Today I celebrate a milestone birthday. I turned 60 today. Not sure how I feel about it. I guess I have to get used to this number. Oh well.

Wait until you hit the next milestone - that one is depressing - but it’s better than the alternative 😉. Seriously, a very happy birthday to you.

I took a Tessalon perle last night to help with the cough, and another this morning. I still have some congestion, so I'll see how that does today.

I hope the Tessalon works for you 🤞

I'll do some sorting of things, still trying to get rid of stuff I don't need. The plaque placing for BFF's Dad was nice, but he discovered last night that his DF's birth year was wrong!

That sorting is never ending, believe me.  Oh my on the plaque for your BFF’s Dad’s plaque.  That’s upsetting.  I hope it can be fixed 🤞

I am not making much progress on the house sorting - for some reason I prefer researching cruise destinations.

I can’t blame you for that, Susan.  Researching and planning is much more fun than sorting.

I am sure I will come out of this "prefer to be a hermit" stage shortly but right now I like puttering along at my own pace. @kazuI have the same problem of lawn treatments that you do.... fortunately there a couple places were I know they don't treat. We even have to avoid our own lawn since the other condo owners insist on treatment. And my two are really close to the ground.

I completely understand the hermit stage.  I’ve been there a number of times myself as of late.

I admit that I do treat my lawn, Susan.  I have to with cinch bug and grubs but I use a different company.  Their stuff isn’t as deadly although the dogs have to be off for 24 hours.  But they CALL me to arrange for a suitable time for me and the dogs.  And sometimes we skip the back yard.  And I make arrangements with my neighbours to scoot over and use their lawn if need be.

I am waiting to walk poor Ivan (who is having a ball playing fetch while I try to type) to make sure it is all totally dry after our rain so he can sniff to his heart’s content.  He doesn’t know we’ve missed one - LOL.  He’s easy to keep happy if you play fetch with his toys.

Yippee Pennie 👏 👏 👏. How wonderful.  I don’t blame you for being excited.  Enjoy the ocean view 🙂

Hired a friend of my DS to break the concrete out with a pick.  Final piece next to house, the lad missed and smashed through my siding.  Another job to the list

OH NO!  Any spare pieces of siding in your basement?  It never rains but it pours 😞. Hope you can get things fixed easily 🤞

@catmando a very happy Monday birthday to you 🙂

Well I waited until the mail carrier drove by (no mail) and we took the mailbox off the post in just minutes.  I wiped it down again with a damp cloth.  Then I put on my gloves and opened a sealed packet of Rust-oleum Recolor wipes and began wiping it on.  After a few minutes, I went out to the post and did that, the newspaper box and the scrollwork.  Then I went onto the front porch and wiped down the black metal bistro table and two chairs.  That about took care of one wipe.  What a deal!  I'll show you how bad the mailbox looked and how much better afterward.  This is the product I use.  I only buy the package if it says it has 6 individually sealed wipes, not the old method that had a 2 oz. bottle of fluid to replenish your wipe with.

Rain is expected tomorrow so I will leave it inside until Monday morning.  The post I can cover with plastic and tape closed.  I don't want the finish marred until it has 24 hours to set.  Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser it's too bad you couldn't remove the shutters and keep them under cover a few days.  That makes it a much bigger job though!

Jack @Heartgrove great news on Sue's test results.  A big relief I'm sure.

Good morning or in my case afternoon. We left Seville at 1:00 PM. Enjoyed sunning and soaking in the Spa Sanctum this morning. The Weber charcoal grills were going strong for lunch with various sausages, thin steaks but I had the Azamara hamburger. About an inch thick and so large I had to eat with fork and knife.

Beautiful day to cruise down the river. Amazed we went through small drawbridge and we have just gone through the lock.
We just finished a wine tasting so the big decision is to sit on balcony and enjoy the river or siesta.

I believe a short siesta may win.

Band for sail away recently finished but had the pool deck rocking with some good Jimmy Buffet Classics and Rock and Roll. Now it’s just the gentle sound of the ship slowly gliding through the water.

Our Spanish musical group last night was enjoyable entertainment.

We arrive Lisbon, Portugal tomorrow afternoon and will go on a long tour to Fatima.

Thanks for the reports So Blessed to be able to have such wonderful experiences.

Bruce

Good morning all. Life is busy here but I never seem to have time to do more then read the Daily. I went kayaking midweek as well as Monday. It was a daytime kayak and as the weather is now getting into the 90's the sun was brutal. Allegator spotting is happening more and more. While I was out kayaking I was asked how I like Mobile since I am approaching my one year anniversary here. I said I love it and they replied that there is always to many locals who claim there is nothing to do. My problem is choosing from all the choices, what to do that doesn't make this old lady wear out. I went to the Art Walk last night and it was hot and wonderful. The streets are packed and there was a parade and the vendors always have so much to show. Just know that while I may be slow to post, I am reading and grateful to all the information and family here. I just need to read faster so I have time to post more.

I'm very happy to hear you enjoy Mobile so much.  It was a great move for you, especially with family there.  Stay busy, it will keep you young!

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I use ball point pens all the time. Herbs and spices certainly help to flavor our food. I often drink iced tea when dining out. Great quote. Not a big lo mein fan. Pass on the drink and yes to the wine if someone buys it for me.

I haven't been to Lembar, Lombok.

It will be a nice day here today, sunny and not too hot. Rain tomorrow (yay!) after 21 days without! The air quality is improving, but I'll still stay inside today. I took a Tessalon perle last night to help with the cough, and another this morning. I still have some congestion, so I'll see how that does today. I'll do some sorting of things, still trying to get rid of stuff I don't need. The plaque placing for BFF's Dad was nice, but he discovered last night that his DF's birth year was wrong! So he'll try to get that corrected. We had a nice lunch after with a few friends.

@dfish Great photos from the lake house.

@Heartgrove Good news on Sue's echocardiogram.

@marshhawk Sorry you had a rough night last night.

@kazu Sorry to hear it is smoky where you are, and the difficulty walking Ivan.

@aliaschief Looks like a great time!

@Denise T HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎂

@cat shepard Annie's DH is Chuck.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Be well everyone.

I hope you're feeling somewhat better this afternoon.  What a shame the plaque has the wrong year on it, but I bet it can be worked out.  Still it was very nice of them to do that.

Good afternoon.  I've come to the conclusion that some of the people also working on my grandmother's maternal ancestors either don't pay attention to the evidence, want to have someone famous as an ancestor whether or not they are, or are just plain idiots.  As with a lot of families, there are cousins marrying cousins, and a lot of misinformation about people who lived in the 1400s through the 1600s, if not later.  I just spent several hours untangling two lines where their grandchildren or great grand children married.  Somehow, a couple of them had different ancestors in the same general line.  I may not be 100 percent correct, but this is the way it will stay using the best evidence I could find.  BTW, it's the line that insists we are directly descended from George Washington.  The line split when two brothers married into that family and their sons were cousins not half brothers.  I can't help thinking if it can be this hard in some cases with the internet, how difficult it must have been when a lot of this family trees were first researched.  I think I'm going to rest my brain for the rest of the day.

It has been raining (more like a drizzle) here since yesterday, but we really need it.  Someone told me today that we're heading into a drought.

I use ball point pens and herbs and spices every day.  Ice tea I can take or leave, not one of my favorite drinks.  I'm chuckling because just this morning one of our GA relatives complained on FB that he overheard someone ordering an UNsweet tea with NO ice. 😉  They seem to make a huge deal over it -- and of course his friends said it had to be a Yankee...no thought that some of us are diabetic and can't have sweet drinks (no excuse about the lack of ice though LOL).

At least, here we can order sweet tea or unsweetened.  Not long ago, I was accidently served sweet tea, and boy was it sweet.

Good morning, Dailyites!  Happy birthday, @Denise T and to @catmando on Monday, you are both youngsters compared with me !   Good news for your DW, @Heartgrove, and Bon Voyage, @Nickelpenny, great that they upgraded you.

I do like lo mein, it has soft noodles.  Noodles are good!  But tonight we are going to have pork chops and applesauce and left-over pizza for lunch. Here it has been raining steadily since very early in the morning, what a relief, at least the grey skies are from that and not from the smoke like yesterday.  I just hope the rain extends all the way to the west side of the island and is helping to extinguish the fires.  Nice to hear it is raining on the mainland too.

Ann, I'm happy you are getting much needed rain, and I hope they are also getting rain up island.

Sandi, that is what I use.  The last time I used it, it was with the 2 ounce bottle.  When I checked the bottle this year, it was a solid block.  The shutters can come off, but the things that hold them to the siding tend to break easily, and I don't want to chance it.  Some of the shutters are easy to reach, it's the ones that I need a ladder to treat that are the problem.  Usually, DH will hold the ladder, but right not that's still not possible.  I'll figure out something that will work.  At least, the shutters are solid, not louvered.  Your mail box looks great.

Good afternoon,

What a workout with the three kids. My house is a wreck. They are coming back tomorrow so I told my DIL to leave the fort up and we will take it down tomorrow. The new neighbor girl is real sweet and they all played together well. I am meeting friends for pizza and then listening to an 80’s girl cover band. I hope I can stay awake until the band starts playing!

@Quartzsite Cruiser I’ve learned to take ancestry with a pound of salt! Argh!

I know, and in this case, I think I needed about 10 pounds.  🤣  I've learned to trust some of the other genealogy sites, especially if they differ from the ones Ancestry members have.  I also check any photos on Google since someone used George Washington's picture for an ancestor who lived in the 1500s.  In other words, trust but verify.

It's the same here, Lenda.  However you want it -- and nobody laughs however you choose it!

I admire your patience in looking up your ancestry.  I lose patience and go a little nuts after a few hours.  I have seen some "famous characters" supposedly in my lineage, but they weren't as well known as George Washington, most were European and way back...

@grapau27Yummy, thanks for the food porn, what is in the white chocolate ball?  Actually you had me at steak.

Tonights dinner is Smoked sausage, beans and sauerkraut, and tomorrow I will get the pastrami or corned beef and make Rueben's  for lunch and and use more of that sauerkraut  Will make quiche for dinner,  to have for a quick breakfast on Monday.  I shut down my coffee intake at lunch time today, I'm dragging now, but hopefully wont be up all night.  Chuck wants to go to the Louisiana Bistro for dinner on Monday for the big day.  They make a fabulous crayfish ravioli.  In creamy garlic sauce.  with fresh french bread for dipping......Ok, I had it for my birthday.

@aliaschiefI'm loving your cruise.

@NickelpennyGood for you on the upgrade.

I love unsweet ice tea, lots of ice.  Because of the damage done to DH when he had the radiation, he loves coke and tea, but doesnt want ice.  Room temp is fine with him.

When we lived in France back in the early 60's my father always ordered iced coffee.  The waiters told him that coffee combined with ice would kill him.  He explained, that he lived on the wild side of life.  They would bring him coffee, a glass of ice, and i guess pray that he wouldn't keel over there and then.

He would let the coffee cool a bit, and then poor it over ice, and voila, iced coffee, and he survived!

@kazuI love that you and Ivan make such a good team.

and one last question, as I seem to miss a lot-where is the picture of @dfish's lake house?  By the way I hope you are all having a great weekend!

I did find one verifiable ancestor, King James IV of Scotland.  My side are descendants of his illegitimate son however.

A very Happy Birthday to @Denise T!

@Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, I have a cousin who has had great success researching our Grandparents roots. No famous folk though. She uses the Morman records, not sure how.

Terry, I've looked at the Mormon records a little.  I might try them some time.  It's interesting see who's in the family tree, but I'm not into serious reseach like one of our neighbors.  Right now, I'm just trying to find out as much as possible before the six month membership expires early in July.  Then, I'll wait until there is another membership sail.

@Denise T, I could have stopped by and wished you a Happy Birthday in person, was down to the outlets and the garden center at Sanatoga this morning.🎂🎉🍾

Looks like we need to wish @grapau27Bon Voyage. Definitely looks like cruise food.

I've used it some too.  I found it to be much more complete (for my family anyway) than Ancestry.  That said, I'm not very good at it and months go by when I'm not looking at it. For some reason I'm always doing cruise research instead! 🤣
