If I didn't get the casino "free cabin" offers for September and October cruises, I would tentatively agree with you.  Depends on the bargain.  Not going to pass up two birds in the bush just for one in the hand - er, wait a minute that's not the saying I was looking for...

If you are always looking for the best solution, you'll never get out of town.

I have two planned for this year, and three for next. I am out of pocket for $3K and have $5K obc, totaling 45 days afloat in balcony cabins. Who'd stay home?

My next cruise is scheduled to weigh anchor October 30th, and I am thinking all the government malarkey will be out of the way, and masks will only be allowed on Halloween, and those who cannot or have not had a jab or two should be respected for their decision to decline, but their opportunity to cruise will be limited to waving from the dock. This also can be waived when science (not politics) determines the danger is over.

I have had three cancelled cruises, so my current cruise was actually paid in full over a year ago.  I have free Cheers, $600 in OBC, a balcony cabin on the lido deck on a brand new ship, and am vaccinated.  If not for those reasons, I would have definitely waited until next year.

Wow how did you manage 5k obc. You need to give lessons.

I just want to cruise already. Tired of waiting. I got no patience.

Someone could conceivably rebook 5 cruises (5X$600=$3000) and four Jackpot cruises (4X$500=$2000).

I agree and me and my group of 33 is waiting. If we don't sail on August 7th, we will try next year. We have kids graduating from HS going off to college and some going back to college. If MG cancels it will be the second time for 13 of us.  We was given 25% off next sailing and $250 OBC the last cancellation. We are waiting for our $600 OBC and will put everything on our August 2022 sailing. I'm hearing we will certainly need it with the rising prices. I understand and I'm not complaining because I love to cruise.  I'm Platinum on Carnival, on my way on Royal, and a ways to go on Princess.  I'm waiting along with all of our August scheduled folks. In the mean time, several of us have our eye on Ocean City, Maryland. Less than 3 hour drive, beach, Johnson's popcorn, Thrasher's fries, Dumser's ice cream, Hooper's Seafood & Parasailing is the plan B and looking really good right now. 🙂

We're heading to OC in a couple of weeks. Never been, so we're reading up on things to do and good restaurants.

I thought the max OBC one could get for cancelled, rebooked, cancelled, rebooked, etc cruises was capped at a max of $600. I've had only 2 cruises cancelled(so far) and each time I received a $600 OBC incentive. And it remains at $600 after the 2nd cancelled cruise. I thought we exhausted this controversy and settled, that the max cap was $600....no matter how many cancellations and rebookings you have to suffer through. Am I missing something?

Yeah, someone could have had five (5) different cruises cancelled. They get $600 OBC for rebooking each cruise. They would already have $500 OBC for each of the four (4) Jackpot cruises.

you're talking about rebooking the same cruise repeatedly; somebody else could have five (5) cruises booked. Clear enough?

We've said that when it became apparent to us last May 2020 that COVID 19 was going to be around for a while.

The best solution for cruising will vary for everyone, and whatever works for them, even if it doesn't work for others, will be "best".  No right or wrong here.  One man gathers what another man spills........
