2 new ships for 2023 and 2025

We have sailed on the Oasis class and one of its sisters. Too big, too noisy in the MDRs, too many people trying to crowd into theater and other venues, and forget the buffets. The Royal class is about vas large as we like. These new ships will be a welcome change from the now very aging older Princess ships with heir small theaters and terrible passenger flows. However, may never see it as we prefer the smaller ships.

I’m grateful to see that these new Princess ships appear to be a new design (based on size and capacity) and not a copy of the LNG ships currently being built for Carnival Corps other brands (Aida, P&O, Costa, and Carnival). So far Princess is managed to remain separate and design ships for their own brand rather than adapt existing shared designs from their sister brands. For all of those complaining- at least these new builds won’t be clones of CCL ships with a princess funnel.

What effect would these have on you? If you don’t want it don’t use it

Space is very limited on a ship. Those things take up a lot of it. Plus it would change the feel, demographics and noise. We would also be paying for something we would not use. Let other lines do the "floating theme/water parks" please.

With this logic they should take out the pools, Mutts, casinos and specialty dining, atrium activities and make one large floating library/ retirement home.

we did b2b on the NCL Getaway .. I found the ship too big and impersonal with the staff .. the washrooms were too far in between and too much walking for us older folks.. no I made up my mind I'll stay with the older ships...

Complete opposite with our Getaway cruise in Nov. '17..best food ever..best entertainment..KILLER dining outside overlooking the sea eating lobster!! Best dance show ever- Burn The Floor...dinner & show in the Big Top..also terrific..service was terrific..we are also old..went on the Regal twice..ship dead by 10 pm..food & shows mediocre IMO...AND we had to wait 45-60 minutes EVERY night for MTD..awful....not enough specialty dining..average age was death, and we were 64 & 62 ..walking is good for you..best thing on the Regal was Alfredo's...we love the big ships..more options for dining, shows, everything..smaller ships we find boring...Oasis class fantastic..been on them 3x and going on the Harmony in Nov as well...to each their own....and BTW, Princess will NEVER have water slides because they want to keep their ships for older/ mature passengers, same as HAL & Celebrity...NCL, RCI, Carnival & Disney ( now MSC, too..) want families and younger crowds....if you like smaller ships & no water parks, then stick to Princess, HAL & Celebrity..that's a pretty good amount of ships..we were in our cabin almost every night by 10 pm on the Regal...

Only wish they were coming sooner and their release was interlaced with the still to launch Royal Plus Class ships. Seems a shame to dedicate effectively ten years to the same template rather than mixing things up with multiple platforms at the same time, i.e. similarly to what MSC is doing currently.

It's usually the sister brands that adapt from Princess, mostly the two P&Os. I wonder why they only went slightly smaller than Iona which is coming in at 184,000 tons. Just sucks that they are already picking off the Grand-class.

We have thought of doing a river cruise but figure we would miss the onboard entertainment too much

We are going a Viking river cruise before we get on the Sky Princess November of 2019. Hopefully we will get the best of both worlds. Dave

Does Princess know their target demographic?

Their product offering should be aimed at this demographic. Ships of this passenger volume are not in compliance to the past offerings.

Not interested in booking Princess to be on a mega ship. Will not purchase this new product, neither will our children nor niece/nephew who wish modest size ships focused on the ocean.

Fortunately, there is much cruising product out there - off to the premium lines - booked an Oceania today for all of us. Bye bye Princess, HAL, Celebrity.

I’ve started to look at the premium lines for after my retirement which might come as soon as March of next year.....:):):)
