Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida.

Sort of a funny quote.

I love blueberries especially on my Special K for breakfast.

I've never been a fan of motorcycles.

Pass on the food as I want to know what I'm eating.

Off to the golf course in a few minutes.

Thanks for the Daily, stay well and have a great day.

Good morning and thank you for the Fleet Report and Daily Report.

Warm with a chance of showers later today.  I'm going to take my mum shopping.  🙂

I love blueberries, especially in pies.  I won't be painting my body.  I'm not a big fan of motorcycles, but I know lots of people who love them.

Amusing quote.

I'm not sure what the meal is, looking forward to seeing pictures and recipes.

I'll pass on the drink but hope the wine is good.

We are scheduled to stop at today's port on our next cruise.  Thanks in advance for pictures and comments.

Prayers for everyone.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay safe.

I would love to visit today’s port and look forward to the pictures.  I became intrigued with the Channel Islands when I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's a traditional love story but also, it is the story of a small island community composed of very disparate people who came together during the German occupation of World War II to protect, comfort, and in some cases, save one another.

Good afternoon.

It is 68°F and sunny here.

Thank you for today's fleet reports and Daily Rich.

I love blueberries.

Body painting is not for me.

I had a small motorbike when I was a teenager and Pauline's brother was severely injured 35 years ago when a drink driver plowed into his motorcycle.

Today's food and drink does not appeal.

We have to today's port many times but it is a tender port with strong currents and often the port is unattainable.

Prayers for everyone on the care list.

Take care.

Graham.

Thank you for the homecoming day daily, Rich.  I'll pass on both the motorcycle and the body painting but love blueberries.  The quote sounds kind of strange.  Been to St Peter Port at least on the Prinsendam.  No idea what the meal is.  My alternative is Duck Consume, Roast Beef, and Ice Cream as served on Queen Mary 2 July 7, 2022:

No lists today, the computer where I keep them is packed up.

Good morning friends!  Another beautiful morning but with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.  Typical summer weather here.  Did my exercising and prayers for everyone.  Reports on Buddy are he is sleeping a lot, looking poorly and yellow due to his liver cancer.  Hopefully a more extensive report today.  I'm not sure if twin and DBIL have tested negative or not yet.  Will ask later since they are an hour behind me.  Also cheers to all on the Celebration list and safe travels for all.

St. Peter Port, Guernsey was listed here on Dec. 30, 2021 and was a popular one for photos that day.  We have been there three times and never turned away due to poor weather, thank goodness.  A very enjoyable place to visit.  Photos coming up.

No thanks to body painting for me, love blueberries, and motorcycles may be dangerous but still very popular.  DH had a dirt bike once, followed by a street bike.  Luckily he was never involved in an accident.  However my DB has had a few accidents on his motorcycle.  His bikes are long gone!  And when I was 16 my boyfriend had a Harley Davidson and that was a fun way to spend the summer, taking rides for miles and miles.  I think the quote is funny, not sure what the menu item is, and don't care for Chardonnay.

Hope everyone has a nice Friday!

Thanks for the TGIF Daily, Rich.

Interesting collection of days.  I’ll pass on the body painting and motorcycles.  I made some blueberry / strawberry jam a few days ago - does that count? In honour of yesterday’s chocolate day…

LOL on the quote.  Ooh a chardonnay today.  Looking forwad to cat’s description.  We’ve been to St. Peter Port - loved it - will look for pics after.

Well, after I got Jose’s clothes dropped off and found a home for the wire hangers and some of the plastic, I nipped to the local grocery store for some bread and eggs & saw a sign that all perennials and shrubs/vines were 50% off in their garden centre.  Uh oh.

I should have known better than to go look.  I guess I was filling in for Jose who always came home with something and I asked where the H do you want me to put this?  I do know where 3 of them are going.  The 4th is a question mark 😉  Amazingly the credit card machine did not reject with “you have too many plants”.

Hope the tonado high wind and hail warning is all for naught and I will be able to get things done outside today.  I was drained after doing the clothes so worked on the overdue spread sheets instead.  Yes, I found the right password and while it works differently than my laptop with a bit of work, I can get it to do what I want on the spread sheet.  Have to watch my fingers though as the keyboard is different 😡

Feeling for all those people who are stranded by the airlines (been there done that) or whose baggage is in never-ever land.

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a great Friday everyone !!!!!!

Thank you for today’s Report & Daily, Rich! Another spectacular morning that will be turning in to a scorcher. Thank goodness the ocean breezes reach me.

Welcome back, Roy! Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Morning Dailyites!

Early gym classes for me, then I need to get out on my deck and clean. Perhaps I should wear my bathing suit and plan on jumping in the pool when I am done. I am being invaded by my niece & her family. This is sort of last minute, since they weren’t sure about air travel. But if all goes as planned they will arrive around 5 this evening. Lots to do. But getting ready is always a lot more fun than cleaning up after they go.

Any of you have that friend or relative who could talk forever? Keep the following tip in mind. You can thank me later….

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

**********

Ramey 2018 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay (Carneros)

This Napa stunner has superb ratings and sounds lovely. And it does not come with too high a price. Still a bit out of my budget, but it is available from several online distributors with prices starting at $64.99.

Winemaker Notes

Burgundian-style wine without the tropical fruit tones of some California Chardonnays. Hyde Vineyard wines often seem charming and feminine, with high natural acidity playing a prominent role.
WE100 Wine Enthusiast

This is a stunner from blocks planted in 1997 and 1999. Beautiful aromas of toasted hazelnut and stone lead to a palate that shows undeniable minerality paired with lasting acidity. It shows freshness and energy throughout. Drink 2026–2032.

JD96 Jeb Dunnuck

The 2018 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is more closed and reductive, with plenty of Burgundian matchstick notes as well as orchard fruits, toasted bread, spice, and chalky mineral nuances. This beauty is fresh, vibrant, medium to full-bodied, and as pure and precise as they come. It's another brilliant Chardonnay from this estate that will benefit from a year or two of bottle age and keep for over a decade. Rating: 96+

WS95 Wine Spectator
Powerful, sleek and well-structured, with rich minerality and savoriness to fresh-cut apple and pear flavors, backed by crackling acidity. Dried mint and sea salt accents linger on the spicy finish, with toasty notes. Best from 2022 through 2027.
RP95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2018 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is reminiscent of a fine Chablis, opening with notes of flint that segue to citrus and soft floral perfume. The palate is tensile and shimmery with racy acidity and mineral undertones. The youthfully shy fruits hint at more gravitas to come with time in bottle.

I'll post some photos of St. Peter Port, Guernsey.  These were from May, 2019 on the Prinsendam.  We were also there in Sept. 2018 also on Prinsendam and May, 2015 on Royal Princess.

On prior visits we visited other places around town so I'll check for some photos from then.  I always enjoy this particular port and have been lucky to be able to tender in each visit due to decent weather.  Not always true unfortunately for some cruisers.

The September 14, 2018 stop at St. Peter Port on Prinsendam started out sunny but clouds arrived shortly after we got to shore.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIoGcXuz6Q2Pz0E4WOsl-sP?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538525042

The people of Guernsey were under German occupation during WWII.  I've read the novel that describes the occupation twice now, and really enjoyed it.  It's called "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.  I highly recommend it.  You'll understand the title when you get into the book.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJjeBmFs58M3R0ZxY1yatLp?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538525153

Good morning everyone!

It is another beautiful day with plenty of sunshine, blue skies, and moderate temperatures.  It will be great for doing my laps.  Actually, the laps have changed in nature a bit.  The construction on the street behind me has grown.  It would have been nice if they had finished the sidewalks on one side before they tore up the other side.  I may walk through and just use the street.

Still no tickets for our flight home.  I may have to do battle with Flight Ease today.  It is getting to the point of ridiculousness.

Today's meal is a unique one.  Pla Thot is a type of Thai fried fish.  Usually the fish is fried whole.  This first one marinates the fish in a garlic/turmeric combination.  Later the garlic and turmeric are fried and ladled over the fish.   https://www.eatingthaifood.com/recipe-thai-fried-fish-garlic-turmeric/

This recipe uses red snapper for the fish.  https://www.thaitable.com/thai/recipe/turmeric-fried-fish

Here is a related recipe, but different in that it is fish cakes with a cucumber sauce.  Some may prefer that.   https://importfood.com/recipes/recipe/4-spicy-thai-fish-cakes-tod-man-pla

This next one looks really good.  And, they are low in carbs and calories.   https://rasamalaysia.com/thai-fish-cake-tod-mun-pla-recipe/

Prayers for all who need them, especially victims of violence and injustice.   Special prayers for our Daily family members facing challenges.  Cheers to those who are celebrating.   Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Just a note:   I fly out on Friday, July 15th for my Norway cruise.  Due to time differences I will not be doing the Meal of the Day.  It will be on hiatus until I return home on August 2nd.  Hopefully I'll return home by August 2nd.

Good Friday Morning Dailyites!

I sometimes get paint on my body, but I don't try to do it.  I love blueberries, and I fell off a motorcycle when I rode on the back of my neighbors when I was 16.  He tried to do a wheelie, and the bike went up, and over on us.  And that was my last time on a motorcycle.

I loved the film, the Guernsey Literary...and I also think that this was one of the ports the first week I came and started reading the Daily.

Several years ago a friend gave me a book of painted cats...I would never do this to a cat, but it is unique.  I also think that my cats would kill me if I tried.

Good Morning from Bar Harbor,  thanks for the daily fleet report.  USCBP is running over an hour late. Not sure if we are getting off the ship.  We like blueberries and if we got off the ship we could get all kinds of blueberry treats.  Today's mission will be to finish a silk peanut butter pie that the concierge had sent to the room. Picture won't load.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

So my question today is regarding money on a cruise.

Cruising the Caribbean, every where we have gone people accept American dollars.  But we are going to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain and Portugal.  How do we get dollars changed into Euro?  I can book the excursion here in the states, but when I'm in Italy and need cash for several days,  for tips to tour guides in other countries?  Do the ships carry a bank of foreign cash?  Do I go to certain bank in the US before I leave?

I have decided to create a "book" of your responses, I have printed out the suggestions, ideas and knowledge that you have all shared with me about my Trip of a Lifetime (Toal)so far. And I really need  your knowledge!  The last time I was in Europe was 71, and then it was in school, and I was given my allowance weekly from the school.

Thanks, have a great day!

I mostly use an ATM at a bank. The ones in airports usually don't have the best exchange rates, but I will sometimes use them to get a small amount if I haven't gone to my local bank for a "starter" amount. Our bank does not have a surcharge for funds withdrawn from foreign ATMs. We also use a credit card with no foreign surcharge.

I know that this is not the cheapest way to do it, but it works for me.  I order Euros from my bank here in the US ahead of time.  I take mostly independent tours and they want cash at the end of the tour in Euros.  So I try to figure out the approximate amount of what I need.  Now there are others that will tell you that the best thing to do is get your Euros from an ATM because the exchange rate is better.  That is true.  My bank does not have an affiliate in Europe so if I use the ATM I have to pay a fee each time I withdraw money.  Therefore the advantageous exchange rate does me no good.  What I do is try to us credit cards as much as possible. If you have a card that does not charge an exchange fee, use that one and charge your purchase in Euros.

 Hope this helps.
