On the same but different track for anyone who has done the Baltics and Mediterranean which is the better one to do? I have finally got my brother to agree to do Europe but there is now the quandry of which is the one to do. I'll be happy with either but he doesn't like history (reduces the chance of the Med in my opinion) but likes heat (makes it a plus for the Med) so I thought I'd ask experienced Europe cruisers for their opinions.

It looks like Princess is cutting back in Europe for 2014 with the Regal taking over the 2013 Royal routes, the Emerald taking over the Crown 2013 routes, the Ruby taking over the Caribbean 2013 routes, the Royal taking over the Emerald 2013 routes, and the Ocean doing many of her 2013 routes with some of the 2013 routes of the Pacific and the Ruby.

I think this is why I'm so disappointed. I fully appreciate putting less ships in Europe in the current economy, but for love of God, mix up the itineraries. Do we really need an entire season of British Isles and Grand Med? Mix it up a bit. The 2014 itineraries look like pure laziness. When you run a region with that few ships there has to be variety you can't do the same itinerary over and over again. Regal could have easily done one or two Greek Island trips. And Ruby doesn't need to do British Isles the entire season...how about a couple of wine region trips that Celebrity does, Adriatic or Southern Spain. I love Princess but am extremely disappointed in what they've put together for 2014

I think it's a littebit sad that Ruby Princess offers only one cruise to Norway - I think we do not need 9 British Isles cruises.

I really liked the Iceland & Norway cruise of Caribbean Princess in 2012 (Jul 20) - why don't they do this in 2014 again?

And two North Cape cruises would also be great - one in June, one in July! :)

My gut reaction is that the British Isles itineraries are very popular. We did not get one price drop on our British Isles cruise on the Caribbean Princess last summer. Maybe they just were much more profitable with British Isles than Iceland & Norway.

Celebrity is sending the Solstice to Alaska. Maybe cruise lines are seeing more profit there from bigger ships and that explains less ships in Europe.

Celebrity is scheduled to announce Northern Europe 2014 on March 21 & and the balance of Europe on March 27th. That's when we should have our answers.

We have done 1 Baltic and 6+ Mediterranean cruises. Both are great.

You can enjoy both without being into history, ports offer a lot to explore beyond historic sites. Scenery is wonderful in both, maybe a bit better on a Mediterranean depending on where you go.

When we did the Baltics went out of Dover.

We have taken cruises out of Barcelona, Rome, Athens and Istanbul. Barcelona is the easy and less costly to get to the port from the airport.

Look at which ports you would enjoy the most, what days the ship is in port (Sunday and Monday are sometimes days things are closed), look at how much time you have in port, less 3/4 a day is not much.

We have done the British Isles on Crown Princess in 2009, great cruise, it was the best ship we ever cruised on! :)

Pacific Princess in Alaska? Maybe the 14-night-round-trips?

But which ship should sail the Greek isles itineraries, if Ruby Princess sails the Britisch Isles/Norway-itineraries and Emerald Princess the Norway/Baltic/Med itineraries from Southampton? :confused:

Only possible ship would be Caribbean Princess. :)

Ocean Princess will be doing some Greek Island cruises.
