I am happy to read that "give up the casino" was not on that list.

LOL

This year I will be able to partake in those casino machines 3 different  X's.

Yup, on three upcoming cruises.

Of course, the first cruise falls during the Lenten period, and I do not want to let the Bella-ites down.

So, I hope with all other sacrifices, maybe just maybe the Casino Gods, will be generous.

FYI.

I think I will practice on the cruise before our slot pull.

Checking and trying out machines and such.

Just saying

Be safe

It is 19°F here right now and they are talking about snow for the beginning of next week. Winter has decided to arrive.😡😡😡😡

Possible 5-8 inches of snow where I live. First "real" snow fall this year. Might be time to see if I can get the snow blower fired up for the first time this season.

I'm sure the fact that it still has last years gas in it won't be a problem 😠

I was sure I had misspelled, guess I should have googled it before I typed it.

Happy to hear they will serve in MDR too.   I love WJ for breakfast but Eric prefers Breakfast in the dining room so we split it every cruise.

What I did is ask my waiter about the availability of getting Bhurji for breakfast every morning in the MDR. He brought over the dining room manager who said that they could accommodate me in the mornings and asked for my cabin number to tell the chef. So all I had to do each morning was tell the waiter that the mgr. had approved Bhurji for cabin number ####.

I am several days, and several pages behind, but I hope to catch up today.  I want to thank everyone who was praying for my daughter’s surgery.  According to the surgeons, her surgery went well, but they did not commit too much beyond that.

The surgery was very long.  They took her in for prep at 11:30 am on Wednesday, and it was after 9 pm before she got out of observation.  Now we wait for results from biopsies, to see if there is more chemo ahead.  Hopefully we will know more after appointments over the next couple weeks.

Meanwhile, Susan and I have been there to take care of getting the kids to school and picked up after school, as well as taking care of her and doing things around the house.  She isn’t allowed to do much of anything for at least a couple weeks.

And, on another note, DIL is feeling better after her bout with.Covid, but now my son has it, and his symptoms are worse than hers were.

Good morning

Woke upto a dusting of snow on the ground and a brisk 29F.

We are anticipating another warm up in the 40's and wet rainy weather over the next few days.

On another note.

I am so glad I was able to retire.

Now being busier than ever, I do not know how I got anything done when I worked.

It is our Lenten Season.

Now being of that age that fasting is not required--I still try to eat by the guidelines.

No meat on Fridays, and only 2 meals a day (depending which recommendation you follow).

In addition, we try to start a new way of living, by changing your life style for a healthier start to a new way of life.

Some give up alcohol, chocolate, smoking, .............

I really do not drink that much, and I can avoid chocolate, and I do not smoke.

But for me, I try to do something for me as well as make someone else happy.

In the past I have paid for school meals for children.

I have surprised those I know with lunches, beauty shop, pedicure place, friends.

The hardest one I ever did was give "up" elevators for lent.

I did the stairs.

Then at work I was put on the Obstetrical assignment to do epidurals on women in Labor.

And although it was only a few floors up, I think everyone in the city had their baby that day.

up and down, up and down, up and down.

I set the record for most epidurals in one week.

The first day I was winded, and my legs hurt.

But I persevered.

This year is no different.

Increasing my walking, delivering homemade lunches.

Last night I worked the take out room at our church fish dinner.

I was present for prep from 8-10:30am

Then returned at 2pm

And was on the "line" as the bread girl, placing bread and butter in carry out containers.

Was done at 6pm

When I got home, Lizzy the cat was my best friend.

I smelled like fish (Cod to be exact)

Everything is consistently made, nothing goes under warmers, it goes from fryer or oven, to carry out containers as people wait for the fresh fish to go.

I stopped working the sit down hall, because of too many volunteers tripping over one another.

It never felt so good to shower, and then put my feet up.

I was tired.

Today hitting a sale at the mall, then mass tonight and out to dinner with friends.

Itailen tonight.

I think I am in the mood for Chicken Francois.

Be safe

My day yesterday:  Stayed home all day reading my kindle, chatting on the phone, and on CC, among other strenuous activities.  AND chicken francese is just about my favorite dish.

Mark, thank you for your daughter's surgery update.  Continued prayers for the best possible results.

Hope your son's covid symptoms diminish quickly.

You and Susan are amazing parents and grandparents.

81 plus humidity = air conditioning for us.  Also, 81 = no see ums so no opening windows = air conditioning.  Plus the pollen is very high right now.

Absolutely! We never open the windows!

Pollen has been very bad here the last few days.  Raining today hoping it knocks it down.  Think it's going to be a long spring.

Good luck and as @Sea Dog said, follow your heart.  I have no real practical or real-world advice other than to ask if there was a trusted person that could act as an intermediary?

USFL is just around the corner. Go Stars!

That would be the Philadelphia Stars,  not the NHL Dallas Stars.

I woke up to 44°F and thought it was to cold ❄.

My phone updated last night so I switched back to the Samsung keyboard.  It still is giving me problems here so I had to go back to the Microsoft keyboard.  No big deal, I have grown used to it.

My sister was adopted.  She came into our family when she was 2 and I was 5.  She finally tracked down people who would have been her biological family.  She discovered who her biological mother was and discover she had passed She carefully worded a private message on Facebook to someone who was supposed to be a sister of that person and hoped for the best.  Thankfully for her, she has met and now has a relationship with an Aunt and Uncle two siblings.  There is no easy way to do it, i imagine.

Looks like RC is keep the internet price up.  We have been checking out our May cruise.  $15 each when ordering 4 devices. We have been getting 4 devices for $10.5 to $11.  We may go back to sharing a plan at $19. per day.

If you are diamond or D+, you can have one person use the discounts to reduce costs too.  Diamond is one 24 hour period each and D+ is two 24 hour periods each.  Day 1, you have cellular for a good part of the day, so no need really to use the coupon, just share the purchased plan if needed.  If day 2 is a sea day, use one of the coupons late morning to cover part of that day and morning the next.  If day 3 is a port day, don't waste a coupon until you are going to be on the ship.  You can easily spread things over multiple days that way.  You could also use one of the coupons toward a package for the remaining days of the cruise if you had a lot of sea days.

I have never had White Castle.  Even after a night of drinking, I never had the desire to try their food...I much preferred A&W burgers and fries.  We would drive up at A&W, and food was brought to our car, with a tray that hooked onto the driver's window.  Of course, their root beer float was to die for!😉

A&W was always a go to place from my high school days.  Would stop there after doing to the Drive-in movies.  That brings back some memories.

@dani negreanu Dani, I really enjoyed seeing those pictures of the carnival dress.  such elaborate costumes.

@bobmacliberty Bob, great pictures of your trip to Napa.  It looks like the weather cooperated for your pictures of the GG bridge.  I have crossed it many times where the top the the towers are shrouded in fog.

Happy to announce I showered and was able to wash my hair this morning.   Such a good feeling after having to skip 2 days due to mohs procedure on my scalp.  Which feels fine.   No pain whatsoever.

I'm pleased to hear your mohs surgery has been successful and you have no pain Debbie.

Graham.

@brillohead, good luck with your family roots search.

As someone who is “still” writing my family history book that I started during the pandemic, you never know what you will find, or how people will react.  Susan’s grandfather was in an orphanage, and we have ran into many obstacles trying to trace that line.  It didn’t help that the orphanage burned down, and records were lost.  We did find he had a short marriage and had a son, before he married Susan’s grandmother.  Reaching out to those descendants to see if they had any information, and they did not want to have any contact with Susan’s family, and would not provide any information.

Then, you run into the dilemma of how to write the history.  Some family members only want the whitewash version.  Don’t include my first husband, or in some cases, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  But, since it will only be published for my kids, to be eventually passed to our grandkids, I may do the non-whitewash version.

Sometimes, family trees have some ugly branches.
