I have seen the ceremony twice crossing the equator.  It is very impressive and no, I did not kiss that stinking fish!  We had hoped to do it again next month but the cruise has now been rescheduled for April 2021.

We were able to get off the Coral on March 19th and flew home from Buenos Aires on March 20th. I so wanted to do the equator crossing and kiss the fish, but we are so happy to be home and just enjoying this time together. I hope all of you on the cruise now will be home soon. Hope the group from Australia that we met at the International Coffee area will be able to get home in a timely manner and get back to your animals and that cute bull you showed us a photo of. Wishing you all the best and enjoy the rest of the trip.Oh, and Hi to Alex and Geffrey...Nancy...

Can I suggest that you go to Guest Services and ask them to add toothpaste to the supplies they are bringing on in Barbados. 
Do this ASAP so they have time to order.

Latest from the Captain at 0900 ships time today (29March).

 

Stopping for supplies in Bridgetown Barbados in the evening of Tuesday 31/3, departing at midnight. No disembarkation allowed.

Then arrival early on Saturday 4 April in Fort Lauderdale to disembark.

Relevant embassy’s are in loop, non US have to get ESTAs (got ours yesterday).

Princess are booking onward flights for everyone, irrespective of how originally booked. Details of these with us in a couple of days. Ship will be alongside for two days.

I guess the two days is because they don’t expect  to get flights for all immediately upon arrival.

 

Captain sounded very positive (maybe because he avoided kissing the stinking fish yesterday!).

 

Item on BBC World news TV earlier from two of our fellow passengers, with images and an video interview. Pleased to hear report that Zandaam is being allowed passage through Panama Canal.

I thought it strange that the Horizon Court was not open this morning and was told to go to one of the main dinning rooms instead for breakfast.  And now the Captain just announced that there have been a number of passengers reporting to the Medical Center with influenza type symptoms.  No other information for the moment but it appears the ship is taking steps to limit gatherings of large numbers of people.  

 

I am sure pb_uk or I will update you as further information becomes available.

Thanks Wichard, I didn’t go upstairs for breakfast.
One of the UK contingent is a former Doctor, who was an infections specialist. She has done some modelling and told us that if Covid 19 had been bought on board at our last contacts (Falklands or BA), we would have seen tens of cases by now. Not to say she’s right, but it does give some optimism.

I think I see what you're getting at. Two maybe three did this. It wasn't an open to all activity. Volunteers were asked for and only 4 or 5 selected to participate as first-timers.

I am glad that a lot of PAX did not "Kiss the Fish" .  But it only takes one sick PAX.

I am so extremely sorry to hear the news that passengers are showing up at the med facility with flu like symptoms! I was so happy earlier when it appeared your voyage had escaped the trauma of dealing with the virus. We will pray it’s not the corona but something else far less serious. 

I am certainly no specialist in this area but what your Brit passenger said seems likely however couple other possibility could obviously also explain cases showing up this long after your last port stop where passengers/crew were allowed off the ship. (I think I read in this thread that was in March 19th in BA but I’m unsure if any were allowed back onboard after disembarking here). From what I’ve read the incubation period can be up to 14 days. It is also possible that some passengers have hidden their mild symptoms In hopes they didn’t have the virus or even didn’t experience symptoms initially but as it progressed they appeared. 
 

I will continue to follow this thread and hope to see updates indicating good news related to the sick passengers. Take care!

Sad to hear of all this as Coral is my favorite ship and Captain McBain my favorite Master. He captained us on Coral in January on my most memorable to date cruise to Antarctica. May you all stay well and care for each other.
