Baptpastor Posted April 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2023 We've cruised Carnival for decades, in all types of cabins including suites. Our all time favorite is the cove balcony. We are so close to the water that we can see fish other sea creatures. We've even been able to see coral sometimes. Also, the sound of the waves gently washing up against the ship just below our balcony can be very soothing and relaxing. Cove balconies are one of Carnival's best kept secrets. Because they are low and along the middle of the ship, there is less rocking and that can help people who may suffer from seasickness.

CarnivalShips480 Posted April 13, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2023 I love the cove balconies too. Had one on Celebration. Like you said in the title @Baptpastor, amazing!

gopackgo21 Posted April 13, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2023 We always book a cove! We usually get Free Suites or a Free Balcony through the casino and there have been plenty of times that we picked the cove over certain suites or “premium” balconies. We love them for the same reasons as you listed, but I also love the privacy!
Universe93B Posted April 13, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2023 Thanks for the quick review - I always wondered about the cove balconies. Your description sounds cool! But what about the view when coming into port, or looking further out into the ocean? I carry my binoculars, but was wondering about that since the balcony is so low. Cruising_Addict Posted April 13, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2023 I absolutely LOVE coves and always book them on the ships that have them. I love them for the same reason as you: I love being that close to the water. So close that you can hear the waves and see the flying fish in the morning. ZoeyVictoria Posted April 13, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2023 I have a cove balcony booked for the first time on the Celebration in October. Yesterday I received an “upgrade offer” (really an upsell) to move to a balcony on a higher deck for $66 or an aft balcony for $236. I am keeping the cove and can’t wait to see what it is like.
sc4125 Posted April 13, 2023 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2023 I love cove balconies - however, make sure you are not under the kitchen. First time in one I didn't do enough research. It sounded like people were bowling all night. Being under the dining room works out really well - but do your research.

We had a Cove Balcony on Celebration couple weeks ago, loved it, perfect location to “get to know decks 6,7,8” where there is lots of activity. On Celebration again in January and Coves gone but chose deck 5 OV as we liked the location so much. Enjoy your cruise, ship is beautiful, food offerings great. crazy4themouse Posted April 13, 2023 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2023 Coves really are amazing! On the Dream class ships we like to get one of the ones where there's no lifeboat overhead. It still feels cozy, but you have such a beautiful view of the sky and stars at night. And don't forget one of the best perks of having a cove -- front and center for the pier runner show if you're on the right side of the ship! 😁 2
Rare sparks1093 Posted April 13, 2023 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2023 I keep trying to convince DW to try one but for some reason she doesn't like being that close to the water. 😞

We’ve been on MG twice, so we immediately knew proximity to the decks where the action is was going to be an asset. We were in the very aft on deck 14 once (sounded like the Bolt ran through our closet, even felt the vibrations) and very forward on an upper deck (close walk to absolutely nothing). I think we may have hit it right with the cove.
cruiseguy56 Posted April 13, 2023 #15 Share Posted April 13, 2023 (edited) We have a cove booked for August on the Horizon. DW is really excited about being close enough to the water to se things like the flying fish we often see on cruises, but have always been 8 decks up so to her they looked like little blurs. My only concern is the potential for rough weather as, since booking, I've found out that in rough waters the crew will come in and shut a metal door so you can't go ut on the balcony. I don't mind but DW has claustrophobia (why we ALWAYS get a balcony room!). Edited April 13, 2023 by cruiseguy56

Also, when I look at “My To Do List” in the planner, the offer appears between “pay balance” and “online check-in”. I have a cruise in three days that I would have loved to upgrade, but no offer. I think I received it for the Celebration because I have a desirable cabin (cove balcony) that they could easily sell at a price more than I paid ($400+).

Top_of_the_Cube Posted April 13, 2023 #21 Share Posted April 13, 2023 I think cove balconies are dark and cramped and noisy and smelly. Way overpriced and the the view is completely overrated. I would rather book accommodations in the sewage reclamation area below deck. (if you guys keep heaping on accolades, it may affect their availability when booking my next cruise.) 4

So glad to hear this - we booked a balcony guarantee, knowing we'd likely get a cove balcony (and we did - under the dining room) but when I watched YouTube videos about them, I started to get anxious. We will be on the Dream and it looks kind of claustrophobic with the lifeboats above the cove balconies. I'm kind of nervous, but determined to try it because so many people here rave about them. TequilaJane Posted April 14, 2023 #23 Share Posted April 14, 2023 Cove balconies are normally below very busy areas. How bad is the noise from above.

Rare vadersprincess12 Posted April 15, 2023 #25 Share Posted April 15, 2023 So glad to hear this. We have our first Cove balcony booked later this year. Several years ago on a cruise with my BFF we saw a sea turtle from deck 8 so I can imagine what it would look like from deck 2. So excited!!!!!
