coaster Posted December 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2017 (edited) Just started looking for a cruise back on HAL early next year. Surprised to see an inside for this low in February on a new ship. Not big on the lack of a promenade deck, but a low price can make me overlook things..... coaster Posted December 13, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Sorry, I meant Koningsdam in subject and not Konsingsdam.
Rare Vict0riann Posted December 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2017 You Floridians are sooo lucky that you can book last minute. That is an amazing price, and we have heard great things about Koningsdam (however it is spelt :D) particularly the specialty restaurants. We are looking forward to cruising on her - regardless of price!
Cruzaholic41 Posted December 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2017 There’s been prices like that on all the cruises since she came across the pond. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen such low prices, this consistently, on a new ship. It’s a little concerning to me that HAL is having such trouble filling their ships. Krazy Kruizers Posted December 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2017 That's really a great price. Hope you go for it.
1ANGELCAT Posted December 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2017 I looked at this sailing. It is the week of Feb 18, which is Presidents holiday in the U.S. The airfare from PHL to FLL is almost equal to the base price of the cruise. stickey_mouse Posted December 13, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 13, 2017 I'm looking at this cruise as well. I find it annoying that the Koningsdam will share Half Moon Cay with the Eurodam that week. I've never been to Half Moon Cay, though, so maybe that's not a big deal? haladdict Posted December 14, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2017 We have shared Half Moon Cay with a big ship. It was busy, but loungers for everyone. The BBQ worked well too and bar service was good. We got off the ship early and booked our Clamshell as soon as it was possible. Sandra
Rare ski ww Posted December 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 15, 2017 There is lots of space at HMC. That is a good price. We're in the same boat as the others in that the cost of the flight for us is not worth taking one of those short one week cruises.. Enjoy. caribbeanboy Posted December 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2017 We paid $596 each for the February 18 sailing with service charge included. This is for an inside gty cabin. Btw it's a 7 day cruise. Excellent price.
stickey_mouse Posted December 16, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2017 I'm seriously tempted to book. I'm glad to hear that 2 ships at Half Moon don't make for a lesser experience. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

stickey_mouse Posted December 17, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 17, 2017 When a deal seems too good to be true........................I also would like to know what this means. Are you suggesting the price is actually higher? The sailing is only for 3 nights? You have to wash dishes in the galley to get that fare?

whogo Posted December 17, 2017 #17 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Don't know what CHPURSER is warning about, but I would worry that the food and entertainment budget would be slashed, unless they can force you to sit through a time share pitch before you can board. February 18 seems like an odd time to have bargain basement cruise prices.
Cruiser Bruiser Posted December 17, 2017 #18 Share Posted December 17, 2017 I think all the cruise lines are experiencing lower than average bookings because of the hurricanes. I would be excited for your excellent deal and enjoy the gracious service of HAL. Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app
stickey_mouse Posted December 17, 2017 #19 Share Posted December 17, 2017 There's always great deals to be had within the final cancellation window, on any cruise line. It doesn't mean anything ominous. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

iancal Posted December 18, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 18, 2017 This price is not out of line. It is what you pay for a mid summer Alaska cruise on Zaandam etc. if you book a week or two prior to sailing. A few years ago it was as low as $299. Buy it now before it sells out and have a wonderful cruise. Good for you. It is all about supply and demand.

I have been on many older ships in the past. No issues with that. Personally, a real promenade deck on the Rotterdam is worth a premium over a newer ship without restricted outdoor views. iancal Posted December 19, 2017 #23 Share Posted December 19, 2017 Our choice is always a balcony/verandah. More difficult to get and we typically buy in the 60-45 day window. Though a few times it has been anywhere within 21-3 days of blast off. All depends on supply and demand and which ship/cruise line blinks first and posts our target price. We have found that anytime between US Thanksgiving and Christmas is a great time to snag a last minute cruise or AI in the Caribbean, Mexico, or Cuba.
