More? What do you propose?

M

In negotiation, you always begin by asking for more than you expect to receive.

In this case, if you begin by settling on less, less is what you will get.

My honest hope is that benefits will be preserved as the are, with the exception of D+ being restored to the CL.

Things to think about: The number of new ships and total capacity (when things are back to normal); the missed points received from not cruising for months; the people that will not return to cruising; the point difference from D+ to P; Royal needs capital now and this is a brilliant plan to help with that. For me personally, I thought I would never have a chance to make it to P, but with double points for next year I think it's possible after 4 to 5 more years of sailings.

I just did a dummy booking on the RCI website using the double points promotion link and it gave me the balcony discount as well as my DP340 single rate, so I don’t think the above is correct.

The problem is you are reading old information.  There are no restrictions on the double points

Maybe with the upcoming surge of Pinnacles RCI should designate a specific lounge area so they can enjoy their benefits and friends.
This way they will be done with the suite/pinnacle lounge debate.
They earned their just cause by loyalty.  It should be recognized no matter how many on a sailing.

Stay healthy.

I’ve been suggesting this as well.

Ken,

Sorry for being late in the game...will double points be given to previously booked sailings for 2021?

Thanks, e.

D+ being restored to the CL.

The train is well past the station for this  The pain has already been felt. I would be suicidal to restore the D+ to CL.

It’s possible, some select ships/dates/itinerary might still have a CL and permit D+ but I believe the handwriting is on the wall.

Whilst I agree with your suggestion, loyalty should be recognized, (and I'm nowhere near a level that means anything), it isn't lost on me that the bigger and bigger they continue to build ships........ the fewer and fewer spots they include for loyalty recognition. The cynic in me thinks loyalty is not a big part of the overall business plan. It's also why as a relatively new cruiser we book for itinerary and cost primarily.. cruise line is a secondary factor.

We will see how things work out. Loyalty may take on a whole new importance with the cruise lines. And jamming more and more cabins into the ships might be less of a priority. There is no telling right now how people who have not cruised will view the industry in the future.

Wait until there are only one or two CL's left.  Then just maybe it will happen 😉

It was already happening before the Covid crash of cruising.  Without even changing the signage.  CL still there, but D+ kicked out.  Even on ships in that had very light populations of D+ and Pinnies.  I was there.

Once the only CL's left in the fleet are on Radiance class they can let D+ back in.  Few suites on Radiance class so it's not as big of an issue.

I would have made Diamond+ on the 2nd leg of my B2B next regardless of extra points. As a solo traveler, my goal is to get to 340. Will never reach P, and really have no desire to. I cruise on other lines, and there are still itineraries I would like to see, that Royal doesn’t do (South America).

I have a strong feeling, my B2B won’t go next Apr/May, since it’s Asia and TP to Seattle, so I may look at booking some Europe and TA, to get those extra points in 2021. Gosh, I sure wish there a ship on the Westcoast next year, but hopefully we will see one in 2022 with all the rumors going around.

Once Radiance finishes Alaska in September she needs to get over to Miami. There may a Pacific Coastal cruise in there somewhere.  Not a home port ship in CA but it's something.  Stay tuned.

All I know is that we have gotten cruise points for every Casino free cruise we have taken. We have 5 free booked for 2021 and I now expect double points for every one of them.

.....well....that is until they are all cancelled.
