townsla Posted November 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2019 We are frequent cruisers but have never cruised on NCL. We currently have 2 connecting balcony cabins booked for our family of 4. (Kids are 13 and 10.) The cost for our family of 4 to upgrade to a Haven 2 bedroom suite would be an extra $1,500 total. Is the Haven worth the extra money? Are there other kids in the Haven? Two Wheels Only Posted November 1, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2019 Yes. Yes, more than likely.
phillyguy31 Posted November 1, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2019 (edited) If that is truly the cost yes, but it would mean canceling one of your cabins and if you are in final payment there may be a penalty. It would also mean that you will be losing perks for 2 people, however for 1500 I would jump on that. I did just that for our June 2020 cruise and it was a lot more than that. disneylover89 Posted November 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2019 If your kids are young, then yes. My kids are over 21 so I would not. The drink and dine package are only for the first 2 people in your room and having 4 in a room in not worth it for me.

Starry Eyes Posted November 1, 2019 #7 Share Posted November 1, 2019 (edited) Yes, the Haven would certainly be worth that cost to upgrade for a one week cruise. No doubt in my mind. Grab that upgrade fast before that price disappears. Good deals go fast. There are likely to be other kids in the Haven on a March cruise (spring break somewhere?) You will also have some extra gratuity costs...higher daily service charges for suite and butler and concierge tips. Still worth it, imho. dexddd Posted November 1, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 1, 2019 Yes, I'd do it. There are kids in the Haven but whether there'll be any of same ages and/or end up meeting your kids probably slim. Our kids go to the clubs typically and meet kids there and then do things either with the club or at times a group would do things around the ship. There really isn't much to do in the Haven for kids other than eat snacks. On the GA, the Haven pool is about large enough for 10 people total standing and it would be full. GA doesn't have a room that closes over the Haven. The 2 BR has a living room, basically an inside room with a bathroom, and then the master bedroom with a great bathroom with window overlooking the water. townsla Posted November 1, 2019 Author #13 Share Posted November 1, 2019 Ya'll are horrible influences because I pulled the trigger. I figured I would kick myself for not taking this when I had a chance. I've decided to not tell my family and just surprise them when we board.

We can sail balconies on other lines (besides MSC where we cruise YC) but we love the Haven on NCL. For only $1500 I would have kicked you myself LOL Enjoy!!! tomservo Posted November 1, 2019 #16 Share Posted November 1, 2019 Excellent choice, you won't regret it! You might have regrets when you have a hard time going back to a balcony (and/or your spouse). Let us know how it goes!

erdoran Posted November 1, 2019 #20 Share Posted November 1, 2019 What’s is is you can have the butler bring in dinner when the kiddies are exhausted and asleep - or late nite snacks!

Pookie092403 Posted November 2, 2019 #22 Share Posted November 2, 2019 Question? I thought only one room can move up and the other room doesn’t get to go? We sail connecting or side by side balconies and we were told if we upgrade, the room that upgrades is the only one allowed to go. So the other room would have to stay in the balcony. Shidah Posted November 2, 2019 #23 Share Posted November 2, 2019 The OP paid for the upgrade outright, did not bid for it. That is the difference. Instead of 2 rooms went with a 2 bedroom suite. Great deal and you will love the Haven!!!

First suite, that is what I did and it was a great surprise for them. Subsequent trips would say inside cabin but they didn't believe me anymore. Meant roof doesn't close over Haven on GA, not room in prior post.

Excellent choice and the looks on their faces when they learn onboard what is happening with the upgrade is worth every penny. The kids will feel like rock stars getting escorted onto the ship and the service you will receive in the Haven is second to none. Our boys remember fondly the extra special treatment they received from the Haven staff to make their trips very memorable. You made the right call !!
