Should the Covid vaccine be required?

Should the Covid vaccine be required?

  1. 1. What do you think about the requirement to be vaccinated which will be valid already on the first Odyssey, Adventure and Celebrity Millennium cruises in May and June?

    • Cruise lines should require everyone to be vaccinated
      300
    • Cruise lines should accept a PCR test instead of the vaccine from people who can't get it
      29
    • For this moment, only negative Covid tests should be required from all passengers

Power, greed, control.    They are an embarrassment to this country.  Make sure you have an empty stomach when you watch this cheezy act by the CDC director.  Go to 1:10 where she says she's going off script, WHILE READING A@%@% SCRIPT!!!

You're not located in the US so it will be hard for you to understand the politics here, but lies upon lies!

We do receive news broadcasts and have internet access in Australia 😁😁

In the news I read it looks like the CDC has had their attention on combating virus spread rather than empire building/designing falsehoods 🤔

Would you please provide a link to the authority under which the CDC could close the casinos in a state.

I don't have a link, just the unjust thought that they are open and cruises are not!...The US government has not provided one dollar to the cruise industry, but yet the CDC can tell them no cruising !

Of course not, there is no authority for the CDC to close the casinos.  If there was, I have no doubt they would have been shuttered months ago.  The relevance of your introduction of the US government’s (non) subsidization of the cruise industry escapes me.

The CDC mandate is assuredly not to provide justice in an unfair world. Nor is it legally able to dictate health policy to businesses within state borders.

It might seem that to be a good thing. Just imagine how many more industries the CDC could have brought to their knees.

Exactly.  If up to the CDC we would all be locked in our homes to keep the director from "an impending sense of doom"

One day its doom and gloom, the next day she is singing zippidy doo daa outta her rear end about vaccines.  Scientists & dr's have zero communication skills, understanding of basic PR, and have constantly looked like idiots the past 12 months.

Carnival ceo has again said he will not mandate vaccines. He wants a level playing field with other travel. Tests can be done, but some cant get vsccines and some states have said vaccines cant be required.

Good for him! I'm vaccinated so I don't mind either way, but I respect any businessman who says he welcomes all guests, no matter their vaccination status.

What will your thoughts be if the governments of various Caribbean islands say ships are not welcome with unvaccinated people aboard?

I'm shaking my head at all who claim that its desantis alone keeping cruises from restarting, like the cdc isnt the block. A lot seem to ignore that texas too has banned the vaccine passport, and Galveston is a port in texas. I've decided it's purely political attacks when you are only blaming one governor on not resuming.

So far cdc seems unbending to me. Ncl offered to do all vaccinated if that would help, no reply from cdc, so obviously that's not it.

Our next two cruises are in Europe and Japan, so it's not an issue for us. But the cruise line could get around that issue by only allowing vaccinated passengers to disembark in ports. No problem for me and my wife, we've been vaccinated. 😃

We cant even get our own govt to decide lol. If some island decides that, then deal with it then. Let's get cruises restarted on whatever basis cdc will allow. Just not the cso which cruiselines feel is unworkable and amounts to a no sail order.

Cdc doesnt want to bend, maybe they feel they will lose face, so perhaps it's not even a issue until the cso expires in Nov. People just want to know. Have cruises treated equal to disney world etc.

But what happens if they decide to do testing and even though you and I have been vaccinated, we pick up enough of the virus to test positive and are asymptomatic?  I certainly don't want to be quarantined in my cabin or not allowed back on the ship? Right now I'm not willing to take that chance - especially far from home.

Great way to skirt the answer. First, it doesn't affect you as you are not going to the Caribbean. Second, if the islands say no ships with unvaccinated people aboard, cruise lines won't get around it by only letting vaccinated people disembark. If the islands say no then the ships aren't porting. No one is going ashore.

If you want to live your life that way, always worrying about "what if, what if, what if,"  then you should definitely stay home. I have seen 0 evidence of cruise ships completely stopping and quarantining. Rather than entertain these endless scenarios of "what will you do if," I prefer to look at the evidence. Since cruising restarted last August with the MSC Grandiosa, there have been a handful of people test positive for Covid, while 400,000 passengers have sailed in that time period. Where's the nightmare scenario you envision? Answer: there isn't one. That's why I'm confident about traveling again. I'm vaccinated, I've had Covid already, and my considered opinion is that I have nothing to worry about.

Dude!!! That's impressive!!! Sarcopenia isn't in your vocabulary!!! I'd ask if you're a former athlete but it's obvious you are STILL one!!

My men's league hockey team is made up of guys 28-69. The guys over 50 are in the best shape by far....those who get it, get it.

I'm not sure why you are so interested in what I, someone you don't even know, plans to do about his vacation. It doesn't concern you in the least, especially since you asked about the Caribbean and I specifically said we're not going there. But since you insist on hypotheticals by saying "IF the islands say no to ships," etc. I'd say the cruise industry will cross that line when they come to it. Maybe they have excursion bubbles and the unvaccinated aren't allowed ashore. I don't have the answer, DO YOU?

Besides, this is all just your opinion. You and I have ZERO control over what islands will or won't do. NONE.
