Will you ever be Zenith ?

Don't they already? Top suites and zeniths?

Top cruisers are not necessarily Zenith members--sometimes, there are none aboard--and are not necessarilly traveling in suites...

The recognition merely goes to the persons aboard a specific sailing who have accumulated the most Cruise Points...

Hi Eileen and Jay

We are Chet and Carol from Chicago. We are also fortunate to be Zenith.

Coincidently we are on the Transatlantic on the Eclipse this November and the Top end and Bottom end cruises in Australia. Leaving for the Century tomorrow. Look forward to meeting you in Michael's Club. (I am also a retired educator)

Hi Chet and Carol:

It was wonderful cruising with you on Reflection. The stereotype of who is a Zenith is quite different from the reality. If you had asked me three years ago if I'd have anywhere near the number of cruises I have, my answer would have been a resounding "no". Some of those who are now posting that they will never reach the Zenith level may someday be surprised find themselves there. Hope that I'll be around to meet them in Michael's Club. Have great cruises.

We have done the same thing...going on cruise #40, #41, #42 this year and probably don't stand a chance of ever making Zenith. We love to hop around too much between cruise lines for a bit of variety. We are only Elite with two of the lines and because those benefits transfer over to RCCL via Celebrity -- we will most likely travel with them as well. Yep, the climbing days were long coming and probably won't get too much further up that ladder on any one cruise line. Variety is the spice of life, you know.

We've done the math. We are too old and way too poor to ever reach Zenith. We have to be thankful we are Elite+ as when I converted our old cruises using the new formula we would have only been Elites and not that close to Elite+.

Ok..I see what you mean, those who are recognized as top cruisers with flowers and recognition. Thanks for clarifying.

Hi Andy, so glad you will see Zenith soon. You deserve it. Love that you cruise with your mom. I am taking 83yr. old dad on Princess Coastal cruise in Oct. I have cruised with him once a year since my mom passed away 8 yrs. ago. Happy sailing to you and your mom. I too am Zen ( have way to Zenith ) and would like to see new level at 1500. If X cruised more out of West Coast I would never go on another line. Heather

I don't think we will ever be Zenith. I haven't done the math, but it just seems like an extreme amount to archive. We also like to mix things up with land based vacations. We also want to try other cruise lines (never Carnival and most likely not NCL again).

Zenith is within reach for me since they changed solos to double points. Only difference is I now am booking a C3 or A2 cabin rather than my usual 1A. The difference between 6 pts/day and 10 on longer cruises really adds up quickly. On an upcoming cruise, the price differential was only $100 for an extra 4 pts/day. Well worth it to me.

What are the perks when you reach Zenith?

The list of benefits can be found under Captain's Club on the Celebrity Site. Here are a few highlights for me:

Free Premium Beverage Package

Suite Amenities even if in an Inside cabin

Access to Michael's Club

Unlimited laundry and dry cleaning

1620 Internet minutes

Lunch in Bistro on 5 when doing a B2B

There are some unlisted benefits as well:

Real priority embarkation. You have a dedicated line and are escorted to the ship where you are taken to Michael's Club

You are assigned a dedicated Executive Concierge to handle all cruise requests and questions. This bypasses Customer Service.

Invitations to special events and dinners.

I think I will set a goal for Elite Plus - but can't see a way to get to Zenith. Unless you can carryover points with you into the next life!!

I agree -- E+ is a ways off for us too. And, frankly I don't see that much to get excited about there. We're also D+ on RC, and in the same situation there -- Pinnacle is just too far away. Between the structure of those two loyalty programs and the dearth of ships on the West Coast -- it's like RCCL is just begging us to try Princess or HAL!

I don't expect to ever reach Zenith but was happy when they changed the program and made an Elite plus.. It would be nice to have a level in between to give those of us who are Elite plus an extra incentive to continue booking Celebrity.,

Hi Charles:).......I thought you receive a free cruise too....isn't that

the biggest perk?

That's for the initiation into the Zenith club. It's the same as Royal's welcome to their top tier.

However the Zenith level is a perk that keeps on giving on every cruise. :D

I doubt we will ever achieve Zenith. We go on 1-3 cruises per year, mostly on Celebrity, but as I am in my early 60's I would be lucky to live long enough to make it. I haven't done the math as it seems unattainable anyway, but since the highest we have ever booked is AQ (save for one suite GTY) it is very unlikely.

I also really, really wish there was an interim level. I believe when Elite+ was created the benefits were virtually worthless unless you need to be on the internet a lot. An extra bag of laundry? Ok, that's nice but not that big a deal, especially on 7 day cruises. I was very disappointed that they didn't add in a couple other nice perks. There are many things they could have done that would not have cost them much, if anything but they chose not to. Please do NOT interpret this to mean I do not appreciate the great perks I attained when I reached Elite. I just thought if they were going to add another loyalty level they should have some perks worth reaching for.

We will never be a Zenith because we are simply not loyal to any specific cruise line. DW and I love variety in our itineraries, ships, and lines (have cruised on 14 cruise lines) and would be bored stiff if we spent that many days on a single cruise line. If we cruised Celebrity (or any other line) 100+ days a year we would tire of the same menus, production shows, etc.

Hi Hank:

We don't tire of routine at home either. I would never second guess the menu nor the companionship. Variety might be the spice of life but the wrong kind of variety will help me fall over the balcony railing on any ship. ;)

We're E+ and we'll never make Zenith. Frankly, the the benefits for E+ are not all that great and from my viewpoint, neither are those for Zenith. Elite is the one to shoot for; anything past it is nice but not worth a mad pursuit IMO

I totally agree, especially when you consider that it takes more than twice as many points to reach Elite + as Elite.

For requiring over double the points, they are providing a very meager and disproportionate increase in perks.

Also, they should provide double Captain's Club coupons (at every level) for a 14 day cruise, the same as you would get if booking two 7 day cruises.

My husband also has commented about this. They should give you something extra for a 14 night sailing.

From a passenger perspective I would certainly agree. Remember, changing the system was viewed by Celebrity as a way of slowing down the number of people going into Elite. Remember all the complaints about overcrowded events? This was also an attempt to control some of the costs associated with the program. I'm pleased and surprised that they did recognize solo cruisers, but doubt if they would go beyond that. They would argue that you do get more points the longer the cruise since you get points on a per day basis and your per day cost can be lower on longer cruises such as TAs.

Being Elite and above gets you into Diamond on Royal so that's a big plus for us because we sail on them every so often. Although we are not crazy about their biggest ships, the evening get together is really great on those ships--better than dinner sometimes!

We will hit Elite + after our Nov cruise on X. Seems that is our only way for more perks at this point..have been checking some suite prices but they are a big jump up from AQ for us ..so that's not likely anytime soon.

No complaints about the new system.
