I wonder what they did show at booking.  The only time I ever saw deck plans on NCL's website (before this week) was when I booked and saw the plan for the location of the room I was considering.  Although I picked an oddly shaped room not exactly knowing how it would be configured (it just showed the normal floor plan for my category - I'm in a corner M2).

I'm not sure where I posted it, because I brought it up before in a difference thread. They showed the rough deck plans, and these rooms had the balcony in the floorplans but they weren't consistent. Some had a small line to show how small the balc really is

Bigger question is if it is duty free or if you have to pay taxes on it (which in the US can be up to 50% of value of the gift)

The real game shows were recorded in California so they imposed the California taxes.  This one will be in international waters,  I don't see them imposing taxes on gifts.

But that raises an interesting question:  will those games be played everyday or just on sea days?  Usually, when a ship is in port,  Duty Free shops and casinos are closed.  In one of the video, they were talking about "afternoon games".  May be it will only be on seadays

Does anyone think deck 15 with Haven suites below deck 16 pool & sundeck bad design? Won’t there be noise?

We are boarding the ship in one month.  Let's wait and see.  I am sure that after the first 3 cruises, there will be full report on what's great and what's bad

These ones? If so, I would hope the Haven Sundeck above might be calmer/quieter than the main decks. But I imagine the early morning lounger moves might cause a problem...

Thank you. I have a 2bdrm Haven & we moved to deck 14 after looking at deck plans. We also don’t sail till next June. Enjoy your cruise. Looking forward to your review

I was being a bit tongue in cheek as the federal and/or state taxes in the US on prize winnings are so high.  There are multiple cases of prize winners having to sell or reject game show prize winnings as they cannot pay the tax.

That said I’d feel any prizes won would be for on-ship items like dining, spa, onboard credits, etc (which are tax free) or a “grand prize” of a free cruise maybe (which would be subject to federal and/or state tax).

No worries here in Germany. We don´t have any taxes on wins.

at the Hompage NCL have now 3.099 passengers at double occupancy for Prima and Viva,

in the past it was 3.250.

I think originally they miscalculated double occupancy somehow w/ some studio rooms being counted as doubles maybe?  Unless they reduced # of staterooms being made available to passengers to increase crew size/more single occupancy crew quarters?

I think those slide rooms are gonna cause a lot of problems for people in general. They should have been clear in the description that they're next to slides when they started selling them.

We booked a balcony 8 cabins away from the slides. I'm hoping that's far enough away not to hear the screams of people going down them. Sadly we won't really know until guest reviews start coming in.

I was also concerned about noise from the portside Deck 8 midship restaurants as we are on Deck 9 so we booked starboard.

@SakeDad Sadly it appears the problem with balconies and the Waterfront found on the away ships may have gotten worse with the wider Oceanwalk found on the Prima. Our first time on the BA we looked out the balcony miship on deck #9 and found the roof of Waterfront instead of water, we learned you need to go higher up to see mainly water.

We booked over the Concourse so I am hoping it's quieter. We only have 2 sea days so not too worried about the sea view. I usually like afts but was nervous about the Soliel Bar and Indulge areas being loud. We don't cruise until next July so I have plenty of time to change my mind on location once the guest reviews start coming in.

I would think the slides will be open during the day... when most people are out and about rather than in their cabins.

Some of us like to sleep in or enjoy quiet time on our balconies without hearing screams next to us every 5 minutes. Just saying. Will be very curious what the reviews say.

Guests: 3,215 ➡️ 3,099

Crew: 1,388 ➡️ 1,506

With the change, Norwegian Prima now offers more onboard space per guest and higher staffing levels than any other cruise ship in the contemporary/premium markets. 😊

I know they’ve been highlighting this from a corporate perspective as well, but it’ll be interesting to see if they can convey this well in marketing. The Prima class ships will seemingly have a very different experience than the rest of the NCL fleet.  (Almost like sailing on Celebrity instead of Royal.)

We booked December 30th cruise, balcony accessible, during our May 30 Alaska cruise at CruiseNext desk. We were shown a floor plan. Knew nothing about slide through our balcony. Because of after effects of chemo, I nap every day. Don't think putting slides outside accessible was very smart. They will obstruct views and be noisy

We are sailing in September and our balcony is only 3 away from the slides. I also enjoy the odd peacefully hour on the balcony and I am worried. My husband less so he thinks the metal tubes will contain the sound but as you said the first reviews will let’s us know.

metal tubes

are they metal?  Most slides are polycarbonate, FRP or fiberglass.  I realize they're dry slides, and that may make a difference, but if I recall we saw some clear sections (which would be polycarbonate) and you'd want similar expansion/contraction rates on the slide pieces.

Does anyone know what Royal used for the Abyss on the Oasis-class ships?  I think those are also dry slides.

This is the photo we had seen of the slides.
