The knitting/stitching group in the Art Studio was a good group but whoa, uncomfortable chairs and a table in front of me. I need a sofa with a window behind me. We will have to see if I can continue there or move to a better spot. I would miss the company of others though.

We also had nice conversations  at the 3, 4, and 5 star Mariner reception. I’m resting and reading until lunch. Last night I slept well. We will probably eat lunch at the Lido. That’s all for now. 👋

Happy Mother's Day!

It's another pretty mornin with blue skies and sunshine. I've walked over to feed the neighbor dog and let her out for the day.

I had a nice afternoon yesterday with my DS and DDIL and friends and family. I was at their friend's house and we celebrated his Mom's birthday. It came out in conversation that her birthday was May 8th - same as DD DH! She turned 68. There was lots of good food, nice conversation and it was very enjoyable to sit on a lounge chair and enjoy the sun.

Today is a stay-at-home day. Lots of texts keeping my phone busy. DS will be over later to do the "son-do" jobs - mowing the lawn, filling hummingbird feeders and a few other tasks. I'll enjoy the time with him.

To all who celebrate today have a wonderful day and allow yourself to be spoiled! 3 weeks today I board the Majestic Princess and I'm looking forward to a solo cruise and getting away to see Alaska - again!

Just arrived home last night,  and after an hour the smoke descended.  Sigh, it’s so early!

Himeji is a lovely small sized city with a beautiful castle,  highly recommend a visit!   A photo of our interesting breakfast there and a ramen house for dinner.  It is also very close to one of the top gardens in Japan.

Korakuen, the  nearby gardens to Himeji,  are just a short train ride away, one  of the top three in Japan

Yesterday afternoon the road near one of our local beaches was cordoned off by Police and coastguard so we took a detour to get to our usual place about a mile north.

We heard a loud bang and I have just heard on the local news it was an unexploded bomb which was detonated underwater by our army bombsquad.

Yikes!

Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day to our USA moms.
I have not been to Japan, will celebrate the days and appreciate Mrs Roosevelts’  wisdom.

We are planning a nice dinner later with both vegetarian and chicken enchiladas. We will use the kids table again which almost ends up in the living room. It has been great to have more help.

Have a wonderful day today

This is one of my favorite pictures with my mom and Mormor the day my son was christened.

 👋

You might try the Library - you should be able to turn the chair around so your back is to the window, or angle it if you want a bit of a view. May not be much conversation happening, but you would likely have company.

I spent a lot of time in the Library on my last cruise and thought how nice it would have been to have a project to work on.

Good morning, Dailyites, and Happy Mother's Day!  Thanks for all the news.   DD is treating us to pizza tonight, last night DS brought over food from a new vegan restaurant.  I didn't get much sleep after..  He airdropped me a picture of Oskar at the aurora "show", but refused to take all my spare pots.  I have to figure out what to do with them.

My father's favourite limerick:

There was a young lady from Niger

Who smiled as she rode on a tiger

They came back from the ride

With the lady inside

And the smile on the face of the tiger.

We seem to be having a heat wave, and prognostications are for a very bad summer, fire-wise.  There are already some towns being evacuated because of fires, and more often than not, they say the fires are man-made.  Still waiting for my beans to sprout.  I didn't go to church today, Pat has gone, but I am still stiff and sore from gardening, going slow this morning.  The plan is to go to Butchart's tomorrow with DD.  She leaves on Tuesday.

Oskar at the show...  (he wears a lighted collar at night, as he is such a dark brown).

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms and those who function as Moms even if unrelated. And Happy Mother's Day to the Moms in heaven. I'll salute nurses. I try to keep my plants healthy. Limericks can be fun. Good quote. Yes to the meal, maybe on the drink and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Himeji.

It's cloudy and cool here today. We had storms last night, and tornado warnings. There were a couple of tornadoes that touched down, but not near me thankfully. I managed to get 2 loads of laundry done yesterday. I stayed downstairs for the first load, to decrease trips up and down the stairs. I did ok, except my left knee isn't happy (it's the problem one that Ortho says I need a knee replacement, but had been ok before I was able to move more). BFF is cranky, as the wrap on his leg keeps undoing itself at the bottom. His next door neighbor is trying to fix it up. I'll look at it tomorrow, and I have a big sock that might fit over the splint. We go to the perioperative clinic tomorrow, for surgical clearance.

A favorite photo of mine, for Mother's Day

@1ANGELCAT More hugs for you today.

@dfish Lovely photo.

@StLouisCruisers I'm glad you weathered the storm. Congrats to Ren and his team on the win. Enjoy your day onboard.

@marshhawk It sounds like they need to get their act together about DH's surgery. I'd think no laser, no surgery yet.

@smitty34877 I'm glad you have the help and can get more rest. Nice photo of 4 generations.

@Cruzin Terri I'm glad you're feeling somewhat better.

@ottahand7 Congrats on the success of Day 1 of the plant sale.

@Haljo1935 Happy Birthday to your brother, the older! Very nice photo of your DM.

@superoma I hope your DH is ok.

@Nickelpenny Good going on the pre-op prep. I did the same before mine. Prayers for a successful outcome.

@aliaschief Thanks for the photos. Sad to hear about the crime issues in S. Africa.

@Sharon in AZ Welcome back. Nice photos. I'm glad to hear that your DM is feeling much better. I hope, with time, that her energy comes back.

@GTVCRUISER What a nice sentiment and photo.

@grapau27 Yikes on the unexploded bomb!

@luvteaching That sounds like a lovely afternoon yesterday.

@bennybear Great family photo. Thanks for the ones from Himeji and nearby beautiful gardens.

@Vict0riann Cute limerick. Thanks for the photo of the aurora and Oskar.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers to those Celebrating.

Good afternoon, from a very wet central Texas.  So far we've received 1/3 inch of rain, and it not stopping anytime soon.  There is a 9mph wind, too.

I enjoyed all the pictures of the Arora Borealis.  Last night, I thought there might be a slight chance since there was clear sky to the northeast about 7:30, but when I went out between 10:30 and 11 last night, it was cloudy.  I could see a few faint stars in small areas between the clouds, but there was no sign of the light show.  We might be too far south.  However, the past two nights, I've seen lightning bugs, especially back near the row of cedar trees.

I am enjoying seeing all the pictures of your mothers, and grandmothers.

In honor of Mother's Day, this is my mother and me at what was probably my second Easter.  Sadly, she died too young at 62 and that was 50 years ago.

First of all. Happy Mother’s Day! Whew! What a week, lot’s of bus riding and early arises. Got up at 2:45 AM today to get out to Cape Town airport to fly to Johannesburg then a flight to Namibia, That was a shock when we landed and saw nothing but sand and dunes.

I’ll post a few pictures of yesterday’s cable car up to Table Rock in Cape Town. South Africa has some beautiful terrain but with a 38% unemployment rate there are some very sad sights, crime and drug addiction problems. Last night we stayed in a beautiful hotel and went to an Italian pizza place 500 feet from hotel and asked front desk for directions. Do not let your party of four go without escort from our hotel employees which they did.

Will get to Safari pictures tomorrow. Off to a much needed drink, early dinner and bed. Again Happy Mother’s Day to all our Mom’s past and present. Bruce

PS: The cable car’s floor rotates as you ascend and descend.

Bruce, thanks for the pictures from Cape Town and Namibia.  I was not surprised to see all the sand since Namibia is home to the world's tallest sand dunes.  I hope you see a lot of animals.

Good morning and Happy Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day also!

I got back from Waco a few days ago. I had a really great time with my ladies group friends. It stormed a few times while I was there and I have never heard thunder quite that loud, it was very close. I never had to wear my sunglasses due to the overcast. It was actually quite nice since I was expecting it to be hot and sticky from the humidity. I’ll share a few pictures.  There were magnolias everywhere.  Very pretty.

Yesterday DM had an appointment, unusual for a Saturday, and we went to lunch afterward. I splurged and got prime rib, yum. Today we are going over to her center for the Mother’s Day buffet but I’m going to eat light because of my colonoscopy on Tuesday. DM is feeling so much better but still has a cough and wears out easily. One day at a time!

@1ANGELCAT, I am so sorry about Houdini.

Pennie @Nickelpenny, best wishes for your surgery tomorrow. It sounds like you have everything very organized and ready for your recovery at home. If you need anything please let me know.

Have a great day everyone!

Sharon, welcome home.  I'm glad your DM is feeling better, and I hope the cough and tiring are history soon.  I'm glad you enjoyed Waco and your ladies group, and that the weather did not cause any problems.

Vanessa, I love that picture.  I know you were adopted, but your mother reminds me of you in some of the pictures you've shared with us.  I hope all goes well at perioperative clinic tomorrow and you BFF is cleared for his surgery.

Lenda

Thank you Lenda.

Lovely photo of your late mam and you.

I'm so sorry she died so young and you lost your mam at a very young age too.

Lovely photo.

Your gran looks incredibly like Pauline's late mam and her mam's sister

Thanks,  my grandmother (the one with the glasses) was half Swiss and half English, so you never know.

You might try the Library - you should be able to turn the chair around so your back is to the window, or angle it if you want a bit of a view. May not be much conversation happening, but you would likely have company.

I spent a lot of time in the Library on my last cruise and thought how nice it would have been to have a project to work on.

we were just in there and it was like a meat locker. So cold!  But good to keep in mind.

Good morning all!

I'm very late today.  We were up late last night hoping to see the Aurora Borealis but gave up when we heard that the "show" wouldn't begin until around 2 am.  We had even driven way out into the country and parked along the road with dozens of other cars. It was perfect, no lights at all.  BUT lots of traffic going past for some reason (Saturday night??), so their headlights didn't help. Our neighbor had been out there the night before and got great photos.  But all we could see was a definite glow along the horizon, nothing more.  I wonder how many of the people out there stayed hours later.

Happy Mother's Day!!  We will be going to dinner tonight with the 6 "kids" and grandkids.  We've had reservations for weeks, so no problem there.  It's a gorgeous day again, so I plan to have a lovely day of gardening -- a perfect day -- gardening and family time.

Every day is plant health for gardeners, I celebrate all nurses and know quite a few retired nurses.  I love limericks, in fact much more than poetry.  My DM was quite good at writing limericks.  Good quote, I'll pass on the red wine but would like the drink and the meal (with a few substitutions).  Have not been to Japan.  Thank you @bennybear for your great photos.

Our weather has been wonderful -- I may even have to start watering because (gasp) we haven't had rain in awhile.  Not happy to hear about the fires in BC though -- so early!  Not looking forward to a smoky summer.

@Haljo1935 Happy Birthday to your brother!

The latest news on Amber is that she was "unceremoniously released" from Swedish in Seattle (insurance reasons I'm sure) and her DH took her to Providence Rehab here in Everett.  As far as I know there isn't any big news re her status, and still will need that surgery to reattach the skull flap when the time is right.  I'm thankful there hasn't been any bad news, and that she's making steps forward. 🙂

That is so interesting, Graham. I’m glad everything worked out safely all these years later.

My late dad and older brother worked in the shipyards in Sunderland.
