Yes, that is the claim, and it's supported.

They DO live onboard!

You admittedly only occasionally cruise Carnival.

This is how your attack on the OP's post went. You did everything you could to discount their claim that carnival had dogs physically on ships searching for drugs. Then you went on to say that they may be on the ship, but surely they don't live on board. Finally, when shown that they do indeed live on board, you narrow in on the fact that only one ship was provided as evidence and the OP stated "ships".

First, why the need to pick apart the OP's claim? Second, why double down and dig in to defend your position, just to prove your point. It's sounds like you're currently on a cruise. Let it go and go enjoy yourself. Do you have to be shown that it is definitely more than one ship? OP never exaggerated and said it was implemented fleet wide.

I appreciate you read my post as it was intended 👍🏻

I also thank you for seeing the validity in my post and understanding the grammar and context. Sometimes my real ENGLISH is not understood by a small handful.

There is always one, and they certainly picked apart my post, but I chose no longer to engage with them

They even tried to say they were agreeing with me and I was silly

But hey

We have only been on 42 cruises, 7 this year, what would we know about issues on cruise ships, never had anything ever happen to us before

Thankyou again  @Hutcha- a voice of reason 😎

A little off topic, but our daughter just accepted a position with one of the nation's largest weed companies. Sr. Project Manager in Product Development. Apparently as part of her orientation she'll be touring their farms outside of Nashville, so maybe I should have her ask them about that? 😆

Suggest a more popular fragrance like Chanel #5 ?

Everything you said is correct. I was initially dubious of the claim. The OP.showed it to me, and I researched it. He was right. At that point, the ONLY disagreement was the degree to which it is done. OP implied it was commonplace...it isn't...it's one ship.

It is not at all.my intent to attack the OP. Yes, it was my intention to make fun of the caps and emojis in the original post...but I also said repeatedly that I agreed with his position (the weed part).

If someone shows it's more than one ship on carnival I'll happily say I'm wrong and the OP was right. But if it is only one ship then I'd like the same people (not the OP) to agree that one ship isn't the same as fleet wide.

Sorry this is happening to you OP.

1) Years ago I personally saw a sniffer dog at night onboard a Royal Caribbean ship patrolling the corridors seeking out drug users so yes they do live onboard , the cruise was in the Caribbean.  I even saw their toilet box too , aft of the outside promenade deck.

2) I have never smoked and the sweet ,sickly smell of Cannabis makes me feel sick . My neighbour's EX Son in Law was a dope head. Whenever he smoked in the back garden I had to shut all my  windows . Then one day the smell was something not of this world , absolutely disgusting.  My  neighbour on the other side could smell it and said it was Skunk . OMG not a smell I want to smell ever again 😫 so OP I feel for you having that permeate your cabin. Hope the culprits get found , off loaded and barred for life cruising MSC.

To note, smoking of weed is NOT allowed ANYWHERE on the ship.  To many (me! me!) it's gross.  You wan't to F* yourself up without messing up the air that other people have to breathe, then go for it.  Shove that $..t up your nose, swallow a gummy, whatever,  but the minute you put your weed smoke in the air it's now my problem.  I'm expected to inhale that air so that you can get an (illegal at sea and violation of MSC rules) buzz on. Gee thanks.

In addition, smoking (cigarettes or doobies) in a cabin in a violation of the no open flame rule as well as jacking up the cabin for the next person.

I have found it to be a BIG issue in the YC and agree that nothing is being done about it.

This right here! If there was smoke, there was an open flame. What idiot would smoke anything in their cabin? A few years ago we were on a RC ship and while standing out on our balcony I smelled cigeratte smoke. Just as I was processing what I was smelling, I saw a butt get flicked off a balcony and do a U-turn mid air and land on a balcony below us. I reported it right away.

And while we're on the subject of smoking, I just read that Celebrity will be allowing vaping in their casinos.

This thread is funny.

When was the last time a cruise ship ever caught fire from smoking?

There was one instance on a ship (Forget which one) they thought was from a cigarette, but was never proven. I'm not saying there is no risk, but all the people concerned about a fire starting from smoking anything, is just paranoia. IMO

With more and more U.S. states legalizing weed, i think you will be smelling it more and more, even though its illegal. I dont condone it, just a fact of todays new world.

Since you asked....

My funny story about weed was I thought I ran over skunk because when I pulled in my garage, it smelled like one.  But then it was there every day but not when I parked my car at work...I realized it was my nieghbour's kid, since our garage are attached.

Again, NEVER proven.

The article states "Apparently". Also, that was in 2006. That was an eternity ago. Safety standards have much improved since then. 👍

This has been discussed many many times on these boards.

And I suppose we will hear more and more stories of people getting sentenced to life in prison or other extreme punishments in foreign countries. Cruise ships stop in countries that have VERY VERY harsh penalties for drug possession. If cruise passengers want to take that risk, I suppose it's on them. I just hope none of my port stops are canceled or delayed due to other passengers getting arrested.

I was on the cruise immediately after the chartered Rock Jammin cruise in feb on the Divina. Rock Jamming is the latest kind of Grateful Dead smoke dope and get high music. The rumors and claims of how many people got arrested was from a few dozen to hundreds. The ship was trashed. We didn't get to see the Super Bowl because the audio and video systems were trashed. They even managed to break tiles in the swimming pools and pulled bolted things off the walls like pictures and letters saying aqua swimming pool. They broke so many swimming pool sun chairs if you weren't warned before hand to check it your bottom went through it on the first one. And the food in the halls by the cabins. They were still cleaning the halls after and picking up food off the floors[not on a plate] after sail time and a public bathroom or two were pretty nasty. Maybe i'm over reacting but i think it was lucky a food bug or covid didn't hit us.

There must have been a build up of events and MSC should have been able to say "this stuff stops now" long before the cruise ended.

I smoke cigarettes in a designated smoking area.  I have stopped and started smoking often enough to acknowledge that smoking stinks.  I respect my fellow passengers enough to only smoke in designated areas.  It is then up to them, they can keep out of those areas, or they can keep their opinions to themselves when they walk through "our" area.

I have smoked cannabis on and off.  I smoked cannabis because I liked the effect, the feeling of being smashed - and not quite "there" .

If a person in an adjoining cabin is doing this and perhaps taking the risk of falling asleep whilst holding a joint I think a person has every right to be very upset and concerned.

If this is the case and they have been caught I think they should be kicked off the ship.    I don't care about whether something is legal or illegal on land.    What they do in their own homes is up to them.

But when they are putting people at risk in a confined space that's a different story.

I only meant that since it's illegal here I can't know what it smells like!

Its illegal in the UK, but I certainly know what weed smells like and not because I have partaken myself.
