.. I believe there is 70% of the world’s population who will decide on their own to get it and we can reach herd immunity.

That 70% may or may not bring herd immunity.

Over 90% would bring it more surely and a whole lot sooner - with each variable saving a lot of lives; a lot of medical care being spent unnecessarily, and a lot of economic activity being deferred unnecessarily

Because I hope you and other non-vaccinated people don't kill anyone. Honestly? Anyone I know also.

I am not anti-vaccine.  I am waiting till later in the summer to make my decision.  However, your statement above is highly inflammatory because from what I read vaccinated people can still get covid and transmit to others.  So until 100 % of the population is vaccinated you could also kill someone.

If "inflammatory" I apologize. But I would guess that the odds are better for a non-vaccinated person to transmit it than a vaccinated one.

The vaccines are already being tested on kids.  The test groups are working backwards in age from 18 to the youngest.

A new update from today's Washington Post:

On the vaccine front, Moderna has launched a clinical trial for its mRNA vaccine in children as young as six months. The trial, which will enroll 6,750 subjects, will begin testing the vaccine in children ages 6 to 12 and then involve younger and younger kids.

I get my second dose March 23rd. Two weeks after the second dose I should be immune, or so the scientists tell me, so what day is two weeks after March 23rd?

Nothing wrong with giving it a few extra weeks to make your decision about what you're going to do if you're young and healthy especially. It gives everyone administering the vaccine a bit of extra time to get a handle on administering and it gives the people who have reason to really need to get it first a good chance at it before you. I'd just like to see most folks getting their second vaccine by the time flu season starts in the fall. It would be nice to just have the usual seasonal illnesses we all mostly ignore to worry about come fall. Unfortunately several members of my family are really, really high risk so we've all been trying to get vaccinated as early as we reasonably can.

I am not stepping foot on a ship until all of the mask and distance requirements are history. Why anyone with take a vacation under such dehumanizing rules is beyond me.

Agree.

Please take our poll!  And, if you are booked and are ready to go, share below!  What do you have booked?

There was no place in the poll to clarify "Other."  We would definitely go after being fully vaccinated if both staff and passengers must have been vaccinated and, most important, no social distancing, no masks, and the right to take independent tours.  Absent that, not interested in cruising.

Come visit my resort here in Utah.  We've had a very good season despite our county's mask and distancing mandate.  Even people skiing were subject to those mandates while in the lift lines.  My condo project has been just a busy as it was before.  Thousands who have visited have not felt dehumanized.   You seem to be projecting.

And, I will absolutely not be visiting my family in South Central Pennsylvania as there are too many people around them who feel they have no need to mask or vaccinate and are selfishly leaving others to provide their herd immunity.

Just curious, do the skiers who wear the masks riding the lift then ski downhill with the masks on or can they ski downhill with out the masks?  Thanks!

Riding the lift - yes.  In the liftline - yes.  While skiing/riding - no.  Chances are you are absolutely social distancing when you are skiing/riding - any closer anytime is not safe.

Lifties at the lifts are absolutely checking and warning people about masking.  Just a bandana or Buff or gaitor doesn't count.

I wanted to add:  the resorts instituted a reservation system to limit the number of people skiing/riding on a day (4,000/day).  One exempted pass holders, another one didn't.  They sold out just about every day.  Like this week, totally sold out until Monday.  So, people are definitely still showing up in droves for a week of skiing/riding for a Winter vacation.

I have skied at Park City and it was some of the best skiing I've ever experienced!😀

Tahoe has been the same. Thankfully we got some very good snow this year. And even with outdoor the places seem full.

Slidergirl what is a "gaper"? I come from a place that never sees snow here in West Australia so I am ignorant of the term.

The urban dictionary definition of "gaper":

A gaper is a skiier or snowboarder who is completely clueless. Usually distinguished by their bright colored clothes and a gaper gap, the gap between goggles.

We even have a "Gaper Day" here in the Spring.  Everyone brings out the old clothes from the 80s & 90s.  If I would have known my old ski onesies would be so popular, I would have kept them and sold them at a good price!!!

In town, for the past 4 years, there were bumper stickers about a high-ranking government official being a gaper or that he skis in jeans 🤣

I chose ‘other’. We have 5 cruises booked starting February 2022 (a few are b2B).

Yes we are eager to get cruising again, but whilst we are both vaccinated (and I would want my fellow passengers to be vaccinated also) I really don’t want to wear a mask on board or do ships tours... That will dictate whether we keep or cancel our 2022 cruise reservations.

We like to socialise on board, but I can live with being sat at a table 1metre away from other tables if it meant I didn’t have to wear a mask

Besides being cold all the restrictions make it sound like the worst vacation ever.  I will just stay home, visit the beach and not wear a mask.  I am glad for your economy that so many people seem to be so desperate to ski that they put up with all the rules.

I am with you....skiing and cold is not for me. Park City though is a great place to visit in the summer. I was there a couple of years ago at the end of a western road trip and would vacation there again in the summer. Also ski resorts in the summer like Park City and Telluride have very good deals in their summer off season.

When I lived in Colorado 50 years ago we would go to Telluride and Aspen in the summer and it was fun.  My parents were not skiers.  With all the restrictions now it does not sound like fun in the summer or winter.  We are thinking about South Dakota this summer.  Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon.
