P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?

It’s been grey and miserable day here, showers of rain off and on, quite cold outside when I fetched the bin, collection a day later this week.

The sword of Damacles that was hanging over us for the last 2 days has been removed when my wife got a negative PCR test, she has had what we hoped was a cold, but had a inconclusive LFT Wednesday  evening, there was what appeared to be a very faint line against the second line and I mean faint, followed up with a second LFT Thursday morning, but as she matched the Omicron symptoms apart from no high temperature decided on the PCR to be on safe side.

So it seems it is a bad cold after all, so we are a right pair me with sinusitis and my wife with a cold, we are both relieved  to know it’s nothing else.

Rubbish nights sleep last night, so feeling awful today, hopefully better night tonight.

Not sure I am allowed to post details on here but do a Google search for Llanddulas and you should see a site listed that implies that it is very close to the sea (which indeed it is).

Is it a site that has caravans for holiday let or just one where everyone owns their own van?

Great minds think alike, I have literally posted the same thing.

As well as buying dehumidifiers you can rent the industrial ones depending on the size of the area affected.

We bought one and it comes in handy from time to time for drying out things in winter that are too big for the tumble drier.

What a brilliant idea👍

Most vans are owned but you are allowed to hire your van out if you wish dependant on some rules and regs from the owners of the site. There are some hire vans that the site owners / company hire out but these are few and far between. It is usually very quiet

Probably, but who knows in these days of short supply and greater demand?

Thinking about it, we put our deposit down at the beginning of the pandemic and probably got it just at the right time. Best decision we have ever made and think you'd say the same.

I don't mind January as I feel that I am past the darkest point of the Winter and the evenings are drawing out, already sunset is 20 mins later then a few weeks ago.

My worst month is November just after the clocks have changed and the evenings are getting darker earlier and earlier into the late afternoon, and the Remembrance  period is important but understandably not the most jolly time.

The worst month of the year for me is January, and not because it's my wedding anniversary month. It's a long dismal, dreary month, but when February arrives, the shortest month,  then I know Spring will soon be with us.

Absolutely. It will be nice to get back to cruising as well though.

Definitely - we also have a land holiday booked for a week in April 2023 in Sorrento to experience their Easter so that is exciting too 🙂 Can't finish work yet though - will have to pay for it all some how !!!!!!

I know quite a few people who think the same. My mum used to hate February as well and could not wait to welcome in the Spring. When she lived in Wales March 1st was really special and out came the pots of daffodils in the house 🙂

Thank you.I think I have found the site but no option to choose a sea view! Something to consider as from what you have previously said and photos etc it looks a lovely site

To hire they do have 2 vans I know are right on the front opposite the sea with direct views. If you were interested you could give them a ring. The caravans on the front are  numbers A2 / A3 (we think) and there may be another one A18. Pete may know as he 'looks down' on us all 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

There must be something in the air. Both of us were up about 3.15am having a coffee. Went back to bed at 4.45am and as a result we're now feeling a little sorry for ourselves today. Pathetic aren't we?😒

I agree.  It’s awful.  I have a sad January anniversary too, which doesn’t help.

I promised myself I’d buy a SAD lamp if I found the greyness too depressing, but so far (a whole 8 days into the new year!) it’s OK.  We had a lovely sunny day on Wednesday, which was our group walk, so lots of human interaction too, so Vitamin D top-up and socialising boost too.  I still might buy that lamp, but not just yet

Roll on February

The weighted blanket still seems to be doing it’s thing for me … so lovely to go to bed confident of getting solid sleep

I don't remember the last time we had a sunny day. Although we might not have had rain it has been dull, damp or foggy.

You get some strange weather. Years ago I remember sitting on the beach at Sennen. Hot sunshine, but we couldn't see the water due to the mist.

We all handle winter differently. Prior to covid, we had a cruise, usually a bargain in October from the Med to the Caribbean. In February we hired a villa in Lanzarotte for a month, so there was always something to look forward to. Totally different now, but I prefer January to November, the days are getting longer and Spring is only weeks away, positive thoughts !

We do handle them differently, winters didn't used to bother me but they do now, we usually do a long Caribbean cruise between Nov -Feb. This year we are hoping to hire an apartment in Lanzarote for a month in Feb with the premise that if we enjoy we will extend to 6-8 weeks next winter.
