RIP Captains club coupons

We just completed a cruise on the Summit and the welcome letter said there would be coupons. Initially, there were no coupons for most of us and the reason given was that most people had the beverage package. I don't know whether the people without beverage packages got coupons or had it attached to their cards.

A day or two into the cruise, they were passing out coupons to the classic beverage package holders because some of the Captain's Club drinks were not included in the classic package.

They still had a nice cocktail hour with hors dourves in the Revelations Lounge.

Just curious- which Captain's Club drinks are not included in the Classic package? I thought all of them were...

We are on the Equinox now, and just used our match play at the casino today. It's a bit of a process. You have to tell the dealer you would like to use the match play benefits. The dealer then advises a floor manager, who takes your key cards, verifies how many match plays you have, prints out receipts for each match play for you to sign, then gives you coupons to use. Hope this helps!

I have no idea, why they don't look at the card, and have then provide promo chips, the same as they would if you asked for chips from OBC-N, it's how it _SHOULD_ be done, maybe they'll simplify this...eventually.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

KIr Royale was what my friend tried to order and she was told it wasn't on the classic package.

Thanks. That's interesting- you would think they could make it with the sparkling wine that's on the Classic package... or is it the Creme de Cassis that's the problem?

Departed Constellation on Oct 10. No coupons and was told all benefits were on seapass.

There was one sheet in our stateroom with elite benefits listed.

Here's how it worked:

1. At computer log-in the system knew we were each entitled to 90 free minutes and provided instructions on how to proceed.

2. Were instructed to write "Loyalty Elite" on the laundry ticket and we both got our free laundry, pressing and dry cleaning.

I think that was all the old "coupon" benefits we used and we had no problems.

It was an improvement....but I suggest you look at the benefits before you go. The sheet was a bit vague (ie didn't say laundry is limited to 30 pieces etc....) and the way X is now I could see them charging for pieces over that amount. In fact there was a count by them listed on the ticket when it was returned.

What would be really nice is if when you purchased an item for which you had a coupon, the Celebrity employee tells you that there's a coupon available and asks if you want to use it - or in the alternative, the system automatically applies it.

On RCL you get a sheet in your cabin listing all of the coupons. Double coupons if you are a couple and both at the same C&A level. They are pre-loaded on your SeaPass card. They are automatically applied by the system. It works very well. I used to hate cutting and filling out coupons. Hopefully Celebrity will use the same system.

Just off the 3 Oct Equinox Med cruise. The benefits on the card worked fine, once we straightened out the fact that the ship had no record of me being in CC, never mind being Elite. We found out when I tried to get my 90 internet minutes and the computer only offered the standard pay package. Had there been coupons, we would have known immediately there was an issue, as we would only have my wife's sheet left for us instead of two sheets.

The casino thing wasn't that big a deal. Just a minute or so wait. We went to roulette at an off time.

One other switch: laundry is no longer 30 items, it's whatever you can fit in the paper bag without ripping it! We still just did 30 to be safe. The laundry did an excellent job on items with which they were entrusted. Only undies and t shirts and the like.

Thanks for the replies. I'll be glad not to have to tear out coupons.....glad to hear they provide a list of what is on the card. I'll have to see how it works out when we are on Connie in January.

I had never heard about this before.

As to the drinks coupons for elite drinks, I have no idea if this will on the card. Hadn't even thought about it.:D

How do you get 30 items in the bag? The last time we cruised (from my fading memory) I thought we might have been able to get 10(maybe 15??) or so items??

It depends what you place in the bag e.g. if they are all pants/knickers (or whatever you call underwear that you wear in that region in the USA :o) or socks, then you can easily get 30 pairs in the bag ;).

The website still says:

***Includes 20 items on itineraries with water usage restrictions or up to 30 items on itineraries without water usage restrictions. Water usage restrictions apply on most Alaskan and Baltic itineraries

Of course they rarely get it updated.

On my Sept trip on Solstice there still was 30 pieces for the Elite option, but the "fill the bag for a flat rate" special stated without being ripped.

On the other hand they weren't using the electronic system.

I'd be interested how this shakes out.

DW says challenge accepted. Swears she can can fold 30 items (no socks or undies) small enough to fit in that bag. We'll find out next Feb. on Equinox.

I've done the "fill the bag" option on Royal with my mom's free laundry option as D+. I agree with your wife that careful folding and stuffing can definitely be done in the paper or plastic bag without ripping.

If someone has the old coupon/current benefits for Elite, can you post them? Taking mom on her first X cruise after sailing Royal so we'd like to know what is available to us.

The size of the clothes are going to play a major factor here. A woman that is 5' 2" and 100 pounds is going to be able to get more in their bag than a man that is 6'4" and 250 pounds.

Not really a one size fits all concept, that's why the stuff the bag without ripping it is really not fair. If this is the case I'll be having a conversation with the Captain's Club host on board, as on my last trip it took two bags for less than 20 pieces for me.

On Equinox we still had the sheet in the cabin saying which coupons we were entitled to but a note said they were loaded onto our sea pass and we did not need to take the vouchers. I only used the gelato credit, she just swiped my card and gave me a gelato easy done.

No argument ORV, I'm a big guy (almost 300lbs) and 30 items usually fills two bags. However dw remains confident she can fit 30 golf and tee shirts in one bag. If I start spilling things on my cargo shorts or dockers though all bets are off.

Maybe one bag each for sailings of 7 days or less and two for over 7 would be more reasonable.
