So sorry to hear this.    I am sure she enjoyed your visits.   The dog probably really missed her and had a broken heart.

Exactly. When I was 12 years old a good friend of mine who was 10 died. His dog missed him so much that he literally ran into traffic when he was off his leash for only a minute.

Had to run some errands near Jacksonville today. It’s a really nice drive through a few coastal islands with great marsh views.

We had lunch at one of our favorite places when we’re near Mayport called Safe Harbor Seafood. It’s right on the docks where many of the commercial fisherman are docked. Seafood is literally right off the boat. It’s not at all fancy…just good fresh seafood baskets with fries and hush puppies on a deck overlooking the docks.

We then took the ferry across the St Johns River to get home.

That area is also where the Mayport Naval Station is located. Whenever we’re there, military helicopters are going through exercises. Practice makes perfect.

A hard thing about shooting at 100x is holding it study.  I am going to try posting some more examples.   Notice the 100x here.  I am not sure if the is from lightning, moving, or just digital zoom.

1x, 3x, 10x, 30x all look great. The 100x softness could be a combination of all but basically it's the fact that it is a digital zoom with whatever your basic camera pixel rate. If you have 12mp camera and you blow it up 100 times it will not look as good as a camera with a 24mp rate blown up 100 times.

I always tell our young photographers here at work don't rely on your zoom to get close. Get closer to get your shot.

We very much enjoyed the wedding yesterday evening. It was so nice to meet friends whom we did not see for what seems like ages...

The wedding was very low key, in line with the young couple, who had been together since high school.

The reception area before the chuppah, where hors d'oeuvres were served. I always like to eat those, they're usually more tasty than the meal served afterwards. [and I was right....😉]

The dining area. My [girl]friends and I managed to squeeze some dances together, masked....

Wow, miss one week because of work and you 40 pages behind!!

I was hoping to find a few Ovation pics from @FromSea2ShiningSea... I'll keep watching.

Beatiful wedding pictures @dani negreanu. What is a chuppah?

After our week on Serenade I spent two weeks working in and around Portland and Salem Oregon.  I'd post pictures but they are only depressing.  Monday we took off to Idaho.  The. drive along the Columbia river in Oregon is spectacular.  We stopped overnight just 150 miles west Idaho for the night. and was treated to a spectacular sunset.

The drive into Idaho was amazing and breathtaking. Unfortunately, because I was driving I couldn't take any pictures but I'm sure I ll have a few before this 2 weeks is up.

Dave, Too bad you guys aren't still in Washington.  I caught a GREAT deal on Ovation leaving this Friday, so I am flying back up for my third trip to Alaska this season.  Can you tell I've missed cruising.😁

I don’t use digital zoom. Optical zoom is great, and much better than the old days now that most cameras/lenses have stabilization, but I’m still leery of zooming in too much while hand held and with a slower shutter speed. I’ll often crop in post instead but then I’ve got control over how everything looks.

We're invited to 3 weddings in the next month - today (good friends), Sunday (our DIL's sister) and mid-October (next door neighbors).

Can't say we're not a bit wary being among so many people. You're supposed to be either vaccinated, after COVID or to show a negative PCR.... The venue management has to check.

We haven't been to a wedding for the last 5 years....

Weddings and cruises are the only places were I can dance. I absolutely like dancing.

Not sure about dancing at those weddings, though.

Are lateral flow tests mandatory? That would be a reassurance I guess. At the weekend we are having a family dinner for our 35th anniversary and I think I'm going to ask everyone to do a test (from home,  so easy to do and free kits from the govt) as rates are bumping along and actually going up in our area .  My ex sister in law had a family party last week,  and several guests went down with covid afterwards .

Everyone at our do is vaxxed

Beautiful pictures, Dani.  So glad you had such a wonderful time with your friends, and that you were able to put your dancing shoes on!!  I also prefer the delicious bites before the main meal😉

I just learned of Norm MacDonald's passing yesterday.  One of Canada's greatest comedians.  He was a staple on Saturday Night Live as the Weekend Update anchor.  One of his best forms of comedy was story telling.  Love this one.

This joke about Steve Irwin was told only 10 days after his death.  Definitely a "too soon" moment but he still managed to make everyone laugh.

That's a great feature for a phone.   I'm not an expert but I think the 30x looks good to me.   It truly is amazing what we can do with phones these days.

Like I was saying, a camera with phone functionality 😂.  I think 30x is good enough for screen few.  It probably wouldn’t look good printed as even a 4x6 and probably wouldn’t hold up to additional cropping.

That ferry is so cute!  We loved our little back and forth on it.  Joked that we were finally on a cruise again...and took the vehicle with us!!

Our favorite lunch spot, just across on the the north side.   Sandollar.  🙂

Yes. We’ve only been there once but liked it. It’s right in the middle of this pic, that I didn’t previously post, from before the ferry left the Mayport side.

On man, I envy you... I'd love to sneak on to Ovation before she shuts down for the season.  Sadly no room in the schedule.  I'll be on her next year for a trip to Alaska so in the meantime I'll have to satiate my self with other folks pictures!

I just finished season one of the Man in The High Castle. The premise of the 4 season show is that Germany and Japan were victorious in WWII .The show begins in the US in 1962 but is no longer known as the US.The acting is great.

That was a great series.  I wish that they didn’t end it they way they did, but, at the time, the new head of Amazon studios wanted to take their originals series in a different direction.
Most  of the story arcs were really thought provoking and really makes you appreciate they way the war actually ended.
