I have not been on a Freedom class ship but I have been on the Oasis of the seas. I used the hot tubs and the flow riders. The pools were silly small.

Carnival recently announced that the aft pool areas are now family friendly and are no longer designated for adults only. What is your opinion?

As a couple in our 60s we enjoyed the adults only pools. With no kids and teens splashing and yelling ( having fun) I believe that the kids would prefer that we werent in their pools. They deserve there plash to splash and have a good time as much as we deserve a place to do laps, etc without getting in each others way.

Where is the kid only pool? I've never seen one. If adults get their own pool then kids should too. What? The main pool is to be SHARED by adults and kids! Well to make it fair all pools should be for everyone.

Mybe carnival did a lot of research and concluded that majority of its passengers are familys. People with kids also drink a lot and visit the casino. If the majority of the passengers are families then it would stand to reason that they want to have fun at the same time as their kids. I like the set up on the Pride, they had an adult area. If course I never went there because I have kids. I wonder how populated the adult area is on the PRIDE? Maybe they realize that it is not used a lot?

Gotta say this is a very disappointing move on the part of Carnival. I've really enjoyed hanging out in the aft pool area on Conquest, Liberty and Freedom, especially in the evening, without all the kids underfoot. We've even booked aft cabins with that pool area in mind.

My next cruise is on Vista and we'll be able to use the Havana pool in the evenings, but after that, much of the luster of a Conquest-class booking will be gone....at least for me.

Nope, don't care. There are other places for adults on the ship. For a family cruise line they don't have nearly enough for kids to do and they get bored. Bored kids are obnoxious kids. Keep the little hellions busy and everybody is happy.

I'd much rather Carnival return to tablecloths in the MDR than worry about who's swimming where. ;)

Tor, I have to disagree with your alcohol and casino argument....You think a mom or dad with kids on board will gamble and/or drink as much as a couple with no kids on board....no way....I would go so far and say the couple without kids will drink and gamble twice as much (rough estimate) as a couple traveling with kids

I hardly drink, but my drinking has increased since having kids, and my husband's drinking has not changed. I seen plenty of drunk parents on my cruises. I would argue that the drinking is the same

Also my cruise would not be ruined if my kids can't swim in an adult only pool. I have been on the Pide and they have adult only pool and I never even been In it. My cruise would be ruined only if there was no family pools. Which is not the case, but it is was I would cruise a different line. Obviously carnival see more vaule in having more family friendly pools

No way. They drink less, don't stay out as late, don't stay in the casino as long...if they go at all.

I love children and they have the right to have fun too. Some parents don't watch or guide their children and allow them to just run rampant. Perhaps it is the fermented juice that cause the parent(s) to be aloof. I heard a child holler from the hot-tub, hey mom, I have to pee. The mom replied, just go ahead in the water. I expressed NO, they will close down the hot-tub to sanitize it, so she got her butt up and assisted the child. Children should have their own pool and water play area to get all of their energy out, to scream, holler, and to have loads of fun. Adults should also be allowed an area of serenity, peace, and a hot tub without children jumping into it or running by the loungers knocking beverages over. Carnival needs to create a win/win for all cruisers. .

Getting down to the wire now ? I can see it all laid out in future parental planning . Hefty fellow jumps into the pool during spring break, dry docks a few kids with their floaties around their arms .

Alcohol and children do not make a mixture .

First of all, the Vista is it's own class of ship, with the Horizon to follow. They are both 133,500 tons in size, compared to the Conquest class size of 110,000, so in essence they are 20% bigger. And the after 700pm allowance of using the Havana area is open to everyone on the ship, including kids. If you're staying in the Havana area, you must be 12+ and only those that are in one of the exclusive 64 cabins can use the area until 700 pm.

long time carnival and other cruise lines cruiser here, and we definitely loved the aft area on the liberty, cant recall it being adults only, but for sure on the valor the adult only area was fantastic!

so we'd for sure want to keep it the same, maybe all us "adults" should go to the kiddie pools on some ships for the day!?!?!

I voted, keep it adults only. Lost a nice $10 Pina Colada at the "open to all pool" by the cannon ball splash kid so decided from then on we're going to the aft adult only where I don't have to worry about getting pool water in my drink. The pools are already small. Disney is kid friendly but have their adult pool only area then why can't CCL keep one. Glad I'm on the Pride in May. Don't mind the kids on the ship at all except my small adult pool.

Carnival is seriously damaging my calm ! The kids already have the main pool, kiddie pools and slides-they do not need my pool ! I want a splash-free cannonball-free zone for my mental health ! I will give up Carnival if they take my pool. The Serenity decks have hot tubs and deck chairs. None of that does anything for me. This is a big mistake, one that other smarter cruise lines will benefit from.
