Will this be the end of smoking in the casino forever?

Not a myth for me -- when I am drinking and gambling then I want a cigarette.

this is never a pleasant topic as it will always be controversial.   Just like I am allergic to most perfumes and colognes and my throat closes up when I get on an elevator with someone overloaded on perfume.    Not a good conversation either.

Speaking only for myself, I never want a cigarette when I drink. And when I drink I never get the urge to gamble.

It didn’t take this thread long to gain momentum.

In my opinion

Smoking thread. Check.

C&A changes. Check.

To Buffet or not. Check.

Shall we start taking wagers on the next topic: Tipping, Dress code, Chair hogs or CATS?

Well for starters we have no idea if masks will be required on ships...…..

If so, and they try to "social distance" too (which isn't possible), there will be many less passengers including smokers.

Agreed, if masks were required my cruising days would be over.  And I hope they leave the Windjammer as is..

Yes by killing the person who is carrying it along with any second hand smokers carrying it.

Spending all that money on cigarettes to accomplish something that the virus would do for free.

Will new requirements over physical distancing, air quality, wearing masks, etc., will this finally be the end of interior smoking on RCI ships in the casino?  Celebrity does not allow it, Azamara does not have casinos on most ships.  Can't figure out how people would smoke through a mask.

Fortunately in the UK and Europe smoking is banned indoors and it was the best thing for people's health.

Outdoor smoking is still allowed where smoke is easily dispersed so at least smokers are not being deprived their craving.

This has been a myth for some time that has turned out to be false. Many Casinos survive just fine without smoking.

Pre coronavirus bars and restaurants in UK and Europe were thriving in a smoke free environment and although we don't gamble or go in casinos I agree casino's will thrive also without smoking.

This thread has nudged me into realising that changing out UK sailing for an NY sailing means the casino will be off limits to us due to the smoking. Not a big issue, but it does surprise me that US sailings still allow smoking indoors.

Apparently the decision has been dragging for years while analysts argue over how you compare US Vs EU casino stats, but it's inevitable that it happens eventually. I'll be happy if it does before we cruise but I'll also happily just avoid the casino.

Nothing will stop people from gambling. Of cource, people will be irritated with such a decision but they will always have a chance to smoke outside or at some designated places. Its not like the smoking will be prohibited or something. I think smokers should respect the right for fresh air of those who dont smoke. I used to be a smoker myself and I can totally understand the smokers... but they also should understand those who dont smoke

I have a non smoking casino 20 minutes from my house. Do I go there? In a word.....NO. I will spend 2.5 hours traveling to AC instead.

Can you tell me the #1 reason the 2.4 billion dollar Revel casino closed? I can, it was because they didn’t allow smoking. Before you try to retort, the judge in the bankruptcy case made them switch to smoking to try to save the casino from going under.
