Changed my cabin

Yup, there are have been several reports of this happening on other ships too.    Seems like they are spacing out the cabins to every other cabin for balconies.    guess this gives social distancing on balconies ??

I would be really upset losing a hump balcony too!

The fact they notified you are being changed to another cabin but not tell you where is not right.    I would call on that,

Especially since they just had a reduced pricing in the last 2 weeks for Oasis and some other ships sailings this fall where solo cruising prices were better than booking a cabin for 2 (this helps their crew get tips).

Sucks. But as said happening on other Cruise Lines also. Had B7B on Royal Booked all in same Corner/Aft Cabin taken away myself this Oct-Dec...

What does Royal think is going on out on the balconies? There is a divider between them and the very rare time I might have said anything to the person next door (if we happened to be looking over the railing at the same time) we were not very close to each other.

We've very rarely even known there were people next door to us until the last night when we would see luggage out.

There have been several reports of this happening lately and not to the satisfaction of the people affected. In one case someone even had their handicap cabin taken away from them!

Ever since it was first reported I have been checking our rooms for our upcoming Harmony sailing daily so that if I notice a change I can get my TA on it ASAP.

I don't know of any spacing requirements. We have been on two Royal cruises had had people on either side of us on both cruises.

We’re currently on Harmony in an Ocean View Balcony cabin. Definitely have neighbours at least one side of us.

Our entire group, (5 cabins) on August 15 Allure were moved from interior cabins via similar emails. We had booked interior due to staying in a block at a price everyone could afford.. We were all reassigned ocean view balconies in the same area. Bargain of the year. So wait to see what you get. We did walk to the area of our original cabin and it did look like maybe they closed off that area that sailing. With such reduced numbers it makes sense that they might need to relocate cabins. Cruise was great in all aspects!

Interesting perspective. So instead of distancing people maybe they are grouping them together.

I hope they don’t mess with those who booked B2B in the same cabin. That would be frustrating.

Feeling the same way. We have the same connecting rooms for our opcoming B2B - hubby and myself in one, our under 18 kids in the other. If that gets changed it will be a mess.

I would wait to see what the cabin assignment is. If it isn’t acceptable, I would contact the Crown and Anchor desk for assistance.  Hope you get an upgrade, midship! 🙂

This.  You might get lucky. Someone posted on another group that they did the same thing to them on Oasis. They were moved up to a Crown Loft Suite.

Wow, that's crazy. Don't understand why they just wouldn't a)only sell cabins properly spaced if it is for 'CDC spaci' or b) only sell cabins grouped together if it is for crew purposes to start with. We're on the Oasis Dec 12 with a 11th deck hump OVB & a CPB with the extra.lg balcony right down the hall.

Just got the same email for our 10/03/21 Allure cruise. Paid extra for a "Hump" larger balcony right smack in the middle. Very disappointed, but will wait to see where they move us too. I tried a mock booking and there were zero of my category cabins left, so maybe an upgrade. Anyway, we're a high D+ but I really don't think that has anything to do with the move nor will it help us. Oh well. Wait & see.

Ps.....got off the Mariner a week and a half ago and had an Aft JS. No one within two cabins of us. It was sweet!!

This has been happening and I have only read once where they were slightly unhappy with the room. Op should wait and see where they land. Since many bookings are often open a year or 2 in advance, I can see why this might happen. It sucks but it may be necessary.

I do wonder how they choose who to moe though...maybe booking date? The later the more chance of getting moved?

I'm cruising solo and have the extended balcony on-the-hump stateroom, so anything other than that would be a downgrade in what I purchased. And I really don't think they'd move a solo to a suite. Here's hoping I don't get that email for my December sailing.

Hard to tell on moving date since all of our upcoming cruises kept getting cancelled in 2020. We kept moving the dates but keeping the same reservation numbers. I'm guessing it might have something to do with what cabins are booked in that area and which ones would be easier to move without going through a bunch of trouble. I'm guessing they don't even look at status, cost, booking date etc etc. I think we were moved cause there's folks on either side and it was just easier to move us. Honestly, as long as we get something comparable, I'm good.

On Allure October 10th sailing and received an email yesterday about the social distancing and we were to be changed to another "like" cabin even though we were the last cabin on the 12th deck before the aft suite on the Boardwalk.

Today we received an email we have been assigned to deck 8 and 11 cabins away from the very end.  This is not in my opinion a  "like" cabin since we were at the very end and up high.  Now we are low and near the merry go round.  Not happy at all.  Their meaning of "like" is another Boardwalk cabin and not considering the view at all.

We got the same email for our oct 10th harmony sailing. We paid the extra price to pick our room, a room next to my parents who are going on this cruise as well and wanted to be roomed next door. We called royal and were told this is per the cdc and was basically told to pound sand and that they weren't going to attempt to keep us next to each other or refund the extra cost we paid to select our own rooms. The customer service "manager" was extremely rude and you could tell that she was working from home due to the screaming kid in the background.

On top of that, we got an email last week saying that due to new embarkation procedures they were canceling the key program that we booked over a year ago. That meant that we would no longer have an internet package and the prices of the internet packages now are almost the same price I paid for the whole key program. Called royal for that and again got the yes we canceled the key and too bad that the internet prices are now higher in cost.

Go shopping and look at HAL and Princess.  Also, NCL is have an all inclusive promo right now, and has the Epic leaving on 10/10 from Barcelona, with what I consider to be a better itinerary.  Try for cabins across the hallway instead of next door.

We got the exact same cabin, but instead of deck 6 they moved us to deck 9. We like being closer to the casino and restaurants so I might have to call. I'll leave it up to the boss. 😉

Not sure what your cabin WAS, but there is 1 2C available on a hump, 8202.   At least it would be a deck lower, if that helps

Sailing on oasis in October and just received an email saying due to spacing they have taken our cabin away and will replace it when they find a place for us. This cruise is getting more stressful each day. I picked that cabin out  quite awhile ago, to be mid ship and it was the one with the bigger balcony. Anyone else have this happen? Don’t know if being diamond will help any.

I'm sailing on the Oasis Sept 26 & Oct 3.  I've had my cabin for the B2B booked since 2019.  I received the same email and they moved me the first week from deck 8 to deck 11.  Now, I have to pack up my suitcase with everything except the hanging clothes and move to my original cabin the second week.  If the spacing isn't good the first week, why is it good for the second????

Not a happy camper.
