So, he tested positive for Covid. After that their gonna set up an appointment for bloodwork to have a baseline for disease that can be caught from what happened. Apparently, like we thought you can catch things from his exposure. I was worried on the ship, but now it’s a wait and worry more about his health that we’re home. And not one person on that ship took it seriously.

Hope he recovers quickly!

Cruise from hell!

Hope a mild case..and you do not get it.

In some cities they test municipal  poop for Covid..oh my!

We were sick right after ASCENT.  really bad muscular pain..not Covid, maybe flu but we had the vax. .Then some on that ship  had suspected Legionaires...Ships are germ incubators..like kiddie daycare!

Hope all goes well!

No, I haven’t. Honestly, I wasn’t going to say much about the ship because I didn’t want to sound like a complainer, but it was dirty. I just found out. Covid I can handle, I just hope the rest of the tests are negative. Thats what I was worried about when it happened.

I can honestly say I have never, ever, seen a dirty Celebrity ship….

My brother & sister in law were on the same sailing they thought the ship was beautiful and commented on the ship was kept so clean with "cleaning people everywhere we turned".  They are not the most experienced cruisers, this was only their 4th cruise.  Was it you cabin that was dirty or did you find the public areas unclean?

This is our experience…

OP my sincere condolences go to you for the unfortunate experience your husband had and now covid but I don’t understand your ‘I just found out’ sentence….

It’s not Covid that I’m worried about. I didn’t think of that when his face was sprayed. It’s other things that concerned me.  I didn’t mention anything about the ship needing cleaning originally because I knew it would start a couple of people saying the opposite. We’ve been on 20 + cruises and only a couple needed a good cleaning or going over. No ship is perfect but the Silhouette needs some work. Especially when your toilet erupts black sewage/feces everywhere. And they would not let us move rooms. They said they cleaned it. In all of about 5 min.  There’s no way it was properly sanitized. Just my opinion. We cruised Celebrity back when it truly was a step above other mass market lines. It’s not anymore, but we knew that going in. Also, if you go on a new ship it’s generally a better experience overall. After this I don’t know if we’ll go in any ship again. Just praying all future tests are ok. That’s all that matters to me.

I know you aren't relating Covid to the sewage experience.  It's just a fact of life that chances are pretty good of coming home after a cruise with covid.  Much like it used to be the dreaded cruise cough (which is another upper respiratory virus).  Unfortunately people experiencing symptoms on vacation don't care and continue to mingle with the masses.  "It's my vacation".

You are correct. I wasn’t.

I read about your situation Monday.  You've been on my mind and heart.  I do hope his Covid symptoms are mild and that you are not sick.

I've seen other accidents happen in other tourist places.  I remember a man fell off of the back of a horse drawn carriage, and the driver helped pull him up but made no comment.  I think employees are told to not admit fault by saying nothing.  It's a legal thing.

Everything you've wanted from the cruise line seems reasonable to me.

I'm sure you are glad to be back in TN.  I'm in the Chattanooga area.

We’re currently on the Silhouette and have had the worst experience of all the cruises we’ve been on. Yesterday, while getting ready for dinner, my husband was in the bathroom when he heard the toilet making a terrible rumbling sound. He looked to see what was happening, you know how small the bathrooms are? When he did his face and shirt got sprayed with black sewage.it was literally everywhere.

Black sewage/chemicals/feces was all over the bathroom and him. He’s trying to wash it out of his eyes/face, I call and they say they’re having a sewage problem, which doesn’t help me. I open the door and find our attendant. He says there’s been a line break. Another lady shows up and I tell her what happened, panicking. I tell them he needs an eye wash etc because there’s obviously bacteria and disease. All the time their acting like it’s no big deal.

I called home and talked to someone what to do. They said to have them do an eye wash, give oral antibiotics and go to his dr when he gets back. We go to the medical center, he’s panicking, they hook him up to oxygen and do the eye wash. The put little plastic suction like cups on your eyes and wash them with a bag of solution.

Long story semi short, it was handled terrible. I was promised a medical report from a dr this morning. They called and said it will be today or tomorrow. I went to guest relations, and spoke with Abraham, There were several people there complaining because their toilets had been not working since 2pm. He talked to me like I was just some dumb woman and ended up walking off from me. There was another lady listening and she tried to help me and he walked off from her too. And the worst part, not one person told my husband they were sorry this happened.

I’m not asking for compensation, and it surely wasn’t offered, I just want the documentation of what happened so I can take it to his dr when we get home because he’ll need it for future blood work etc when we get home to make sure he didn’t contract something.

Do not go on this ship. If something happened they don’t care.

This happened to us years ago on a different Celebrity ship.  Although we didn’t get compensation, they moved us immediately to another cabin and were very apologetic.  Thank goodness we never got sick.  So sorry to hear it was spewed in your husbands face and eyes.  I hope problems are settled by May as we are going on her.

Time to call Morgan & Morgan!  You need an attorney.  Seriously.

Actually, there are attorneys that specialize in cruise ship litigation. I would definitely begin an internet search.

That doesn’t seem like much to ask. There are always extra rooms that are not filled for just this kind of purpose. I’m sorry this happened to you and that there are people here giving you a hard time.

We were in a balcony room and I told him I didn’t care if it was an inside room. He said no. That room we were forced to stay in was not sanitary.

We just retired from a 10 day cruise ( March 11-21 ) on the Silhouette--- absolutely perfect cruise --- nothing, zero to complain about. The food, service, cleanliness , entertainment, all very good.

As a matter of fact ,there were 800+Abraham Hicks followers onboard.

( Made it very easy to get a seat in the Solarium pool while they were attending Seminars )

As on all cruises rumors are bound to circulate :

Here's our example---

" Ya hear that there are lots of " Swingers " on board ? A guy was talking to another guy whose wife overheard two other passengers who said they thought someone 3 lounge chair over said, etc, etc ----- so, it's gotta be true (LOL).

( maybe that's why they served pineapple upside down cake in the OVC )??

LOL--- Don't even ask !!  NO, I can't confirm !!!

Abraham. The person I dealt with about the situation in my original post

I would have gone to the Hotel Director.  If Guest Services wouldn't connect you with him in the future try working through the Captains Club rep or just look for  the the HD.  They are often seen walking around the ship.  Pictures of the Senior Officers are on the TV under ship information so pretty easy to spot them.

I should have but I didn’t know what to do. He said I had to go through him.

I am so sorry for what you and your husband had to go through on your cruise.  I can't believe your room wasn't changed after that horrible unsanitary experience.  I do hope your husband is okay.

On Silhouette beginning March11.    I posted comments earlier but wish to add that the ship was wiped clean but not scrubbed!   Our balcony was only cleaned once.   Our toilet stool always had a black ring around water edge…even though it had been freshly cleaned by  steward.  When glanced from across the room, closet and exterior door.   Carpet stain by trash can in main cabin.

Attendant had to do 19 rooms each day.   Not enough time to wipe down let alone freshen linens, check bathroom, remake bed.    Celebrity needs a “ detail team” to go thru the ship once in a while.
we opted for this ship as it had gone thru a recent refurbishment.  But that must mean new carpet and tv and LED lights but not a lot more in cabins.
