Csmommy1 Posted November 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2019 Hi! We will be cruising out of NYC this November & have a 1st time cruiser question. Snacks - do we bring them, or are they onboard? I’m talking chips, pretzels, M&M’s, twisters, etc. while meals are great, snacking is fun too!

Sometimes they have some snack items at the buffet. Crepe station has mini m&ms for example.
jjjct Posted November 8, 2019 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2019 At lunch in the Garden Buffet there are usually potato chips and tortilla chips and there are always pretzel rolls that are like Philly soft pretzels. No sweet candy treats though.
gmbhardy Posted November 8, 2019 #7 Share Posted November 8, 2019 With all the food available on a cruise, I really don’t think you need snacks. 3 1

There are no candy options other than being in gift shop, OP was asking if those were available and also salty snacks and if she can bring them on board. Yes she can.
Rare blueslily Posted November 8, 2019 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2019 I bring my favorite snacks, but eat a lot less of the snacks than I ever plan. Why? Because I eat so much of the food onboard. Im never craving a snack. I seem to always want food, hahahaha.

don't-use-real-name Posted November 8, 2019 #11 Share Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) The buffet will have some sort of snackypoos and alternatively when closed you can go to O'Sheehan's and get your fill of potato chips and anything on the menu. You can load up a plate and take it back to your cabin if you like. You will not find Snickers O'Henry's Baby Ruth Mars and the alike at the buffet - Gift Shop Yes for $$$. For fancy deserts visit the buffet late in the evening after 8pm for various kinds of cheese cake lemon bars and lots of other fattening yummy stuff - remember to take the long way with stairs getting back to your cabin to burn off those delicious calories ! And don't forget the soft-serve ice cream machine on most ships - find it somewhere in the buffet area ! For real ice cream visit the Topsiders grill (not on all ships) pool area - - - 1 scoop - 20 laps in the pool 2 scoops - 16 laps on the promenade deck 3 scoops - better plan on swimming all the way back to port NO NCL will not let you take the 3 gallon bucket to your cabin. Want to destroy your diet - take your yummy treat to a bar and fix with something from the beverage package ! If in a suite Haven GV DOS OS have your Butler bring whatever you need. In a suite the Butler can bring those M&Ms or other fancy treats. What part of SNACKS don't you understand - food 24/7 for the cruise duration ! erdoran Posted November 8, 2019 #12 Share Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) Also the Bliss has the Observation Lounge with snacks much of the day....and the casinos put out some goodies in the evening. And then there’s the bar mix that’s out, and you can ask at the bar for some as well if you want. That’s a nice salty snack. hladygirl Posted November 8, 2019 #13 Share Posted November 8, 2019 On long cruises my DH has bought some snacks when we stop in ports.
WickedRed Posted November 8, 2019 #14 Share Posted November 8, 2019 I always bring snacks. Sometimes they get eaten, sometimes they don't. Bring your favorites just in case the munchies happen. 1
Oakman58 Posted November 8, 2019 #15 Share Posted November 8, 2019 I always bring snacks too. While the ship might have a meek assortment of snacks they are incredibly pricey. While food is available 24/7, it can never, EVER, replace snacks. 3 1
Sea saw 56 Posted November 8, 2019 #16 Share Posted November 8, 2019 Occasionally we bring snacks (packaged) to take along in our bag on shore excursions. Ya never know when you might need one before an organized tour is over. Usually, most of them go uneaten though, and we end up leaving them for the steward when we disembark. We tend to eat more meals, deserts, etc. on the ship and have no room for those kind of things.

KAYKAY121 Posted November 8, 2019 #19 Share Posted November 8, 2019 I am bringing snacks.....I have a plane ride and a hotel stay. I also might get hungry and not want to wait or walk to a feeding trough! You can get everything you mentioned on board in the gift shop. It is pricey though. SheSailsFL Posted November 9, 2019 #21 Share Posted November 9, 2019 This will be my 3rd cruise since I switched to “clean” eating for multiple health reasons. While there is so much food on the ship, I try to avoid a lot of the prepared and processed foods that are cooked in oils and have added sugar. In the MDR and buffet I can always find something that works. For snacks, I usually grab raw fruits and veggies but I do take my own raw nuts and RX bars in case I need them. My biggest problem (temptation😋) are all the yummy frozen concoctions. Those are rare treats but usually stick to wine. All that said, bring whatever you think you’ll want!

In a suite the Butler will provide on request M&Ms gummy bears or salted nuts and the usual complimentary treats on behalf of the Captain - Hotel Director now General Manager and the Concierge. As for those potato chips if O'Sheehan's - Topsiders Grill and the Buffet in the afternoon if not found there then the Captain is going to have to make a port call to resupply with Lays Potato chips or other house brand *** *** Del Rio can't afford Pringles ! LOL ! If something is not found that you feel should be there ASK ! Oops - Leonardo you forgot the potato chips again - chop chop get these to the guests right away ! WYB! Posted November 13, 2019 #24 Share Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) If you really miss snacks you can buy them at what ever port you visit in a place called walmart or a supermarket or even a regular market. david_sobe Posted November 13, 2019 #25 Share Posted November 13, 2019 Snacks can often be life saving food while boarding cruise ships. How often do you hear if there is a delay in boarding, the cruise line did not offer "snacks." Some people cannot go 1 hour without grazing. My comment is not directed at the OP but for those who seem to complain of lack of food because of an hour delay in boarding. To the OP. Go for it. Bring all the snacks you want. If there ever is a delay in boarding, you will be a life saver!
