Some have managed to cash out obc in the casino. I always make sure I use mine up plus some extra. 

 

The casino trick is the only way I know.

 

If the amt left is less than $10 it says they donate to charity.

If you want to use it for future cruises, go to the Cherry on Top store and buy a gift card.

Anyone experienced this scenario - I am sure there is?!

My five night cruise was cancelled and so I received $300 OBC on the next cruise I booked. The next cruise I booked was a six night cruise which has now been cancelled. Should I received $600 OBC as my current cancelled cruise was a six night cruise?

That is indeed how it worked for me.  The OBC from the cruise that was first cancelled was lost when the second cruise was cancelled and the third booking was made.  The OBC offered when the second cruise was cancelled was based on the length of the second cruise.

I see my Topic was moved, I thought this was addressed somewhere but could not find it so started new Topic.

Bury me at sea - that is how I thought it was to work but the Agent I got this aft insisted it was based on the very first cruise I had cancelled.

So I made another phone call to Carnival this evening and did get the $600 OBC rather than $300. The Agent initially said it was based on my original cancelled cruise (two booked cruises ago) but I read the letter I got from Carnival (as did everyone else) and it references the length of the most recent cancelled cruise, my January cancellation, and makes no reference to being based on a cancelled cruise prior to that. She then spoke to a Supervisor for me and it was taken care of.

I had my one and only CCL cruise cancelled.  I had a $500 refundable deposit on it and got the choice of a cash refund or rebooking with the $600 OBC.  I had until May, 2021 to decide.

 

I finally decided on a 14 night cruise in 2022 because there were very few left of the cabin I wanted.  Called my TA to book and she told me I had to put down another $800 as deposit and the original $500 would convert to FCC.  I was shocked.  I did read that others were able to transfer their deposits to new cruises.  I don't mind adding the $300 but now they will have $1300 of mine for two years.  I usually go with Princess using FCD or Norwegian using Cruise Next deposits.  Does CCL have a reduced future booking certificate?  I would hate to pay this large amount every time I book a new cruise.

The money we have put down on 'cancelled' cruises has always been moved to the new cruises we re-book. I have never heard of the original deposit being converted to FCC. Check with someone else if you can, does not sound correct.

So I had a June 2020 cruise canceled and opted for some FCC and to get the $600 OBC.  The original book by date to get the OBC use to be 12/31/20.  I see the newer cancelation get until 5/31/21 to decide on a new cruise and still get the OBC. Is that the new date for everyone or would I still be under the 12/31/20 deadline?

We had 2 cabins for the 4 of us on Conquest in January for a 4 day cruise.  We are thinking of booking a 6 day on Magic, but getting a suite instead of 2 cabins.  If we do that, we will lose one of the $300 OBC, correct?

 

Chances are we will just go ahead and do 2 cabins again, because I am pretty sure we would lose the $300 OBC.

Yes the obc is per cabin booked, based on the number of days of the cancelled cruise.

Can I use my OBC to order gifts before I get on the ship?  Because of the cancellations, I have a good amount of OBC.  I am wondering if I can use some of it the purchase items from the Fun Shops prior to the actual cruise?  Thank you all in advance.

No, carnival doesnt allow it to be used except onboard.

 

Some say they used it when they were boarding and within cell phone range of the ship.

We booked a cruise after our January cruise was cancelled but we forgot to use the link that they sent asking which method you preferred, future cruise credit or refund. So we went in and filled out that form saying we wanted future cruise credit. Do we need to do anything in order to apply the future cruise credit to the sailing that we just booked?

Get a new better ta. My ta was able to transfer everything. ..although I'm assuming the 14 day is 300 more for deposit, 800?  The 500 should be able to transfer, even if it is called a fcc, to new deposit, not a all new deposit. 

 

It does seem like carnival is all over the place without a rule in place as people have all different experiences.

We had our April Mardi Gras cruise cancelled. Called our PVP to rebook for Thanksgiving 2021 on the Mardi Gras. We had $400 on the April cruise $150 was from a cancellation from November to rebook I had to put another $100 down to make the $250 deposit and the rest would be applied to the balance . Didn't really make sense but that's what it was. I did receive the $600 OBC . Still waiting for all this to show on my booking. We also had received the free cheers offer but would of actually cost another $1,200 .

Could be previously you had booked a reduced deposit offer is why you had to now pay 100 to get to 500 deposit for 2 people.

No the deposit was only$250 I can't really figure it out. Our deposit on our April Mardi Gras cruise was $250 which was cancelled. The deposit for our November cruise was $150 which was cancelled. So Carnival had $400 but still wanted the $100.00 to book the new cruise. $250 seems to be in limbo. I booked the new cruise reduced deposit 2 for 1.

Can I apply the FCC to an already booked cruise (March 2022) and still receive the $600 OBC?  Pretty sure the answer is no but just curious.

Question: 1st cancellation out of NYC last April for June 2020 sail resulted in a new booking for this June, also cancelled. Because I didn’t want Carnival to be holding all the money, I requested a refund for the first cancelled cruise- less the amount needed to book the second one- $500. I was informed this $500 would essentially be recognized as a cancellation fee (we didn’t cancel, Carnival did), and the $500 was applied toward our new booking. However, it does not show as a deposit. It reduced the overall dollar amount of the cruise which was $3151.28. Then they needed a $50 cash deposit for whatever reason. So the ending balance owed was $2601.28. When you look at my booking- you can’t see where the cost was ever $3151.28- it instead shows as $2651.28 reduced to $2601.28 after a reflected $50 deposit. My question is what will happen to that $500? While it doesn’t reflect as such on the website, will they see it/understand it when I call?

You should be able to, we had a cruise canceled, but had another one booked, which was less than the original that was canceled, moved everything to that one, and received a refund on the credit card for the difference, and had the 600.00 obc added to the 400.00 we had on the already booked cruise, so ended up with 1000.00 obc, Check with carnival pvp.
