New Health Questionnaire prior to sailing?

Saw in the corona virus news updates that all Princess pax "will be required to complete a pre-cruise health screening survey at their homes or at hotels" prior to boarding.

Has anyone received or seen these?

Thanks!

IMO.......they most certainly should.

When we arrived in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua in 2018 on the Island we were all given an extensive medical questionnaire from the port authorities to fill out if you wanted to go ashore. As you disembarked the tender (a-hem) water shuttle. The took the form and took your temp. Orally that is...........

Not saying this should be done in ports but at embarkation for sure.

Way too many people lie on those questionnaires.  Unfortunately.

Why would you expect them not to unless Princess would give them 100% credit for not boarding.

Does anyone know when or where those questionnaires are being handed out? I don't really care how accurate they are, if they're going to be given out before I leave for the cruise port or expected to fill it out in the waiting lounge.  Just curious.

The corporate medical officer for Princess said in a video the questionnaires are "to be completed at homes or at hotels" prior to boarding. Didn't say "at the cruise port" prior to embarkation. Anyone know?

We boarded the Sky yesterday. Questionnaires were handed out when we entered the terminal. After filling them out we were asked to verify our answers orally. No temperatures were taken.

After scanning our passports the gentleman knew we had been in China 5 years ago --

Yes they handed the questionnaire out while in the line for check-in, when I went in the sky 2 weeks ago. However since you left yesterday, however last night they posted a video stating the new protocols. I did check this morning on my cruise personalizer but there's nothing there nor on The Medallion up but a health questionnaire, as I rejoin this guy yet again in 3 weeks.

Boarding in 3 weeks & new this morning on the red highlighted health alert link:

Enhanced pre-boarding screening of all guests and crew, including temperature checks, who have visited any area with apparent community spread and for individuals reporting illness.

We board the Ruby in 5 weeks and have not received anything like a health form but expect to have one given to us before we board in Sydney.  Pax lie when filling out the forms knowing they may be denied boarding just like in the past so they have questionable validity.  However it does give Princess an out if they can produce a form you signed and lied.

I would be upset if anyone tried to take my temperature with an oral device.  What a great way to spread germs.  My healthcare providers use a handheld device held to the forehead to measure temperature which is much more sanitary.  The cruise lines probably don't have enough devices however to check every pax quickly.

The problem with checking temps is that it sounds like many cases of the virus are mild (possibly with no fever) and transmission can come from unsymptomatic people...

Hopefully people will be more honest with the questionaire than they were with the old one! When we boarded the Crown in early Feb we were just asked if we had been to or through China on the past 14 days. Obviohsly, the virus has travelled way beyond that.

Yea, right. Even with the new wording they'll answer in the same fashion as before unless they've been to a doctor with some minor symptoms & could get caught in a lie.

I'd hate to be standing in line to board with a runny nose & sneezing. 🤧

One problem with Florida departures.....pollen and leaf mold are high and causing some of the worst allergy attacks in years.  I've been coughing for over a month with burning eyes..and YES, it's an allergy.

I always cough because I am allergic to perfumes, scents in cleaning products, and tobacco smoke...walking in the casino or near Churchill’s kills me.  I am crushing in three weeks. I have decided to get a note from my doctor stating I am an allergic asthmatic so as to not panic others if it becomes an issue.

5 weeks ago there were no questionnaire requirement indeed, it was within February where all things started.

I know that people denied boarding due to health reasons do receive 100% refund plus 20% FCC for Carnival (Cruise Line) if they're not allowed to rejoin the ship at a later date - think things should be similar to Princess.

There is a new video on YouTube from the Chief Medical Officer of Princess.  He mentioned that there will be thermal scanners or "non-touching" thermometers to check everyone's temp before boarding.

Detecting someone with a temperature is quite different from detecting someone who has contacted the virus but is not yet presenting any symptoms. They may still have the virus, but will be allowed to board.

Just like what they are trying to do at some USA airports with passengers returning directly from some overseas countries. If one person is suspected of having the virus, 200 other passengers who may have become infected during the flight are still allowed to enter the country and disperse around the country.

So are they going to have a doctor on hand too to let the powers that be know what the fever is attributed to?

Someone can board with a fever that has nothing to do with any infectious virus.......why deny them boarding?

They could let them board & keep them confined to their cabin until they confirm if it's caused by a virus or not.

Assuming they have the facilities to even check it. Who knows?

Probably not.

Probably true, but not a good idea. On Princess's website it states, and I'm quoting, "Shipboard staff will be scanning passports to verify transit through any of the prohibited areas. Given the serious nature of these circumstances, false responses on pre-boarding documents will result in immediate disembarkation at the next opportunity. Guests who do not disclose travel through prohibited areas may also face additional legal consequences." (Bolded portion highlighted for emphasis). Personally, I would not want to risk legal consequences if I lied about my state of health and was later found to be unwell. Furthermore, I would have ZERO problem with a passenger being forcibly removed from the ship for knowingly falsifying information and potentially jeopardizing the safety of everyone else. If someone were perfectly healthy at the time of embarkation and later tested positive, that's another story.

I just returned from a trip to South Africa and Swaziland, not on a cruise. We had our foreheads scanned prior to entry into each country. Returning to the United States nothing was done, which countries are cautious??

I am looking at returning to Africa to catch a cruise out of Cape Town.

I agree that many people do not worry about the flu or norovirus, many people die from that also. Cruise on!!!

these temperature scanners are just security theatre. Not one case of Coronavirus or SARS before have been detected as a result of these scans and they're notoriously unreliable

it's just all for show but if it makes people feel better, that's all that really matters
