Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

@Jimboyou asked me to reply here about grandeur. I've posted quite a few reactions on the belle thread. Dont really follow here. The crew was overwhelmed in many ways. Some not their fault some poor planning. It was more like a carnival than  rcl cruise with many carnival newbies. Lines and groups. Drawings made me worry they were covid spreaders.

I'm a marked woman. I bet they were glad to get rid of me. I got into it 2 out of 2 times with a waiter and talked to her supervisor who wouldnt fix the issue so I wrote to the address I had. Boy did I get some attention. Seems they are used to quiet UK types and 600 to 800. Even our diamond ambassador said Texans are loud but with a lot of energy in a good way.

We ended with a big storm bringing us into texas. Lady crew in breakfast this morning even was worrying what they will do with 500 kids onboard this summer after kids sale free booked up the ship. Overwhelmed as in a sea day lunch waited and waited for meat, then they were totally out of silverware, sharing napkins, having to eat with fingers. No clean places to eat. They promised rheyngot more salt and pepper shakers coming in for WJ. We Texans been working on getting them to put ice in drinks. Seems they dont think people want iced drinks. This is texas not europe.

Both my cabin stewards were fantastic, dining just needs more help. Period. First night dinners typically have been 2 hours. One couple anytime said they walked out after 2 1/2 hours and still didnt have dessert. We ran about 75% brand new to rcl each leg. Tried the pizza once and it was awful.

Yes I'm home now. Getting a little energy back finally. Rcl needs more staff. I wouldnt pay current rcl prices to do that ship. My cabin steward summed it up what do you expect 70% staff and 100% pax. Of the higher loyalty level folks who cruise more, not one said they would do that ship and cruise again. Not one. Ship is adapting to us rowdy texans. Drink machines always out of ice. The one ice machine outside buffet permanently broken. It's not even really summer. Lol. But its changing. When I first got on no drinks the crew sat out had ice, now they are putting it in water and iced tea and some others sometimes. Crew said to me but putting ice in ahead of time waters down the lemonade and punch. .. we are like we still want ice. We also want coffee. The coffee line was ridiculous at the coffee bar. Glad I could use diamond lounge. They just need more crew period. You cant just cut off the line for lunch at WJ. It's not like there are really other choices where they all can just go.

Thanks for the review.......sure sounds like things really haven't changed from when we sailed on that ship 20 years ago. I tried to tell you it was going to be badddddd.

The apps should be able to be transfered but they may not work until updated to their latest version in order to run on the newer operating system in the phone.

Only things important to be transferred are my pictures, phone contact list and any phone I buy must be blue tooth compatible with my hearing aids.  I would love to keep my current phone number.  We shall see.

Hi all.  Off Quantum today and about ten days behind on this thread, so will catch up over the next few days.  Alaska was gorgeous, weather was great, COVID *&%$!  I am now stuck in Seattle isolating with COVID while DH flies home.  He has no symptoms and has tested negative multiple times.  Many escorted off today with COVID. Man taken off in Victoria yesterday to hospital with really bad case of Norovirus.  I wasn’t off ship until almost 11am! Who knows when boarding started today as more came off after me.

Oh no! Sorry to hear you got covid. Let us know how they handle the testing or other arrangements to help you.

Sounds like there were a lot of problems on the ship. What did the waiter do or not do? Are there a lot of new crew that need more practice or more training?

Sorry you've caught the dreaded bug and now stuck in quarantine. Did you have to isolate on the ship too?

Hope it's mild and you can get home soon

I was at Labadee once when there was a long line of people to get food. When closing time came they closed off the line and wouldn't let anyone else in to get food. I thought there was going to be a riot.

She refused to let me order something on the menu that night from the vegan listings. She said I had to pre order those items. I'm like no I order it all the time, she held her ground and so did I. She got her supervisor who acted like ok he will get it as a favor to me. I saw him the next day still mad. It's on the menu, she is wrong. He said he will separate the two of us next leg. I said why not tell her people can order whatever they want.

So 2 days later I went back and ordered from the kids menu and she pulled the same thing. I wrote a email about it saying I wasnt belong allowed to order what I want. Yikes. My wanted picture must have gone up in the crew quarters. They went looking for me. I dont want hovering service, I just want to order what I want from the menu. They sat me with a couple of the 10 pinnacles onboard. I did enjoy them. They were on with me all 4 legs and I'll cruise in sept and dec with them again. She is their ta and they cruise a lot. Lol they are the couple who got the big bottle of lotion in addition to what's on the wall. They booked JS.

The waiter, female isnt new I was told. She just thinks she can tell people what she recommends. I said she needed a attitude adjustment on my feedback survey and gave her a 4. She also didnt fill water and tea refills ...not once i saw. Her supervisor finally came over and cleared dirty plates and did refills. Shows how desperate they are for crew imo.

If they dont get more crew real soon you will be hearing more about this ship during the summer. Crew blames they are at 70%, they are trying. To make things worse cozumel day we were tipping side to side and everything fell over in the buffet causing crew even more work. They had to run the thrusters while we were docked to keep from banging into the pier.

They been doing 600 to 800 out of Barbados and now all the sudden booked up to 2k. I've heard they are at 2k now. Same crew. What was rcl thinking the same amount of crew and almost triple the passengers. Yes jumbo I too saw it coming once I realized I had booked the first cruise out of texas. I'd already booked nonrefundable.

Meet lots of nice cruisers. Friends I'd meet on liberty, new friends. My tablemates they sat me with booked liberty starting in august until it leaves in october .. so they will be on my 2 weeks in sept. He loves to cruise. She says being their ta she can forestall issues. I'll see them and others on allure. I love diamond lounge and meeting for breakfast. They are just too short staffed. My stewards were sweeties. I moved and had 2. Both awesome. The one worked so hard I always would still pass by at 1 pm and she was there every day still working near the elevator. I had each twice. Second did me his favorite miniatures in wash clothes. He was so happy I loved them and sure didnt have space for large ones. I'd brought a whole bag of nothing but pringles and emptied my merci candy and gave her a cash tip. He came up the night before the end with this other hippo to say good bye. I wasnt even with him when he brought this good by hippo. Sweet.

All I remember is getting a terrible sunburn. I did a boat excursion down the coast since you cant leave labadee and explore on your own. I sat where I was covered. Didnt realize the sun could reflect off the water and I was burned to a crisp. Dont remember the food at labadee. I was on oasis.

Yes on Windjammer they cut off allowing people to go in and eat when there was no more silverware. But other than Mdr there is no other place. The park cafe as they call it in the solarium was only open off times when WJ closed. I'd say solarium needs more hours but they dont have extra staff. The solarium was the other mid morning place to get pastries and morning stuff after WJ closed for breakfast. But many went to the coffee place, just for rolls. That's why the line at the coffee place so long. If you got up at 1030 am they went there for food. Some in the coffee line didnt even want coffee.

I think they sell a lot more beverage pkgs and coffee cards than before. Someone said it wasnt a problem in the old days on rhapsody out of Galveston. I dont think people thought back then they had to have their Carmel macholato or whatever with whipped cream. I dont remember these beverage pkgs being talked about so much back then. Just one person taking orders and one guy making coffee and getting pastries. Liberty has a longer counter and if you just want some food you dont have to stand in the line with those waiting to order their frapachinos.

Sorry jimbo.. I see above spellcheck changed what I typed. I know you are jimbo. Adventure and grandeur exchanged places for the summer and a while beyond and they are not interchangeable ships.

How the %^&* did he get out of the car after it was in the trailer?? It couldn't have been easy. Or is he riding all the way to Florida in the car ?? LOL🤣😂

Also, was that a 1958 Chevy Impala in front of Nate's car??

Edit: Forgot to ask. Are you going to try to get the "NVRLAZY"  vanity plate duplicated once you're in Florida??

@firefly333 Yup, finding food on that ship is really difficult......The ship is just poorly run too which I'm sure doesn't help things.

Not sure why that ship is still sailing, should have either sold it or beached it somewhere in my opinion.

I know for a fact we would never sail on it again no matter the price or the itinerary. Could be free and we wouldn't step foot on it again. It's such a disappointment.

It's also 55 degrees here now, rained all last night. Over an inch they are saying. The sprinkles have just stopped, it's brighter now but still solid clouds above, no blue skies.

Grass needs cutting to once it dries out, which around here doesn't take long on this mountain because we most always get a good breeze.

Garden will have to wait to later this afternoon or tomorrow once it dries out. One of our rain gutters from the house(about a 125 ft run) leads right to my garden under the ground and then comes to the top of the ground when the water comes out it irrigates my garden for me whenever it rains. 🙂
