What part of Florida are you in?  Tampa Bay is open but masks are required everywhere.  While you can’t be fined, you can be denied service.  I can’t get go in my office building without a mask on.  The Hard Rock Casino requires masks.  Most restaurants require them when you are not seated.  And I am happy to see most everyone is complying.

Ormond Beach. Businesses may refuse service to those not complying with their requirements. I haven’t seen any enforcing. We wear a mask into a restaurant until we are seated and when we leave. That’s our personal choice.

People should be responsible for themselves. We have our own bubble of friends. Some friends we don’t hang with as they seem to be careless.

There are no fines or penalties for not wearing a mask.

IMO, businesses should be open and people should be responsible for themselves.

There are some differences between Ormond and Daytona Beach. The Daytona Beach Mayor would have his City completely shut down if he could.

We had Biketoberfest two weeks ago and it doesn’t appear to have been the “superspreader” event.

I cannot understand why there are people in the stadium in Texas watching baseball, not wearing masks, not socially distancing and eating food.

No spectators are allowed into any sports/football stadiums in the UK.

In the UK we have to wear a mask by law in a restaurant/bar while standing but can remove the mask while seated and service is strictly table service.

While in shops or indoor shopping malls mask wearing is mandatory.

We have strictly followed all guidelines for covid19 but lots of people haven't.

We wear our masks where it’s appropriate.

I don’t support a “law” or Government mandate that masks are required. We are The Land of The Free.

COVID19 deaths affect a very small percentage of the total population. The vulnerable should protect themselves and avoid situations where they might become infected. We avoid those places.

We are responsible for us.

Our government threaten you with fines if you don't adhere to mask laws.

We now have 3 tiers of restrictions in England and it is difficult to understand what you can or cannot do and sometimes feel as though our freedoms are being taken away.

We always wear our masks indoors and social distance as best as we can as well.  I'm in the Northeast US and I would say 99% of people do as well.  Of course, you still get that occasional nitwit that doesn't.  Just yesterday I was in my local supermarket and there was a 70-something looking woman walking around without a mask.  SMH

Quote:There is no need to take a test for at least 90 days after infection because all tests will come back positive.

This is a completely false statement.  Mr Wolf and I both had covid.  Mine was a mild case, his was NOT.  He tested negative 5 weeks after initial positive test.  I tested negative 3 weeks later - and probably would have tested negative earlier but there was no reason for me to test until he was symptom free.

The cruise lines seem to have as many safety procedures implemented as possible.  The problem is going to be passengers.  There is a large % of the population that will not play by the rules - we've all heard the stories of people going to parties and events either knowingly being positive, showing symptoms or knew they had been exposed.  Temperature checks alone aren't enough - I never ran a temp, neither did 2 of our friends.  Social distancing is going to be a big deal initially and I feel for the cruise staff who MUST enforce it.

I sure wish we could show proof of antibodies to allow ourselves a little bit of relaxation. I still wear masks since it is a state mandate in Texas and it shows respect to those around me. And yes - Texas is confusing.  Dallas County is MUCH more strict than Collin County where I live.  Bars open in Collin, bars closed in Dallas.  And no - we have no idea where and how Mr Wolf got covid.  I got it from him after 2 weeks but he was extremely careful and it still happened.

I hope cruises are up before March - people need to make the right decision for themselves and I fully support the cruise lines protecting themselves with liability releases on this issue.

That should be everywhere

Couldn't disagree more. As long as they are spread out and wear masks I believe limited spectators should be allowed in outdoor venues.

To follow up on infection vs death rate and hospitalizations, etc.  A good friend of ours was discussing this with his primary care Dr  just this week.  In our county, the infection rate is below the state level, but what's interesting is according to him out of the 16 current hospitalizations, only 2 are in ICU and we've had very few deaths (2 or 3 all in the 80+ group) over the last few weeks.  Our county has two hospitals, one of which completed a huge remodeling and addition just this last year to bring it up to a level III trauma center.   There have been no new hospitalizations or death in at least the last 24 hours, even though there are still positive cases showing up with testing.  Our PCR is 4.5% with 62 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

The thing is that many people were not wearing masks and they were seated together.

Plus this was a stadium with a retractable roof that was closed due to inclement weather the last two games, therefore ,it was no longer an outdoor venue.

Now, my personal opinion is that cruise ships should not sail until such time as they agree not to dump off infected cruisers In US Ports.

However, I do not think they can turn away US citizens. I do not think you would support that happening.   That being said it might take sometime for cruises to return and this could be a non-issue.

Edit: sure glad I don’t have money invested in the cruise industry. 😉

It’s personal for me as I have two family members who work in hospitals. The cruise lines, IMO, need to come up with a plan to address infected people onboard and it should not include dumping them off into US Facilities regardless what citizenship they have. The CDC has asked for this and it’s been ignored.

Why’s that? If one is vulnerable, they shouldn’t attend.

In actuality we do not know for sure if we are vulnerable or not.Aside from my many medical problems that I am dealing with I was at my doctor for routine blood work and the finding was that I have another issue that I was not aware of.

Many people do not go to doctors and therefore have no idea if they have a problem that would make them vulnerable.

I didn't watch any of the WS so didn't realize roof was closed.  I wish people would realize mask needs to cover NOSE as well as mouth.  On our flights to and from FL last week flight attendants came over PA multiple times to remind people noses needed to be covered as well.  It was nice.

People sitting together probably were from the same household or bubble.  Maybe not, but my guess is they somehow were.

The stadium may have a roof, but I don't believe the area was completely sealed shut - lots of ventilation from entrances, and even if that is not the case almost all baseball this summer was played outdoors - ridiculous that spectators weren't allowed.  College football is outdoors and many NFL stadiums are still outdoors.  It is good for people to get out.

I understand where you are coming from as you too know it is near and dear to me as well. They keep ignoring it and until they either address it, or the risk is highly lower I don’t see approval happening anytime soon.

You are correct, I was at games 2 and 4, they would not sell seats together unless they were purchased together for the same “bubble” or familial group

i have posted this before but it bears repeating .I live in a condo and due to my medical problems I am in bed 21 hours a day. I have a huge picture window which helps me alleviate boredom.I see hundreds of people walk by every day. I was say that 90% do not wear masks. They tend to walk together. One of these people is a Dentist and I often want to yell out to him to put on a mask.

Three of my neighbors have died from Covid as well as two other residents of the condo.
