Glad for you, it must be an awful sensation.

Thankfully, my taste and smell senses have started to return today.  So sorry yours have been gone so long.  Over 20 years ago Andy first experienced a distorted sense of smell, then lost taste and smell completely for about a year.  He found Dr. Henkin at the Taste and Smell Clinic in DC. and was evaluated and treated.  Andy eventually experienced a complete recovery.  I hope you do, too.

I am glad you are improving.  Just take it easy and don't try too do too much too quickly. 🙂

I am in the process of finding a new PCP as mine retired recently and was not too helpful with my issue anyway.  I lost my sense of smell and taste in the past too due to an allergic reaction to a medication and it took months to come back then too.  I have been dragging my feet because our insurance is also changing because the company my DH works for was just bought out and I don't want to find someone I like and then find out they don't take our insurance.  I need to make it a priority though as some days it is really frustrating.

We just got back from 2 weeks on Grandeur . Kind of a kinky little ship,  but we had fun.

One problem with this older ship is the lack of rest rooms for those with mobility devices,

Menus are standard RCI, no surprise there.

WE went because it was a casino comp, the price was right.  WE had an ocean view, but it was at the front of the ship, so we got to hear the bow thruster when we got into port.

If we were late sleepers that would be a problem,  but we aren't, so no problem.

Was able to have breakfast in Chops, which was nice.

One of our ports was Labadee, we had a cabana. Strange sight was the presence of armed police officers. First time I have seen that, and we have been there many times.

This means we have now sailed on every class of RCI ships. I didn't think I would like this class, but went with an open mind , and wouldn't mind doing it again, but only if I can have at least have an ocean view.

Anyone with seasickness issues might have a problem, it certainly moves around more than the larger ships, as to be expected.

Yep, I think you're pretty close to both of them...they both live just off the lake on Lake Dr.

Your wife probably knows a few of the Jackson Co. judges I went to school with.  I was in the same class as Pat Campbell, and a couple years behind Chip McKenzie and Dale Youngs.

Yes Linda knows all of them. She went to law school with Pat, She knew Chip when he worked at the prosecutor’s office when Linda was a law clerk for Judge Mauer. She has tried a few cases in Dale’s courtroom. Small world isn’t it?

Oh my goodness, crazy small!  I graduated in 90, so I probably passed her in the halls a few times...we probably have a lot more in common than just a few judicial acquaintances!   🙂   if they were there about the same time, she probably knows Pat McInerney and Mark Nasteff as well.

Linda graduated from UMKC law school in 1990. We are good friends with Pat McInerney and I’m real good friends with Michelle his ex wife.

Still poorly. Today is the 2nd time he has to stop taking a pain reliever, since it impacts his stomach.

We're quite at the end of our wits.

Oh, no.  When does he see his doctor again?  Very soon, I hope for his sake, as well as yours🙏

Isn't it great when you can get in early.  My DD just keeps getting appointments moved up for me.  My MRIs were scheduled at the end of April right before we will be taking off to Hawaii.   Now it will be the 1st week in April and the Neurologist will see me the following Monday!

I wish you all the best, John.  April will be here before you know it.

For those of you who have been following my DNA saga, the results are in!

(For those who haven't been following along, the TL;DR version is: I was placed for adoption at birth, found my birthmother in the 90s, and recently took an Ancestry .com DNA test to search for my birthfather.  Tracked down (deceased) grandparents, found a (possible) half-brother, did a sibling test that was "inconclusive", and just did a DNA test with the other possible father, Bill, one of three brothers born to the grandparents.)

Drumroll.....

So, R is my cousin instead of my half-brother.  He tried calling Bill, but got his voicemail.  (The ONE time he doesn't answer his phone, are you kidding me??? LOL)

I'm at peace now.  This was the best possible outcome.  Bill is still living, and is ready, willing, and able to accept me as his daughter.  And after over half a century of not knowing, I have a biological father.

Congratulations on this news.

Buon Viaggio! What is the itinerary?

Nothing exciting - just headed to port canaveral, nassau and cococay.    We have done this itinerary numerous times out of the Bayonne.    It's just nice to drive to port, board and sail away to the beautiful blue sea and hopefully blue sunny skies with warm weather.    Not asking too much😁

Thanks.

We're in a bit of "catch-22" here -- the blood tests so far are OK (my doctor friends say that the worst diagnosis for them is "unexplained", i.e. when everything is OK, but ... is not).

We're missing only one which tests the probability of multiple myeloma...

The orthopedist advised Monday to wait a week and see if there's no improvement, to do a "mapping of bones" test.

Our family doctor is, of course, on holiday until April 16th, and, bar an emergency, we can switch doctors only at the end of the month.

So sorry to hear he is still in pain and having to live with the unknown.   Pain always seem more manageable if you know the reason.   Sending both of you hugs and prays.💖

She was approached by her longtime good friend who is a very successful lawyer who's been trying to get Linda to work with him for years. He asked her to take over several labor cases and she agreed. That turned into writing briefs for some other attorneys and then she took mediation training so she can become a mediator. The money is too good to pass up and will enable us to cruise more often. She can set her own schedule. I think she likes being back in the game I told her to do it as long as she enjoys it. So we will see how long it lasts. The income will be really nice.

I am doing an onsite video editing gig next week. I'll see if my freelance editing can pick up. It's nice to keep in shape. I've been doing nothing for over a year. I was getting kind of bored.

You’ll be 🍍 before you know it!

Officially on vacation until Monday, April 3rd.     Woot Woot - I did the happy dance when I came from work today.

It was crazy busy finalizing work and setting up a new hire that will be in training next week.   Also had to deal with some drama from a previous employee sending nasty grams (texts) to various employees.     She quit to start a new job this week but apparently she has some issues.   People - never try to figure some of them out.

Here are a few pictures from my garage project. Before retiring, I was told that the first 6-12 months of retirement seem like vacation.  Eventually, you settle into retirement being your new life and take on new things to fill the time.  My "vacation time" lasted more than 2 years.  😁  I'm now taking on several projects to keep me busy between rounds of golf.

I installed cabinets along the back wall of our garage.  The counter top is temporary using some leftover melamine board from before we remodeled our master closet.  I'll eventually build a new counter top with a removable section in the middle where I'll add a flip up miter saw.

Today, I put a 16 foot by 4 foot slat wall on the left wall, and an 8 foot by 4 foot slatwall on the right wall.  Still need to get more hooks and get everything hung on the walls.  Once I get the permanent counter top in place, I'll add slatwall between the upper and lower cabinets, and around the breaker panel, for some tools.

I previously added six 4 foot lengths of LED lighting on the ceiling that lights up the garage like it's in full sun.  I love having that much brightness.

I'm still trying to decide if it's worth getting the floor done.  I don't do any work on cars, and we don't have any fancy collectible cars to display, so I'll probably just leave the floor as bare concrete.

Nice work in the garage, love the  driveway pavers. What's behind the strange looks to be extra high door on the left. I assume the one by the bags of salt on the right goes into the house.

When I first met DH his garage floor was carpeted because he didn’t want concrete dust to get on his Lamborghini.  That was the first time I’d ever seen a carpeted garage!
