Thinking of cheating on NCL

My family has cruised exclusively on NCL for 5 cruises now. We love the freestyle idea and have been mostly satisfied but I am thinking of trying something new new next go round. We are not big drinkers and prefer things casual. Carnival out of New Orleans is a convenient possibility. Any suggestions or should we stay with NCL?

We're branching out and booked Celebrity. It's a great itinerary and to be honest I tired of waiting for NCL to push out their Fall/Winter 2017-18 itineraries...

Cheat up or sideways, not down.;)

Seriously, I could have a good time on any line and any ship. If something floats your boat (pun), go for it.

I might go back to Carnival to try Vista and I am going to try MSC for the first time in 2018 on Seaside (possibly Divina before that) but I'm already booked on Escape again in 2017. Nothing's wrong with hopping from one line to the next. At some point, I will sail Harmony O.T.S. if Royal Caribbean ever finishes construction of the thing. :p

Give Celebrity a try. They are steps up from NCL. Great service, MDR is very good and no formal nights (changed to evening chic...in other words, almost anything goes).

Frankly, Carnival is a step up from NCL - Celebrity is a further step up, so you might want to go gradually.

We've already chosen to try another cruise line, MSC, and will give it a try in 2018 on their brand new ship, MSC Seaside. Nothing ventured, nothing gained... or lost.

It's exciting, just to think about something new and we may not like it as well as we like but NCL but how will we know if we don't try. JMO :D

Try Princess or RCL or X.

Where I also cruise on Celebrity, I wouldn't cruise on Carnival, since I don't think they are a step up and, as I said, Celebrity is steps up from NCL.

I like variety and I'm glad I've gone on various lines to see them for myself. Haven't had a bad cruise yet.

Carnival has had its cutbacks over the years (and I haven't been on them since 2014 but am going this year on Sunshine), but so has NCL and the other major lines.

What Carnival ship cruises from N.O.?

I cruised on NCL in January and got off the ship and boarded a Carnival ship the same day. The Carnival experience was much better than NCL.

I have made over 40 cruises on NCL and this was my second on Carnival. I was pleasantly surprised with the cruise on Carnival. Not so much on NCL the last time.

We did the opposite a few years ago (went from the Epic and got on Carnival Liberty) and haven't been on Carnival since. It was fine when our kids were young but not for us now. NCL is still our favorite but RCCL is a very close 2nd.

I am looking to try Celebrity in 2017 for the first time. I am really nervous about their dress code. DH always wear cargo shorts. He didn't bring any pants or jeans to our Alaska cruise. Not sure how he will feel about their chic nights and smart casual.

I have done Carnival, Royal Carribbean , and NCL. There are positives/negatives on all.

Right now it seems with NCL you get a better price with the UBP and SDP included, or at least we did. That promo may be over.

I haven't written the review yet but our Epic cruise last week was a disappointment. I had already made up my mind to try MSC next year based on them status matching my IHG Spire status to their Gold. I don't feel married to a line but had been pleased with NCL based on our Sky experience last year. If MSC isn't a bit better, I'll probably try something else. It will take a couple years to get over the Epic.

After many Carnival cruises, we found we got a bit bored with their entertainment and food, so we wandered to NCL. Found we loved the freestyle choices (and we had once swore we would never pay for a restaurant - hahaha) and their different shows/entertainment. We tried RCCL in a suite, and while we liked the entertainment and ship layout, the food was disgusting. We now go back and forth between NCL and Carnival, trying the newer, larger ships, which we seem to prefer over the smaller ships. We will also try other lines, when we find something that matches the itinerary we want, and home port.

Not to get flamed - but I have found that NCL's offering of the UBP as a perk has definitely turned them into a more of a party ship than Carnival.

Same here! :D We are NCL loyal, but see nothing wrong with trying other cruise lines! MSC (and a large group of friends!) prompted us to book on Seaside for April 2018! ;)

My last 5 out of 6 cruises were with ncl. I tried Royal and it was a huge mistake. The grass is not always greener elsewhere. But I do understand your statement about cheating. I am a chairman member at a casino in Atlantic city have the best host I could ever have. I sometimes feel like trying out new casinos down there and I actually feel like I'm cheating on him lol. As crazy as that sounds. My last trip to AC I was with some family and went to Harrahs on Facebook you can tag in yourself or someone else can with where you are. My sister tagged me into Harrahs and of course my host saw it and said....Excuse me??????? Lmaoo. He was kidding of course but I felt so guilty

I've been on 6 Carnival cruises (along with one each on HAL, Disney, and Princess). In my opinion, the cruise lines are all more alike than they are different. They are all unique in certain ways, no harm in playing the field!

What ship were you thinking of? I've sailed Triumph twice, and it's a bit older but we enjoyed her but still has lots of activities. Dream is one of the newer ships.

We are looking forward to our first NCL on Epic next year! [emoji4]
