Full-sized bottle of Bailey's not allowed in Sky Suite??

I am on my first X cruise, in a lovely Sky Suite, which has a fare that includes premium drinks.  My butler kindly stocked my fridge with my sodas of choice (but made a point that usually you have to order one at a time for the cabin, that he is doing me a favor)
The first day, I also asked for a bottle of Baileys,  to consume during the cruise in my room a little at a time each day ( after an excursion, before or after dinner, etc., however I feel, sometimes more, sometimes less), as was our habit for years on luxury lines.  Baileys is on the premium drink list,  but I said I was willing to pay with my OBC if that is required for in-room alcohol on X, depending on the price ( Oceania had charged $100 for a Bailey's and that was over the top).

The next day the butler came back and said that *even if I paid, he could not bring me a bottle of Bailey's to keep in my room.* He said I should call each time I want a Bailey's drink, and they will bring one drink's worth one at a time ( an airline size), free, and then I should call him again if I want seconds.  Or, he could charge me for a bottle and I could pick it up when I disembark! I confirmed I did not misunderstand what he said, and advised him that both scenarios defeat the purpose of spontaneous self-service at odd times and a desire to avoid ordering delays, so I declined.

Is this butler misinformed, or am I missing a rationale here for not allowing a suite guest to have a full bottle of alcohol in her room, even if she pays for it at a ship inflated price? Even more confusing is that after dinner I came back to my suite and found a bottle of pinot noir  I had not ordered ( with chocolate strawberries).

As odd as it seems I think your butler was right. There are certain liquors which can be ordered by the bottle for in-room consumption—they come with some salty snacks and some bottles of soft drink mixers. Bailey’s is not on that list.

So it can’t be ordered via that route.

Purchasing from the liquor store, you would receive it the night before the end of the cruise.

So there just isn’t a mechanism for ordering a bottle of Bailey’s for your state room. He is correct that you can get it but I did drink as often as you wish, buying a full bottle it’s probably not an option on Celebrity. Other lines may do it differently,

I think you may want to inquire the situation with the Retreat Concierge to confirm.

There may be limits on what is/can be provided in Sky Suites or ???

This way you will find out immediately and directly and let us know the results.

If you call them every 20 minutes or so you are in your suite, then maybe another accommodation will be made, which would be more suitable?

Cheers and bon voyage

I am also surprised that the butler made that offer, since Room service beverages are not included in most of the packages. I think the butler was trying to find a solution that would satisfy you.

Since Bailey’s doesn’t go bad, and doesn’t even need refrigeration, you can keep two or three glasses on hand at all times, which would serve the purpose, so I don’t see the need to have a full bottle in your room.

On your way in from a. Excursion stop by a bar and order a double or triple  Baileys.

The beverage package covers drinks by the glass not bottles and not drinks from room service.  Your butler is correct and has offered to assist as best he can.

I would pick a bottle up on shore. If you go really early and come back early the table is not set up to take things away from you.

If the table is there, I just pretend I don't speak English. On the other hand, you can pour it into an empty water bottle and bring it back that way.

IMO, it doesn't make sense to limit people when they have a premium drink package.

In suite bar set up comes with Royal Suites and above. You get two times one litre bottles plus beers, sodas etc of your choice. If the drinks are within the premium package you are unlikely to be refused any choice.

The in suite bar set up option is at an add on cost for all other guests. There may be a limited number (list of brands) they can process.

Suites on all ships come with levels of included and not included features. The features of all suites on Celebrity are clearly explained.

Your butler has been very kind to offer to bring you drinks a glass at a time. With how busy they are this is above and beyond. We usually stay in a RS or PH and would not generally expect the butler to bring us extra drinks of anything.

As cruisestitch and jelayne say most guests simply pick up a glass from the nearest bar…none are too far away. Come to think of it, even when we cruised in a PH suite and I was on crutches my husband went to fetch an occasional glass of wine rather than phone the butler….

I really don’t understand your unhappiness…You have in in suite soda selection which technically the butler isn’t obliged to provide, you can get a Bailey’s at any bar…The butler obviously reported your annoyance to the Retreat Concierge, hence the wine and strawberries…They are clearly trying to say very politely that they hope you have a fantastic cruise but what you are asking for is not possible within your suite category.

In this case, what is limited is by the bottle, which the OP requested.

Were they in a 'top tier' suite, it would not be an issue.

This is absolutely against the rules that you agreed to when you signed your contract.

Thanks to all for the various responses.

To reiterate, I am not trying to get something for nothing or break rules, given I was ready to pay a fee for the bottle in the room for my later self-service during the week , and  no extra service by butlers would be required, (especially if I could go get my own bottle).  What I find  odd ( not spelled out) is that even if I pay, whatever the price people without a package pay, I cannot get the bottle.

If there is a list somewhere of what alcohol can be consumed in a Sky Suite, with or without a fee, I was not given it.

I will check with the concierge services to confirm.

Sounds like your butler is caught between a rock and a hard place by following the ships' rules on bottle service for suites, and fulfilling his mission to provide guests with what they request.  I am happy to read that you will accept the limits of his ability to obtain a bottle of Baileys.  It's good to read about a reasonable individual trying to find a win-win solution.  Let us know how it all works out.

Is the Drinks and more package an option?  I am not sure sure which alcohol options are included. Personally I would not spend the money.  And it would be the small single serving bottles.

Catlover 54, I know you are not sharing, but Celebrity has some of these policies to reduce the sharing of drinks with other guests that do not have premium drink package.
I do not know which full bottles are actually available for purchase, but it appears that Bailey’s is not an option available for a bottle purchase.  I have no idea how Celebrity makes the determination on what bottles to stock and offer. There are about 10 different bottles available for purchase prior to boarding, but the prices are outrageous.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

The Drinks and more does not include any liquor other than the Premium.  It includes 2 bottles of wine, $50 casino credit, and a wine tasting.  If both passengers in the cabin purchase the mini bar is included and refilled with a set list of items

Speaking of Baileys..does anyone know if they have an off brand substitute that could be used in cocktails covered under the classic package? Same for Chambord..do they have a substitute option for Kir Royale? The only time we have used a beverage package was when they had the old 4 perks promo with premium package... TIA

Gosh, I guess we have just been really lucky. I have always found that they bend the rules a bit.

No....the staff is merely unwilling to have a confrontation (which will likely reflect poorly on their job performance) with passengers that ask them to break the rules so they can get away with something.  It's disgraceful to put them in that position.

There are Classic and Premium Bar Setups that can be purchased. Bailey's is not in either one of those setups I would assume.

While we always get a beverage package, we purchase a Classic Bar Setup so we can have a drink without having to bring one back to the cabin. Although I also utilize the "Stop by a bar and get a double shot" from time to time.
