I am sometimes confused how we use acronyms to describe relationships here on CC.  For example, is DS a dear sister or dear son?

Not sure what BFF means - best female friend?  I assume that somewhere on CC there is a listing of these.  Can someone point me to it?  Thanks.

@Heartgroveprayers for your brother.

We went to ISP once.  It was so cold, we went into the sales barn, then turned around and stayed by the fire for a bit then back to the ship.  Didn't walk anywhere.  We were dressed for the weather but the chill went right through.  The only photo's I have are of the eagles at the dock land the red building.

Ray, In the case of DS we can mean either son or sister, so I like to use the full term when referencing either of those people.  After you do that one time, you can continue the sentence(s) or paragraph with DS.  That also includes DSIL which can be either son-in-law or sister-in-law.

BFF is a term used for Best Friend Forever.  Hope this helps!

I have been to Icy Strait Point once.  I thought it was awesome.  For future visitors I strongly recommend the bear search excursion.  A 30-minute bus ride with a charming local narrator, a hike into the woods (with an armed escort), several viewing spots along a river where you hope to see a bear (or, maybe, more than one) and then the bus ride back to town.

We had to get to the last viewing point to see a bear.  Apologies for the inadequate photography.

Wounldn't you know it.  On the bus ride back to Hoonah we crossed over another river, and there was another bear.  Pic from the bus.

As I said, we have only been there once.  We did promise each other that when we get back there, we are going to have lunch at the Fisherman's Daughter, a picture of which is included in @Quartzsite Cruiser's post #40 above.

Here is what I posted for Icy Strait Point on October 31, 2021.

Icy Strait Point was a late stop in September. It got dark about 30 minutes after arrival. The rain was heavy the whole time we were there. I took a short walk on the beach trail and up into the woods and then looped back toward the ship. This would be a beautiful place to spend more time during the daylight hours.

Only two photos sent so far.  The first was immediately after Sadie was handed to her new Mom and wrapped in a beach towel to make her feel more secure.  DD said Sadie was terrified and shaking like a leaf.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIqX0zz3_9V0BQNVdLRMCsKVZV51t4MhjbEwRNyGscOgg?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1653155333

Those eyes look scared to me, poor thing!

But before long she was snuggled up on her new Mom with her head on her shoulder. 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLHNtPAkjFug2E2xIxww_eGldMTLfbtJ__wYVBQ_4iTow?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1653155334

DD seems to be wearing her like a scarf.

I hope to get some better photos later on.

While gardening this week I've been noticing more bird activity and even dive bombing me as I work.  Knowing they must be building a nest, but I couldn't figure out where.  Then as I was checking my hanging baskets of Fuchsias, the dive bombing and screaming at me got worse.

Alfred Hitchcock must have been a gardener.

@dfish  Ever notice how nice it is to lean a bit on the shopping cart?   The back doesn't ache quite as much?   Yes, shopping carts are walkers for those of us in denial.

Have you been spying on me?

No just speaking from experience.  LOL

I am trying to walk more to get in shape for my Norway cruise.  If that cruise had sailed in 2020, I would have been able to do the hikes I wanted to do, but my back has deteriorated so much that I won't attempt it now.  It is a hard reality to come to terms with.  I'm still drawn to the more active excursions and have to stop myself.  I was hoping I could work into walking for an hour or so without the cane, but that isn't happening.  I can do 30-45 minutes straight with the cane.  I guess I should be thankful for small favors.

Here are just a few pictures of Hoonah.  We usually take the bus into town and walk around for a while.

Sadie looked frightened but cute.

Sadie soon got comfortable with your lovely daughter.

@StLouisCruisers Oh, Sadie is so cute (okay, your daughter is nice looking too, but I'm only interested in the puppy ... 😁)

    Thanks for the pictures.

Thank you Melanie.  Today it's all about the puppy, right?

Here is a photo of her once they got home.  They have only been in the kitchen so far.  I asked if Sadie was afraid of her new surroundings because it is a very large 3 story house, and that's when she said they'd only played in the kitchen so far.

So all that excitement of a three hour car ride and playing in the kitchen, means it's time for a nap in her crate.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKbCnohte7xvPqlLeC5oD5hV7ntXQOewWgszVPDOQPWWw?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1653159826

It looks like she's right at home already.  At least I hope so.

I should absolutely do memos, especially when reading The Daily as I wish to remember & thank those by their names for their posts; the prayer needs, the ‘onboard & at sea’ posters, the jokes, the beautiful pictures, the sermons, and sympathy for the losses of our families and friends. Thank you all.

@StLouisCruisers Crate training is the best.  It looks like she's settled in to her own little house.

DD bought that nice thick crate cover for her so she would have a dark, snug place to sleep.  She seems happy there.
