some catching up to do do.

I just read  @Azz’s account of the kitchen renovation.  Believe me, if anyone knows about delays, it is me.

On March 4, that is this coming Saturday, it will mark six (6) months since we had the flood in our home.  AND WE STILL DON’T HAVE A MASTER BATH.  And there is no telling when that is going to happen.  The contractor does not have a tiling sub available, so we have to wait.

To add to the mix, yesterday was a horror.  Our one and only toilet (brand new) decided to give us trouble,  Plunger, etc, would not do the job.  Tried to call a plumber on a Saturday.  NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE AND NO EMERGENCY NUMBERS.  This took up most of the day.  Finally, at 7 pm a neighbor, who works as a handyman came over (he had been out all day) and got the job done.  We were just about to go to a hotel.

I’m exhausted, and we just got back from a cruise.  I feel like I need another one.

So that is where I am at.  I will try to catch up and read all the posts today.

Take care everyone and God Bless.

Happy Sunday.

Terri

I do not understand why HAL does not show this type of presentation on the cabin TV or record it and show it on TV at a later time.  I have made this same comment on the App and on every post cruise survey.

Positive thoughts to all who need them.  Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.

Good morning, everyone!

If anyone does not want their pistachios, I will gladly take them.  We seized the day yesterday and went to visit an old family friend yesterday.  Her husband was our family dentist and he hired my sister as a hygienist when she graduated.  Sue still maintains that he was the best boss she ever had.  He passed away a while back and his son took over the practice.  Kevin is now retired and is our neighbor.  He said his mom was in assisted living and we decided to go visit her.  I guess she doesn't get that many visitors, so we'll keep going back.  We  had a wonderful time talking to her and she was so excited to know that we had come just to see her.

@Cruzin Terri Sorry to hear about continued bathroom woes.  When it rains, it pours and you seem to have a permanent thundercloud overhead.

@kazu So glad you got out to visit friends last night.  Social connections are so important, especially as we age.  That is one reason why this community was so important during the pandemic.

A special thank you for all who make this happen on a daily basis.  We never know how much we may touch another life for the better, but given the comments the last couple of days, I think we reach far more than we know.  Let's continue to spread the warmth, comfort, and support.

Today's meal sounds pretty interesting.  I will probably pass on it due to the carb load.  It would put me right to sleep!  Hmm, maybe that is the answer for the 3:00 am club!   Can't sleep, have some carbs.  The butternut squash is added to the cheese mixture and provides some additional nutrients as well as depth of flavor.  The differences in recipes are found in seasonings and type of cheese used.  This first recipe uses whole wheat pasta and three types of cheese.  It isn't too bad on the calories and just slightly over my carb limit.    https://www.skinnytaste.com/butternut-squash-mac-and-cheese/

This next one is heavy on the cheddar cheese and uses cream cheese in the recipe.  It is a bit higher in calories and carbs, but flavor can make that worth it.  https://cookieandkate.com/butternut-squash-mac-and-cheese/

This last recipe uses aged white cheddar cheese and tops the casserole with some whole wheat bread crumbs for a satisfying crunch.  https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/butternut-squash-mac-and-cheese/

Wishing you all a wonderful day!   Healing thoughts and hugs to those who need them and cheers to those who are celebrating!

@arzzI spelled your name wrong on my post.

I read your renovation story and I sympathize with your plight.  I can only imagine what you have been through.

We are still waiting for our master bath to be done.

During Covid we bought new appliances for our kitchen.  We did not do a complete renovation as you, but felt that after 20 years, we needed to upgrade.  We started in August when we placed our order.  The pieces came in separately starting in October.  We finally got our new refrigerator in December.  So, I do understand your frustration with the length of time to get things done.

Hope you are enjoying your new surroundings.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  It's the time of year when many schools host their winter carnivals on the weekend; I remember working at a number of them when our son was in elementary school.  Our first cruise was on Carnival's Jubilee in 1989.  We enjoy pistachios, but prefer to get them shelled.

After our blast of icy cold, it's starting to warm up again - we're currently sitting at -16C (3F), with an expected high of -6C (21F).  There isn't any snow in the next few days, but tomorrow we're supposed to have harsh winds that could make it feel about 20 degrees colder than it actually is.  I'm just glad our furnace is working again.

I haven't been to today's port, will give the drink a pass, but really enjoy drinking a malbec.  I'm sure I'd like today's offering.

@kazuI'm glad you finally were able to get out to visit some friends; it's so important to keep up those in person connections.

@Cruzin Terrigood grief, you seem to have nothing but bad luck on your agenda!

A quiet morning, but this afternoon we have to go to the annual general meeting of DH's historical group.  Included in his report for the past year will be the lovely comments from a number of my Daily friends on the video he produced.  The site continues to get many visits weekly, with lots of comments by email about the video.  After the meeting, the executive (and spouses) will head off to a restaurant for dinner, so I won't be making today's menu suggestion.  Not sure what will be set before me tonight, but I'm sure it will be delicious.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them, especially those suffering from man made and natural disasters.  Hearty cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!☺️☺️☺️

Good Sunday morning.  Well this morning didn't lturn out as expected.  I was changing the sheets and thought I would wash the mattress cover too.  Well, when I picked it up the plastic undercoating had totally fallen apart.  Small pieces went everywhere.  Just spent an hour sweeping it all lup.

Juan Collins cocktail:

1.5 oz of Tequila
1 oz of Lemon Juice
1 oz of agave nectar
club soda
lime wedge

Pour tequila, lime juice and nectar into a collins glass with ice cubes. Stir thoroughly. Top with club soda and garnish with lime wedge.

Good Morning from a warm and sunny day at the beach

I will pass my pistachios on to Debbie @dfish. I am a huge Jane Austin fan, and recognized the quote right away, as it was  what Darcy said to Elizabeth in his first proposal.

Have not been to todays port.

The news around here is that Port Canaveral has surpassed Miami for number of cruisers. The interesting thing is the port and space center are having some scheduling difficulties because of the increased activity at both locations.  The space center has priority.

Some of those ships are just too big! ( for me anyway)

Played golf yesterday with my son and nephew. Our tournament is coming up on the 10th. Should be a lot of fun. It is full this year, first time since pre covid. My nephew is one of the organizers and he told me to be prepared, dont know what that means! LOL

A big thank you to all who keep this thread going everyday. It is certainly a place of caring and friendship and have even learned new things!

 Stay safe and enjoy today

      Charlene
