I need the good luck today!

It is a nice sunny day here in northeast Ohio.  It isn't supposed to get as hot as the last two days.

No need to say what I've got planned today!

Thinking of you and praying for a very successful surgery for you today resolving your problems and a very quick recovery  🙏🏻

Well, I am ready to go.  The house is clean, including bathrooms.  I put fresh sheets on the bed, fresh towels in the bathrooms, dusted the furniture, and swept the floors.  The kitchen has stayed clean because I wasn't allowed anything to eat!   I'm even doing a home Covid test just to be sure I'm negative and won't have this surgery delayed.

@Cat in my lap, @ottahand7, @Sea Viewer, @cat shepard, @cunnorl, @JAM37, @marshhawk, @0106, @ger_77, @kazu, many thanks for all the good wishes and prayers.  I'm so glad the surgical team was included as they are the ones I'm not sure of here.

Good morning friends!  I've been trying to keep up here with our ship Wi-fi while I still have it.  Congrats to @AncientWandereron that new little GS.  The parents are probably happy he was in such a big hurry, as long as they made it to the hospital on time.

Debby @dfishI'm hoping to hear some good news from you later, that all went well and you're feeling okay.  While I was typing I see you posted.  Good luck!!

Last night I WhatsApped my twin and asked how Buddy was doing because last I heard he had a bone scan that showed "something".  She said he had a biopsy which showed the same cancer as his throat cancer.  He's been in so much pain he hadn't slept in forever.  Yesterday the oncologist said take him to to Mercy Hospital about 50 minutes from her house and the ER would be ready for him.  They have tried morphine, Dilaudid, and Valium with a pain patch which finally let him sleep.  A Neurologist was coming in to see him and possibly do back surgery.  No new reports this morning.  I'm worried to death about him.

Dining has been a real issue onboard.  They might not have enough crew to handle this many guests.  Long waits in line to get into lunch in MDR or even dinner.  Lucky for us we arranged a certain table at a set time so I'm thankful for that.  But I see so many people waiting in line for a table each night.  Yesterday at lunch we waited 40 minutes to get into the MDR to eat.  They were running around like crazy trying to get us all fed.  Food has been only average too.  At least we don't have to prepare it and clean up afterwards, though.  Hoping they work out the kinks as we go along.

Take care everyone!

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit and thanks for the daily report.  Dare day a d flip a coin day sound like perfect childhood summer pursuits. I’ve actually seen the Heimlich used successfully on someone choking in a restaurant so it definitely deserves a day.  I love the quote.  No to the meal and yes to the drink.  I haven’t been to Rhodes and look forward to seeing the photos. Prayers for everyone on today’s prayer list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events.

I saw  this  move  used   in  they dining  room on MS  Koningsdam.

A late good morning from central Texas.  We got a bit of rain earlier, and we are supposed to have thunderstorms overnight.  As I've said before, we need rain here too.  Today will be an easy day after the busy last two days.

Flipping a coin for me is a dare, since I usually lose.  The Heimlich maneuver has saved many lives, including our Dailyite @ottahand7 and her father.

The Stephen King quote is so true even if I don't read many of his books.

The meal lost me when I read quinoa and then I saw chickpeas which also lost me.  We'll pass on the drink, but I would try the wine.  We've had Moscato on cruises in the past.

We have visited Rhodes three times, and have enjoyed our visits there.  I'll post the pictures I posted on September 11, 2021, in a bit.  I also found @StLouisCruisers Sandi's pictures she posted that day, and I'll add them to the Daily too.

@dfish  Debbie you are in my thoughts as you have your surgery today.  Sending positive thoughts that everything goes well and you are home later today.

@cat shepard  Ann, another very true one-liner.  We know too many who refuse to be vaccinated.

@marshhawk  Ann, good to know you made two sales yesterday.  Sorry you have to work such late hours.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, thank you for the update on Buddy.  I'm sorry the news was not good, and I'm sending positive thoughts that they can operate and get all the cancer.  I hope he can make a full recovery and that his pain can be controlled.  I'm sorry the MDR is such a mess and that the food is only average.  Hope things improve.

We have been to Rhodes three times.  In 2003, the old Regal Princess stopped there on the mystery cruise.  Because of the Iraq invasion and SARS, Rhodes was not crowded.  The next two times, 2016 and 2017, we were there on the Prinsendam.  Part of our days were spent walking around town, and the rest of the day we either hired a taxi for a tour (2003) or rented a car.  I am going to divide my pictures between Rhodes town and the rest of the island.

This is where the Colossus of Rhodes stood in ancient times.  (Added that I read something last week that said this might not have been the place.  So who knows after so many centuries.)

The island of Rhodes.

Near the far end of the north shore, we stopped at a small harbor with a café where we had a coke.  There was a Lycean tomb in the hill by the harbor.  Lycean tombs are not normally found on Rhodes.

It is the area of the hill that looks manmade.

These are the pictures @StLouisCruisers Sandi posted on September 11, 2021.  As usual, I have put her words in Italics.

On Nov. 29, 2018 we arrived in Rhodes, Greece but it was a rainy morning which included thunder and lightning.  So we waited out the storm and after lunch there was a break in the weather.  We headed down the gangway and walked over to the City Walls for a quick look at Rhodes.  Our view from the ship.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJXxG51CkGe74m50j-WPzD4?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1546385064

We had seen several cats wandering through the old town, and when I took this photo of a cat on a wall, we heard a clap of thunder.  So we scurried through a gate and rushed towards the gangway.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIyav7pnp85nj7qbZ1ayYqY?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1546390304

As we neared the top of the gangway the winds gusted and raindrops began to fall.  We had only spent one hour in Rhodes exploring the streets and sites.  A trip back there is a must do!  The ship left about 7 pm so I took a few photos of the city after dark.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKBjUI-uR85SdkJd1kdYKq9?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1546390308

Good morning, Everyone.  I’m not daring at all and DH always wins the coin flips.  The Heinrich Maneuver is something we all need to know.  Agree with the quote — books really are magic.  Seems like the Hurricane would be delicious with the chickpea bites.  Always wish I could drink wine — been working on it again lately with poor results.  Too  many allergies.  We’ve never been to Rhodes. Thanks @Quartzsite Cruiserfor the great photos.  And thanks to others with any to share.

@grapau27, great news your test came out well.

@smitty34877, so glad for your beach getaway!

@ger_77, nice you had a lovely brunch!

@StLouisCruisers, that’s very sad news about Buddy.  So painful for him.

Also sorry your dining situation is less than ideal.  Our last Princess cruise — 42 days — we had dinner in the Lido most nights.  I saw that Bruno did that on his recent cruise.  For us it was a much better environment.  Quieter!

Thank you for the kind congratulations on our new DGS.  We hope to meet him this afternoon or evening. We’re trading off with DDIL’s parents in watching their toddler.  Photos coming!

Right now for the Garden Club I have this — a Gerrardanthus macrorhizus.  This was a new one on me and had to try it out.  A succulent that looks like ivy — growing out of a ball that looks like a big rock.  With our drought in the Southwest, interesting desert plants are good to find.

Thinking especially today of @dfishDebbie as she has surgery.  Nice to see @kazuJacqui here today.  Wishing all a lovely first day of June.  Sounds like Summer!  🌻🌻🌻

Excellent photos Lenda.

Not a fan of dares. Flipping a coin in sports is ok. Dr. Heimlich has saved many choking on food by coming up with his maneuver.

Very true quote. Books let the imagination go many places.

Maybe on the meal. I like hurricanes, but haven't had a mango one. No Moscato - too sweet likely.

I've been to Greece, but not Rhodes. Thanks for the pictures.

Another hot and humid one here today (86F currently), but storms later. I went to get a haircut earlier. Thankfully my salon is still requiring masking (and I would anyway). Then I just took my first injection of the new medication when I got home. My UK friend texted me that she is being released from the hospital today, after a bit of a rough go. A new bench for my porch came yesterday; I may try starting assembly later.

@dfish Thinking of you today and wishing for a successful surgery.

@cat shepard A true one-liner. I was invited to dine with a friend recently. He's in his 90's and has refused vaccination, so sadly I had to decline.

@ger_77 It sounds like you had a nice little gathering with your friends.

@kazu Nice to see you here. Continued prayers for strength and peace.

@StLouisCruisers Oh no,, so sorry to hear about Buddy's cancer in the bone, and his pain. I hope they can make him comfortable and help him. Prayers for him. I hope the dining situation on board improves; maybe these ships shouldn't sail so full until staffing improves, but I know they need the revenue.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Great photos! And thanks for posting @StLouisCruisers Sandi's pictures.

@AncientWanderer So exciting on getting to see the new DGS today!

Prayers for the Care List, Ukraine, and all the victims of gun violence. Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Sandi, thanks for the new update.  I hope for Buddy's sake the surgery can be scheduled soon.

Jim, thank you for your kind words.

Graham, thank  you.  I imagine the crossing can get rough at times.

Lenda

From 2000-2003 we did several DFDS cruise ferries from our local port Newcastle to Amsterdam,Bergen and Gothenburg.

Some times it was very rough and other times it was like a millpond.

I used to suffer from motion sickness as a car or bus passenger and why I was 44 before getting on a cruise ferry.

I was only sick once  so we started cruising properly in 2003 and we have had 58 cruises since then and I have only been sick once which was on Sea Princess in a force 11 storm.

Graham.

News from Buddy's wife, my niece Amy is different than I was told last night.  From the bone biopsy they can tell the type of cancer and the cancer on his scapula and spine is lung cancer.  However he hasn't got it in his lungs.  After surgery he will need radiation and immunotherapy.  Here we go again.

Winds have picked up here and we've been rocking this afternoon.  I can see some of the whitecaps being carried off into the wind as spray.  You can tell we're on the ocean now!

Hope we hear from Debbie soon.
