Princess incredibly slow in refunding credit balance from Ship Account - over $200

I have been told this is not for the review section so will have limited impact (wanted to impact score for ship as Princess service post cruise is part of the way you feel about your holiday too so in my view relevant) but still want to make the point.

We left the cruise on the 9 July and have a final account stating that this went to corporate finance 9th July.  Despite calling (but you must contact Guest Relations by email I found as they hide behind only an email address and no telephone no), multiple emails (only 1 automated response) and over 5 weeks later nothing but being ignored.  I cannot say how frustrating this is as there is no recourse or options to take, I am at there complete mercy whilst awaiting them to get their finger out.

I am not new to cruising having been on nearly 20, and am a platinum level on Princess.  I have never come across such an indifferent attitude to a customer from a cruise line.  I was an advocate for Princess but cannot say I will from now on.

I left Sky Princess on June 25 (almost 8 weeks ago) and they still didn't refund my ship account yet. In my case it's 650 USD fully refundable OBC.

Princess Germany said, this can take up to 3 to 4 months at the moment. 🤦‍♂️

We sailed Majestic on March 5 and disembarked on March 19 of this year.  I just checked my credit card and we were reimbursed on March 23.   Four days  it was put back on our credit card.  Go figure.

Dispute the charge on your credit card. Tell them you have attempted more than once to have Princess resolve this but, to date, have been unsuccessful. That's what I do when the business is giving me the run around.

If this was an OBC then this is a mute comment.
but if it was taken from a CC then yes.

also I’d try a chat and see if they can help.

I have found that OBC takes at least 8 weeks in the U.S. It will come by check in a white envelope not from Princess. It looks like junk mail so be sure to be on the look out for it.

We are still waiting. We e-mailed Princes, called I don't know how many times, I'm trying to find out what happened to our missing $200 FCC deposits that just vanished and the refund from our June 25th cruise. Heck we never got a final bill e-mailed to us from Princess.

Our refundable OBC check from our cruise ending in early April was received about 8 weeks later. Previous refund checks showed a return address of only Bottomline Technologies but has now added “For Princess Cruise Line Ltd” to know it’s not junk mail.

I would say to might know.

I often receive junk mail which on the outside mentions the name of a company which on the inside has no relation at all to the company named on the outside.

Why would anyone leave a cruise with obc, instead leave with the cash

Because Princess policy is only to refund $25 or less in cash on board. Of what you are owed is more than $25, it must be a mailed check.

It took 3 months for Princess UK to repay our $200 refundable OBC (compensation for rubbish internet); they payed the amount into our bank account using NatWest Payit - I’d never heard of

this before.  We ended up emailing/messaging a number of times before it got paid - we were told on the ship it would take 5-7 working days! Definitely worth keep pestering until it gets paid.

We disembarked on May 10 with a refundable OBC of $100. I finally emailed customer relations last month. Received our check in the mail this week.

That gives me some hope then. We disembarked on 21 May and owed over $200 refundable OBC, still nothing. I sent them an enquiry via their website (in Australia) a week ago and had an email acknowledgement but no reply. Over 11 weeks now - that is pathetic.

Delegating resources to deal with pesterers might contribute to the delays.

"pesterers" ? somehow I think it is taking advantage of using peoples money for as long as possible so they dont have to pay interest on their money.

Somehow I think it is having so many people to process so many claims.

Actually these are not claims we are talking about.  These are refundable credits which Princess owes their clients.  You may want to make excuses for Princess but they take your money in seconds with no problems what so ever.

I may not have read the post as closely as I should have. It appears it was an OBC - not a CC credit.

We disembarked Royal Princess in May of this year. Due to a SNAFU (yes, I know what that stands for) I had $749.87 stuck in my casino account. It took about 4 weeks to receive a check for the full amount. However, I was so peeved about the casino issue I totally forgot to ask for the $20 or so of refundable credit that I could have gotten from Customer Services. D'Oh!

  • 2 weeks later...

Joining the group.  Princess owes us OBC for unused transportation vouchers and a dollar amount that appeared on our final bill that I have no idea what it means or what it is for.  Has anyone ever had a dollar amount appear on their bill with a comment that states:  Referred to Corporate Finance???
