seagarsmoker Posted March 15 #5 Share Posted March 15 Good morning Dailyites and thank you for the Daily Report. Yucky morning here. The temperature is fine at 63, however, we have a mix of pollen and smoke from the Texas fires. This afternoon it is supposed to be 80 degrees. I hope everyone here has a wonderful weekend! 30

Rare MISTER 67 Posted March 15 #7 Share Posted March 15 (edited) Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 67 right now with a high of 86 with a light breeze, excellent day for golf. Some silly days but I like the quote. I might try the sweet potato casserole. After the Masters, my favorite Golf Tournament is The Players which is played annually at the TPC at Sawgrass up in Ponte Vedra Beach which started yesterday, first round leaders at 7 under par are Xander Schauffle, Rory McIlroy and Wyndham Clark. Number one player in the World Scottie Scheffler is -5 but I wish the guy would acknowledge the fans once in while with a tip of his cap, he has the personality of a ping pong ball, just saying. Have a great day and stay well. Edited March 15 by MISTER 67 29 1

Rare puppycanducruise Posted March 15 #10 Share Posted March 15 Good morning. Happy Friday! Beware the Ides of March.😉 It's a cool day today, we had rain overnight but I think it's over until tomorrow. We're getting a new garage door opener installed today and quotes on getting a couple of windows replaced. It's always something. Interesting days. I like the quote. I'll pass on the meal, not sure about the drink but I know I like the wine. I've never been to today's port, maybe someday. Prayers for our world. Have a great day. Stay safe. 24

Rare Crazy For Cats Posted March 15 #12 Share Posted March 15 Good Morning, thanks for today’s daily fleet report. We had a very early wake up call this morning. Our section of town lost power at 2:10 which then tripped the CO2 alarms. Didn’t get back to sleep after that. We cleared the issue with our tickets. It was a JetBlue issue and not an end user problem like they said yesterday. There is a system glitch and if your departure time changes the system can’t see your ticket, it needs manual intervention. Time for more coffee. I hope everyone has a good day today.
StLouisCruisers Posted March 15 #13 Share Posted March 15 Good morning friends! It's 58F here this morning with cloudy skies. Rain and a high of 73 is expected today. DH says the pollen is coming and he noticed it all over the mailbox yesterday. In a further update on my arm, this morning the size of the red area is smaller and the redness is fading to a lighter shade. It's still painful to the touch. Taking a Benadryl yesterday noon and again before bed has me dragging around this morning. I see a nap in my future! The doctor didn't suggest a shingles shot for DH so I'm surprised we didn't get our last ones at the same time. Thanks to Jacqui @kazu and Roy @rafinmd for posting our Fleet Report and Daily as well as the fleet location maps for Rich @richwmn. Happy Ides of March! Sort of frivolous days to recognize today IMO. The quote is good, and as for the meal I'm not so sure I'd want it without a ham or something. Don't know what an Enzoni is and no thanks to the Chianti. All three good days in history. It makes sense now why the Cincinnati Reds are called what they are. Thanks to Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for your reports today. Prayers said for all here on the Care list and even those who are not on the list but in need of prayers. Also to those at war in Israel and Ukraine, the poor hostages still being held, and the military members in harm's way in the region. Special prayers for my DB, great nephew Alex's twin babies and friends Scott and Susan. 🙏 DGD says she feels sooo much better at her new apartment and just finished putting together a table with two bar stools to put in front of some windows with a nice view of the lake. 🥰 Cheers to all celebrating happy events and cruising! 🥂🎉 Bon Voyage Katherine @Lady Hudson!! 🚢 Thanks to you Vanessa @JazzyV for the updated lists each day! Hope you have a great Friday and super weekend. The port today is beautiful Trondheim, Norway. This was the port before on Feb. 20, 2022 and March 2, 2023. I'll post the links for you, and my photos next. Thanks in advance for any photos you can share. Hoping we all have a great day! Keep safe and stay well! 23
StLouisCruisers Posted March 15 #14 Share Posted March 15 Trondheim, Norway We went to Trondheim in 2016 on the Best Norway Cruise Ever on Prinsendam, and then againin 2022 on our Island Princess (Covid) cruise. I was out of Covid jail, but DH was still in so I walked around there on my own. I'll show my photos from 2016. On July 1, 2016 the Prinsendam arrived in Trondheim, Norway. It was also Canada Day so later that evening we had a great celebration at our dinner table, since our 4 tablemates were from Canada. Three days later we all 6 celebrated July 4th Independence Day. Here are some arrival photos. On our left as we entered the harbor was the Munkholmen, an ancient fortress island. Look who was on the bridge wing. Captain D.D. We departed the ship and walked towards the the famous Nidaros Cathedral. But we had lots to see before we arrived there. I love the fact the Norwegians aren't afraid of using color on their buildings. On the way to the Cathedral we passed the Church of Our Lady, St. Mary's, built at nearly the same time as Nidaros Cathedral. Oh my, we passed by lots of interesting places on our way to the Cathedral. Parks, squares, shopping malls, statues, murals on walls. We finally arrived at the Nidaros Cathedral but for some reason I couldn't get a level photo of the front of it. All of them seemed to tilt! I tried over and over. That was the best I guess. This Cathedral was built in 1070 and is the largest one in northern Europe. Pretty impressive from the outside. I wondered if they gave tours of the inside so went into the visitor center across from it to see. There were very long lines but when I saw the very expensive ticket price I decided to pass on waiting for a tour. We had lots of other places to see in Trondheim, too. It was massive so we walked all the way around but could never get a photo of the whole thing in one shot. This will have to do! I have about 3 dozen photos but did see this one finally as we left the property. You can see a lot of it here, except where the one tree in the middle is blocking the view. There are so many photos of Trondheim I will post now and begin another post to finish them up. 20
StLouisCruisers Posted March 15 #15 Share Posted March 15 After we left the Cathedral we walked to the Gamle Bybro bridge, called the Old Town Bridge. It's become the symbol of Trondheim and connects the two banks of the river Nidelven. It was first built in 1681. Continuing on We were headed uphill towards the Kristiansten Fortress built in 1685. Very steep climb. On the hill along the curb was a bicycle lift. You put your right food on a triangular shaped metal pad that rises up the hill as you sit on your bike and it does all the work. Here's a pic of someone using it. Anyway we got up to the Fortress and walked around quite a bit there. Lots to see inside. At the bottom of the hill we enjoyed seeing the little shops and restaurants as we headed back to the ship. Back to the lovely Prinsendam I hope you get to Trondheim someday, too. 24

AncientWanderer Posted March 15 #21 Share Posted March 15 Good morning and thank you for the Fleet Report. Along with our collection of days, it's also World Sleep Day, which I'll need later on as I'm up so early here (4:30 a.m.) Can't sleep because we got the email last evening at 30 days that six of our port days in Japan are switched around, so all plans for those ports have evaporated. Seems to be a common scenario these days. Of course, over dinner DH and I were talking about what a great cruise we had planned, with all ducks in a row. Forgot to knock on wood. I have a quiet but very nice day planned today -- a date with DGD to come over for lunch and to see my collection of Disney pins. Thanks everyone for all the contributions to the Fleet Report and Daily. Have a great day, everyone. ❤️

Rare Nickelpenny Posted March 15 #23 Share Posted March 15 Good morning to all and thanks for the daily and fleet report. Beware the Ides of March! Sometimes I think everything I thought was right was wrong! And last night I was dumbstruck (more about that in a minute). I like the quote, pass on the food and drink and never been to the port. Ah, history! Yesterday was dressy night and I had a reservation for Canaletto. But the MDR menu had surf and turf so I thought I would go there instead. Was able to change Canaletto to this evening and plans were set. They had a “Cake for Sake” event with lovely desserts for the taking in the Lido at lunch. I didn’t partake but they looked delicious. And after the invasion of towel animals in the morning and then a group photo I relaxed with everyone. I usually don’t go to the casino- I think I have gone one other time on a cruise- but a few of us went down to play before getting ready for dinner. Here’s where I was dumbstruck! I hit a big jackpot!! Of course I started to cry as I couldn’t believe it and kept repeating OMG, OMG, OMG! What a way to end a cruise! Consequently I never made it to dinner as I celebrated the night away!!😁 Thoughts for those on the care list and cheers to all! Have a great day everyone!! 34 4
Rare Denise T Posted March 15 #24 Share Posted March 15 Happy Friday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Sunny and warm here today. Yesterday it was beautiful with highs in the 70s. Sat outside for a bit with Fancy and did some work. Today it is off to the dentist for a routine cleaning. Then later this afternoon I have a meeting and I will then run out and get Chase from the vet. Fiona is back to her normal self of being the queen diva in the house. A most stressful week to say the least. Bon voyage to @Lady Hudson. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
dfish Posted March 15 #25 Share Posted March 15 (edited) Good morning, everyone! @Nickelpenny Congratulations on the casino win! @marshhawk I hope Chuck is feeling better today. @Lady Hudson Bon Voyage! @Crazy For Cats Glad the Jet Blue thing got worked out, but you are going to be dragging later on! @Denise T I'm glad Fiona has perked up and hope Chase does well after surgery. We have a beautiful day promised here in mid-Michigan with a high of 54 and mostly sunny skies. Sue is scheduled to give blood this morning and I'm going to water fitness. DB Bill is supposed to supply dinner tonight so it will either be Little Ceasars pizza or KFC. Kind of yuck on both accounts, but we'll survive. Let's hope the dice are good to me tonight in Farkle. The meal today is more of a side dish and a recipe to tuck away for next Thanksgiving or Christmas. It claims to be diabetic friendly, but has a lot of sugar in it and I would probably skip it for something else. https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/260751/slow-cooker-sweet-potato-casserole-with-marshmallows/ This next one has directions to make it more savory than sweet. So, if you are watching carbs or sugar, you might want to check it out. https://www.thecookierookie.com/crockpot-sweet-potato-casserole/ Just two for today as they are all the same. Wishing you all a wonderful day! Edited March 15 by dfish 17
