shari1737 Posted February 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2023 It has been over 7 years since I have cruised. I am going the Celebration in April and want to know if you use a lanyard for your sail & sign card. My husband has never cruised and I don't know if he will be keen on wearing one. If you don't use a lanyard, how do you keep up with your sail & sign card? And if you do wear one, where did you get it? Thanks!
hapytobehr Posted February 27, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I never wear a lanyard but many people do. You can purchase them on the ship or order on Amazon. I just keep mine in my purse or in my beach bag if we are at the pool. You will love the Celebration! Have a great cruise!
bar1068 Posted February 27, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2023 We always use lanyards, have since our first cruise over 15 years ago, we don't think anything of it. Will be using them on the Celebration in May.
groundloop Posted February 27, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2023 Yep, we both use one for the convenience. You can get them at the Pixels desk once you get on board.
SeaScout Posted February 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I'm an old guy. I bring a lanyard with me on the cruise. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't. It's nice to have available if I choose to use it at any particular time. I also bring a small leather wallet thing that can hold my sign and sail card, and I stick that in my pocket.
CruiserLucas Posted February 27, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 27, 2023 We didn't use lanyards for our first couple of cruises, but we do now. Love them. I prefer the kind that has the clip before the card - see example picture. That way you don't risk damaging the card extensively by removing it off its attach point or fiddling with removing it from the plastic protector if it has one.
MacMarauder Posted February 27, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I vote no to lanyards. I'm a guy and all my pants have pockets, including board shorts for the pool. My kids are small so I carry their cards, and if my wife doesn't have pockets in her dress I'll carry hers as well. Carrying a max of four cards in my pocket is easier than wearing something around my neck IMO.
n6uqqq Posted February 27, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2023 Thanks but no thanks for me. I am on a cruise not at a convention! 3 1
ShakyBeef Posted February 27, 2023 #9 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I'll never wear a lanyard. I find them unattractive and the sensation of one hanging around my neck unpleasant. During the day, I carry my S&S card as well as cash, lip balm, alcohol hand wipes, tissues, etc, in a wristlet. In the evenings, I switch to an evening bag.

RenoNanaOz Posted February 27, 2023 #12 Share Posted February 27, 2023 DH wears a Lanyard during the day then puts it in his money clip in his pocket at night. I use the beaded bracelet, I much prefer that.
nwcruiselover Posted February 27, 2023 #13 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I always use a lanyard. I find it the most convenient way to have handy access to my S&S card.
pe4all Posted February 27, 2023 #14 Share Posted February 27, 2023 Have never used a lanyard on any cruise. I carry a very very small over the shoulder pouch. Keep my dd's meds, chapstick, our sail and sign cards, Tylenol and Advil in it. If in port I add a credit card, driver's license, cash and cell phone. Don't think I would like the sensation of the lanyard whipping in the wind around my neck while on deck, as I have seen happen to others.
childfreecrusing Posted February 27, 2023 #15 Share Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) Just left the Celebration. I like using the lanyards. I tend to lose my card at the bottom of my bag or my wallet migrates etc. It’s so much easier when coming back to the room with full hands or giving to the bartender during a rush. Got it on amazon. Edited February 27, 2023 by childfreecrusing Forgot to add where I got my lanyard 😅 1

audcc77 Posted February 27, 2023 #17 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I’ve used the same plastic slinky cord they used to hand out free at the casino. It looks cheap but it’s so light that I barely notice it. I started using a lanyard when I began leaving my card in the slots in the casino. 😂 2
Rare Essiesmom Posted February 27, 2023 #18 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I never use a lanyard for my card. Everything I wear has pockets except some elegant night wear/dress. Then it goes in my bag. I do have a lanyard that I use on other occasions, mostly for my phone when I am running around the ship taking pictures. I also wear it when I have a long grocery list and don’t want to set my phone down in the grocery cart or dig it out of my pocket.
Rare EngIceDave Posted February 27, 2023 #19 Share Posted February 27, 2023 As a degenerate gambler, I am used to having to carry a players card in my pocket, same thing. Wife uses lanyard 1

mz-s Posted February 28, 2023 #21 Share Posted February 28, 2023 I always use a lanyard. I don't carry a billfold on a cruise, and the shorts I usually wear don't have very deep pockets anyway so things are prone to falling out. Easy to find in the room on the way out, too. So I always carry my card on a lanyard.
Rare SRQbeachgirl Posted February 28, 2023 #22 Share Posted February 28, 2023 If I'm carrying my phone around I use a phone case with a cross-body strap and a credit card case stuck to the back of the cell phone case. If not, I use a scrunchie-type wristlet that has a clasp (if the card has a hole punched in it).
Guest BasicSailor Posted February 28, 2023 #23 Share Posted February 28, 2023 Reaching the top (Almighty tier) of Diamond you would think I should be proud to wear a lanyard. Naa, I just shove it into the pocket.🤐

mmtska Posted February 28, 2023 #25 Share Posted February 28, 2023 I HATE things around my neck so I don't wear a lanyard. I make it a point for pockets in everything I have. Dresses? I have to have pockets. Swimsuit? Yup. I have board shorts with pockets.
