Princessfan20 Posted September 12, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2022 29 minutes ago, melk said: Are you permitted in the dining room wearing a neat pair of shorts? Melk So many factors involved in this. Even though Princess has a "suggested dress code" we have seen many times passengers in the MRD's with shorts and other prohibited dress too. You just never know based on the ship, crew and itinerary.

Melk If you read the online information from Princess the answer will be no. They have yet to change their publicized info. If you rely on the experiences of many cruisers who have been on the different ships, then yes, they are being allowed on casual evenings. The dress code on Princess has been relaxed since the return from Covid. Specifically on the Enchanted in the Caribbean last March/April there were many guys at dinner wearing them without any problem in all the DR's. On formal evenings even a pair of jeans with a Polo were acceptable.
Thrak Posted September 12, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2022 I must take the "wrong" cruises because neither my wife nor I have ever seen shorts in MDR at dinner. We have seen someone turned away at the door for wearing shorts. I feel that if Princess wants to set guidelines they should then follow through and enforce those guidelines. Leaving it as a hit or miss proposition is unfair to their passengers who deserve to know what is and what is not permitted. The wishy-washy way they handle things is appalling. Either enforce the suggested dress code or drop it altogether. 15

The dining room/rooms were so cold that my husband only wore his one time & switched back to his jeans. Next cruise I'll be bringing my sweat shirt.
john watson Posted September 12, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 12, 2022 Not being allowed to wear shorts would be good news for traditional Scottish gentlemen and of course Commandos. Suits them down to the ground. Regards John 1
cruisecrazy82 Posted September 12, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 12, 2022 I would be curious about this for women. I have several pairs of very nice dress shorts that I wear to dinner many places with no issue. I dress them up even further with pretty tops and heels. Why would this be so frowned upon? Women can pretty much wear whatever they want wherever they want. We’re lucky that way. As long as your shorts cover your assets, nobody will even notice. I will say that the MDRs are so cold, I can’t imagine having that much bare leg. If that’s not an issue for you, then go for it.

Definitely all assets are covered lol! I’ve never been a fan of booty shorts personally, these are more tailored dress shorts. Thanks for the info!

arizonaperson Posted September 12, 2022 #17 Share Posted September 12, 2022 8 hours ago, melk said: Are you permitted in the dining room wearing a neat pair of shorts? Melk Yes you may wear shorts in the dining room for breakfast and lunch. Probably not for dinner,but..... probably definitely exceptions to that. Probably can get away with it on the first night of the cruise in case your luggage didn’t make it to your room or perhaps the second night if your luggage never made it to your room. Maybe the last night of the cruise you might be able to get away with it. So pretty subjective at dinner if you can wear them or cannot wear them. If you would like to wear shorts in the dining room at dinner -try it and report back to us ,so we can see what your experience is. But shorts in the dining room at dinner are not supposed to be allowed. And probably this thread needs to be closed by the moderators .I think the question has pretty much been answered for the author/op and any popcorn jokes and drink jokes to the OP is just rude .

Essex Racer Posted September 13, 2022 #22 Share Posted September 13, 2022 Tailored shorts for men in the evening around the ship is just wrong. I cannot believe those wearing do not feel out of place, given the majority of passengers are looking their best in long trousers!!

The dress codes for women have been ignored on Princess as long as I can remember. Maybe that's why their now turning a blind eye towards the men also. Not the specialty restaurants, the casino, the buffet or any other public venue. Very few men are dressed up walking around the ship after dinner, even on formal nights.
