This is not my 1st cruise, but it is the 1st with Celebrity. Previously with Carnival and Royal Carribean. What if any, are differences between the 3 cruise lines?

Their names. What differences are you exactly looking for? Why not wait until the cruise is over and decide for yourself if there are any. Others positive or negative opinions and experiences would have no value to us. We like Celebrity and RC equally. Never cruise with Carnival.

In our younger days, my DH and I cruised with Royal; presently, we love Celebrity E-class ships because of the Retreat areas for suite guests; however, we also enjoyed our sunset veranda with the 4 MDRs. Celebrity for us is a step above Royal and without all the kids, water-slides and a more adult atmosphere.  We have never cruised with Carnival and have no plans to in the future.  Price, atmosphere and itinerary are very important to us, along with cruising in Europe.  Cruise lines in general are adapting to revenue and supply-chain issues, not to mention education of new staff etc.  Yes, we have noticed cuts in quality, but still feel that Celebrity is our #1 choice when it comes to cruising, but we do have one cruise with another line.

29 cruises in 20 years...9 Celebrity, 3 RCCL, 1 Carnival.

Enjoyed every one & find them more alike than different (along w/ Princess, DCL & NCL as well).

Celebrity is our fav & all we heard going into our 14 day Carnival cruise in Jan was that we would hate it--NOPE! Loved it!

RCCL: best production shows & "bells & whistles"

Carnival: best comedians & endless trivia

Celebrity: best service & food overall

I find attitude is the key to everything--if you think you will have a good time, you probably will.

Not every cruise has been perfect but had a good (usually great!) time on each one.

Carnival and Royal Caribbean tend to have more energy and a younger crowd.  More children on these lines.  Celebrity tends to attract a more 'mature' crowd.

I would say the food in the main restaurants is a step up at Celebrity with the exception of the pizza/burger joints.  I give the nod to Carnival for the burgers and 'fast foods'.

The shows at Royal Caribbean tend to be a step above but often you have to make reservations.  Not so with Celebrity.

We haven't sailed Carnival but had plenty of cruises on Royal Caribbean.

Biggest differences we see: only one announcement a day and no pool games. A bit more sedate and calm. Less nightlife, too. More martinis, fewer conga lines.

I've sailed Carnival, Royal and Celebrity.  Celebrity is my favorite for several reasons:

  • Cloth towels in the public restrooms
  • Calmer atmosphere
  • Fewer children
  • No smoking in the casinos
  • Better-behaved passengers (not meaning to insult anyone, but this is purely my experience after 13 cruises)
  • Craft cocktails in the Martini Bar and World Class Bar
  • No free style soda machines
  • Ability to drop luggage off immediately upon boarding--no hauling your carry-ons with you to the buffet while waiting for staterooms to open.

Hope this helps.

21 cruises and started cruising 1987 (our ten year anniversary)  and it you want to approximate the cruises from the 1980's your best bet is Celebrity.  Royal is not even close. We have not been on Princess.

Just off our first Celebrity cruise and this is exactly what I thought about when looking for a new line to experience and that is exactly what we found. We had a great time.

Wow some of the rudest or snarky answers I’ve seen on any question lately. What’s with some people?!  Please don’t think most Celebrity cruisers are like that!

Basically, Celebrity tends to be a bit more quiet and relaxing and laid back than Royal. Fewer kids. Good entertainment but not quite up to the same quality overall. Excellent service. Very good food. No amusement park stuff for kids but a nice kids program.

Many differences have nothing to do with opinion.

that really depends on the ship,

Spent 21 days on Voyager of the Seas last September everything was sub standard

The ship should of been taken to to Turkey and beached 😉

With RCI and CCL yes, with X it's pretty much the same on board experience between their oldest and newest ships except for the appearance and theater shows due to the newer ships having the latest and greatest stage equipment
